Hajime no Ippo: Rising episode 20

What is wrong with those Japanese people? Thinking they can mess with my head by saying that Mamoru suffers from detached retina. The man has never been so strong. No way is he going blind! Mamoru for president!

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 20 [720p].mkv_snapshot_04.44_[2014.02.24_22.37.25]Put all that useless speculation aside and just enjoy as Mamoru teaches that guy the difference between a textbook boxer, someone that has it all, and a real boxer like Mamoru, someone that has something to lose. Mamoru has been swinging like his life depended on it and even I started to think that he might have been going bind.

Mamoru temporarily lost his left eye due to the amount of blood that kept seeping into his eye. He had only his right and he fought splendidly. Detached retina? I don’t think so. A pair of big, rough, steel balls? Obviously. That’s why he’s my favourite character. To hell with Ippo and his whining attitude. All boxers should be like Mamoru.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 20 [720p].mkv_snapshot_19.51_[2014.02.24_22.38.05]I’m not going into the specifics, but Mamoru is obviously going to win. He has him right where he wants him and there’s nowhere the current champion can go without Mamoru hunting him down. Besides, Mamoru might as well take it easy and avoid getting hit at this point. It’s a given that he’s way ahead in points and would definitely win the match if it ever came to a judge’s decision. Of course, that’s not Mamoru’s style and he’s definitely looking to end it by knocking his opponent down until he can no longer get up. I’m pretty sure that next week’s episode should wrap things up quite nicely. No point in dragging it out at this point.

Kuroko no Basuke 2 episode 20

It’s becoming clearer with every passing episode that there’s going to be a third season of Kuroko no Basuke. This episode basically just confirmed that. There’s no way that they’re going to end all of this within just six episodes.

[HorribleSubs] Kuroko's Basketball 2 - 45 [720p].mkv_snapshot_06.44_[2014.02.23_22.59.33]I’ll get straight to the point: Seirin played against those two school and barely managed to squeeze out two victories without the help of their star players, Kuroko and Taiga. I was happy that they didn’t focus too much on those matches and that it was over before any of that supernatural crap had a chance to kick in. It was simple and funny, that’s all there was to it. That one scene where Riko slapped all the players in order to keep them focussed on the match (not sure how that even works) was one to remember. Do not be surprised if you start seeing wallpapers all over the place of Kuroko’s face with a slap mark on it.

[HorribleSubs] Kuroko's Basketball 2 - 45 [720p].mkv_snapshot_17.56_[2014.02.23_23.00.45]Anyway, Atsushi’s team defeated their two opponents as well (without losing a single point I might add). No surprise there. It’s all quite predictable. There was simply no way that Seirin or Yousen would lose before they fought one another, especially since they made such a big deal about Taiga’s old friend being on that team and all.

Tatsuya, Taiga’s aforementioned friend, truly is a sad case. He doesn’t want Alex to treat him like a little kid and starts making a fuss over nothing. I honestly don’t care anymore. Break out all the supernatural moves you got, Seirin. Just defeat that little sh*t and his annoying, stuck-up team, although we all know that’s going to happen anyway.

Space Brothers episode 95

This was definitely one of the better Space Brother episodes. I just suddenly got the feeling to write about it after I saw it. Couldn’t be bothered to write another post today so this is going to be it. Will they keep this up? Doubtful.

[HorribleSubs] Space Brothers - 95 [720p].mkv_snapshot_07.29_[2014.02.22_23.09.25]We finally learned a bit more about Mutta’s new crush, Betty. It seems that Betty was married to an astronaut that died alongside Brian Jay. It seems that Betty has this strange desire to go to outer space to ‘avenge’ her deceased husband somehow. It could also explain why she’s so hostile towards other men. She is definitely one of the serious ones and I can only expect to see her in outer space soon. Well, that probably won’t happen soon. We probably have many more months of training episodes to go, and do not be surprised if the show suddenly gets cancelled before Mutta ever gets to the moon. The ratings have been going down lately.

[HorribleSubs] Space Brothers - 95 [720p].mkv_snapshot_11.57_[2014.02.22_23.09.39]So yeah, Betty might be single and all, but I doubt that Mutta stands a chance. He’s definitely not used to dealing with other people’s kids, so suddenly seeing him with a stepson won’t be happening. He needs to give up on Betty and find another pretty girl to fawn over from afar. That’s his thing, after all… Don’t be surprised if he’ll actually use that telescope to spy on chicks.

All the characters seem to have reasons of their own. That playboy character is still an annoying mystery, but I’m pretty sure that he, too, has a good reason to go to outer space. Am I curious about it? Not at all. About afro-dude? Not at all. Betty was really the only one I was interested in because of her aggressive attitude.

Engaged to the Unidentified episode 07

I’m going to have to accept the fact that a strange story just got stranger. I’m also going to have to accept that supernatural-genre is pretty much taking over and the comedy is slowly being pushed into seat number two.

[Underwater] Mikakunin de Shinkoukei - Engaged to the Unidentified - 07 (720p) [A340F076].mkv_snapshot_07.35_[2014.02.21_23.21.04]Why do I say these things? Simple. We learned that the Mitsumine family, a family that used to live in the mountains where “normal” people don’t often come, aren’t quite human. They are these supernatural beings that can transform and that have certain powers. We know this. But do people also know that the supernatural-genre is taking over? Are you aware that the comedy and romance is slowing being pushed back due to characters constantly focusing on these mysterious entities? It may have been great at first, but I cannot help but realize that there hasn’t been any progress lately between Hakuya and Kobeni.

[Underwater] Mikakunin de Shinkoukei - Engaged to the Unidentified - 07 (720p) [A340F076].mkv_snapshot_17.45_[2014.02.21_23.21.27]That’s not even all. Now they’re also focusing on yet another supernatural character that supposedly comes from the same mountain as Hakuya and Mashiro. I cannot help but wonder how many more supernatural characters there are inside that school of theirs. It’s certainly becoming the show’s number one topic.

I still have high hopes for Engaged to the Unidentified. I just want them to get this over with during next week’s episode. The show is nearing its end and I would at least like to have seen something happen between Hakuya and Kobeni. Let them accept one another. Let them deny one another. I don’t really care about the outcome. Just end the story properly or give us a well-deserved second season.

Witch Craft Works episode 07

It’s still rising! The average user rating for Witch Craft Works is still on the rise on pretty much every single anime website. I can vividly remember how Witch Craft Works couldn’t even get a seven. It climbed its way up to a solid 7.5 average during these past few weeks. I knew people would come around!

[Watakushi-Nameless] Witch Craft Works - 07 [720p][89A9FCF1].mkv_snapshot_05.32_[2014.02.20_22.50.37]The story is just too unpredictable. I absolutely love that. How was I supposed to know that Ayaka would take in Medusa and the rest of her “family”? They have been after Honoka since the beginning. I can even remember Ayaka’s attempt to kill them during the second or third episode. Did I see this coming after all that? Of course not.

Forget about them all living together in the Takamiya residence for a couple of days. How about Ayaka’s decision to partner up with Medusa in order to fight against her mother? Where did that even come from? I’m just going to ignore the fact that Ayaka was quite easily defeated by her mother and move on to something else for now.

[Watakushi-Nameless] Witch Craft Works - 07 [720p][89A9FCF1].mkv_snapshot_11.48_[2014.02.20_22.51.14]I am starting to pick up a few patterns here. Ayaka needs a strong bond with Honoka in order to become strong herself. A booty call every now and then should solve that problem, but that’s not going to happen. I’m kind of imagining Ayaka and Evermilion partnering up like Ayaka did with Medusa this week. Something has gotten Ayaka al riled up and I want to know what that is, dammit!

It may still be too early to say this, but I honestly wouldn’t mind watching another season of this if the remaining episodes are as good as the past seven. Watching Witch Craft Works has been an absolute delight. Right now I’m just watching anxiously for Evermilion’s next appearance. Honoka, get into trouble already and summon her!
