Witch Craft Works episode 12

It’s a damn shame that Witch Craft Works ended without focussing on Evermillion. She only got about five minutes of screen time throughout the entire show. That’s way too little for such an interesting and important character.

[Watakushi-Nameless] Witch Craft Works - 12 [720p][55617C34].mkv_snapshot_04.03_[2014.03.26_22.31.23]The one thing that I don’t understand is that they focussed quite a lot on Weekend, a witch that uses bombs to defeat her opponents, but that she got defeated quite easily in the end. Even Ayaka, one of the strongest witches in the city, couldn’t defeat her, and she had quite a bit of extra power that she got from Honoka. In the end it was Chronoire that defeated Weekend without even breaking a sweat. Her being strong or weak isn’t the issue here. The fact that Weekend got defeated so easily is by far the least of my problems. The very, very least.

[Watakushi-Nameless] Witch Craft Works - 12 [720p][55617C34].mkv_snapshot_16.43_[2014.03.26_22.31.56]The one thing that confuses me is why Chronoire showed up in the first place. She gave Honoka that pill in order to undo the first seal. That all succeeded and Honoka become stronger and stronger. For what? Honoka did very little… His powers proved quite useless in the end if you think about it… Chronoire could’ve just searched for Weekend without having to go through all that trouble.

Also, what the hell is with Kazane? The show ended and we still know almost nothing about that character. We know she’s Ayaka’s mother, that she’s strong, that she’s the city’s leader and that she has ties to the Takamiya family. That’s it. We know nothing else. In the end I cannot help but think that the story in itself seems quite pointless. It could’ve all been avoided if Chronoire just went after Weekend in the first place…

New Macross anime green-lit

New Macross anime green-lit

The Kanto-area rerun of the Macross Frontier television anime ended on Wednesday with a teaser that a new Macross television series is launching. The announcement provided no further details on the new project in the 32-year-old science-fiction franchise.

The franchise began in 1982 with The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, a television anime series with themes of space warfare, a love triangle, and transforming fighter planes. It spawned two more television series (Macross 7 and Macross Frontier), several theatrical films (starting with The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?, and several video series (including Macross II, Macross Plus, Macross Dynamite 7, and Macross Zero).

Magi 2 episode 24

Yeah, it’s safe to say that my predictions were spot-on. I should’ve known that they would try to end things this way. In fact, do not be surprised if they are going to continue with a new arc in the form of a third season. The animation is certainly successful enough.

[HorribleSubs] Magi S2 - 24 [720p].mkv_snapshot_08.28_[2014.03.25_23.35.03]The mayhem continues as the enemy is getting stronger with every passing second. Yeah, Aladdin, Alibaba, Kouen and his family tried their best to stop it, but it was useless. They launched one attack after the other and where the only ones that ended up getting hurt. Their enemy instead got stronger as he absorbed the rukh of every single thing it touched. The ocean, the earth, wildlife, everything was absorbed in order to make that thing stronger and bigger. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that thing was capable of absorbing magical attacks, too. As long as its hands touches it, right?

[HorribleSubs] Magi S2 - 24 [720p].mkv_snapshot_19.20_[2014.03.25_23.35.36]It’s always a kick in the balls, no matter when or how, when things go exactly the way you expect them to. I hate that. It was too obvious that Morgiana, Sinbad and the rest of his friends would show up at the end to save the day. I don’t I need to point out that they will be successful. It always ends with a happy ending unless there’s another season in-coming.

My final prediction would have to be about Hakuryuu… Yeah, I’m pretty sure he’s going after his mother. Perhaps with the help of that evil Magi that has taken an interest in him. Most might think that he’s going to the battlefield, too, to help his friends in their time of need, but I for one think that he’s going after the one person that he hates most; his mother. We’ll see…

Yowamushi Pedal episode 24

Oh hell yeah, this race is definitely going to last at least ten more episodes. In fact, I’m pretty sure that it’s going to last until the end of the show. That is how most sports-genre anime are. The greatest thing about Yowamushi Pedal is that, unlike with Kuroko no Basuke, it doesn’t rely on supernatural nonsense.

[HorribleSubs] Yowamushi Pedal - 24 [720p].mkv_snapshot_04.14_[2014.03.25_23.33.40]So gay-brows (my nickname for that gay-looking guy with the strange eyebrows and the body of a Greek god) rushed ahead and told us all a little story about how he worked so very hard to become a well-oiled racing machine by training as much as he could every single day. He forgot about cycling altogether and focussed entirely on obtaining a body that would make people think he’s some kind of steroid junky. The result? A fearsome sprinting machine that cannot be stopped unless you are a freak of nature yourself. Kind of unbelievable if you think he never cycled during his training. Unbelievable and somewhat unfair.

[HorribleSubs] Yowamushi Pedal - 24 [720p].mkv_snapshot_20.00_[2014.03.25_23.34.21]This is where the sudden ‘power boost” comes in. Still no supernatural crap, all can still be explained. Shoukichi chose to rely on aerodynamics and Jin chose to rely on his freakishly huge lungs. My money’s on Jin. Shoukichi’s technicalities will only get you so far, but Jin’s insane lung capacity will allow him to run faster and longer.

Shingo didn’t impress me during his race from a year ago and I doubt that’s going to change any time soon. I’m kind of wondering how Sakamichi will fit in all of this. Shoukichi and Jin have gone out together to get the sprint checkpoint. Will Sakamichi and Yuusuke be sent out to get the climbing checkpoint? That would leave Shingo and Shunsuke, all all-rounder, to do the rest.

Francesca: Girls Be Ambitious anime green-lit

Francesca: Girls Be Ambitious anime green-lit

A flyer passed out at the AnimeJapan 2014 event on Saturday announced that a television anime titled Francesca: Girls Be Ambitious featuring the moe personification of Japan’s Hokkaido area has been green-lit, and will air on the Hokkaido Bunka Hōsō TV station in July. The project’s official website was also updated.

The cast will feature:

Yui Makino (Sketchbook ~full color’S~’s Hazuki, Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE’s Sakura) as Francesca, the heroine of the story. She’s an “undead idol” who’s a little spacey, but has a lot of energy. Francesca is a zombie girl with a big appetite, and her favorite foods are dishes from Hokkaido.

Although she can separate her body parts from each other, she is very clumsy, so she often puts them back in the wrong places.

Asami Tano (Smile Precure!’s Cure Sunny, Toriko’s Rin) as Exorcist, a girl who is always chasing after Francesca and always gets the short end of the stick because she does so. As Francesca does not pay attention to her much, she is unhappy, but considers the zombie idol her rival. However, she has problems dealing with Francesca’s dog, Franken.

The website is also streaming a promotional video for the project. The video features the song “Hungry Zombie Francesca!! Club Mix” by Yui Makino, and previews the Francesca MMD module, which is available to download for free:

In addition to the anime, Francesca will also be getting her own line of sweets, such as sweet bean buns and pudding. Updates will be made on the franchise’s official Facebook page.

The “local moe character” Francesca was created in 2012 to help promote Hokkaido. A Sapporo-based taxi company had used Francesca at the end of last year in its “Ita Taxi” (a pun on the word itasha or decorated car) campaign. Francesca has her own Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ accounts, and is also inspiring merchandise and an Android app.
