Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou

Geez, this was so confusing. I sat watching with my mouth open and a lot of question marks inside my head whilst the she-devil here was laughing her ass off. Sure, I laughed too, but this is not actually my kind of comedy.

The artwork is pretty good, I especially liked those scenes where the characters have those ridiculous expressions. Anime keeps improving visually, which only puts more pressure on getting an even better story.

Speaking about stories; I have no idea what to think of this one. Every minute is filled with these ludicrous jokes, it’s basically overkill. Hell, I don’t think that there’s an actual story to begin with. The show just follows these three idiots around.

I’m not sure if I’m going to be watching this anime from now on, I’ll just have to wait and see what happens. But I do recommend it to people who like to laugh. Sure, the show offers cheap and ridiculous comedy, but you still end up laughing at it.

Plot Summary: A glimpse into the lives of Tadakuni, Yoshitake, and Hidenori; three friends attending a boys-only high school.

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes 2

Oh god, so yet another season for Milky Holmes, huh? Frank; I don’t understand what all the fuss is all about, the first season’s ratings weren’t that great. In fact; there were just above average. I personally never really understood this lolicon-type comedy, which is probably why I stopped watching after the third episode of season one.

The artwork still remains the same from what I’ve seen; no major changes, but nothing special in itself. The characters do look pretty cute and well-drawn, but it ends there for me.

The story is what’s at fault here, at least in my opinion. The comedy in this show isn’t all that great, it is, at times, very dry and has very little impact. Sure, there are scenes that’ll make you laugh. But the point of a comedy show is to have you laughing non-stop, but that is not the case here.

I personally wouldn’t recommend this to many people. If you like lolicon-type comedies then go ahead, but other than that it’s just an average show with average ratings.

Plot Summary: “Sheryl, Nero, Elly, and Cordelia are the most popular students at Holmes Detective Academy, because of the many cases they’ve solved with their Toys and teamwork. The students and the people of the Detective City Yokohama all look up to the members of “Milky Holmes”, as they’re called. But on a dark and stormy night, during a battle with their rivals “The Gentlemen Thief Empire”, they lose their toys, and their fate undergoes a dramatic change…”

Another

Ah, yet another anime that has been all over the internet for the past few weeks. I have no idea how many articles I’ve seen so far. Still, I think it’s a very interesting show. Normally this wouldn’t be my kind of anime, but I think I’ll keep an eye out for this one.

The artwork is key in stories like these. It’s filled with horror, mystery and dramatic scenes, so it would highly compliment the show if the artwork was on the level. So far so good though, it has been a very interesting episode, apparently interesting enough to make me, someone who prefers comedy above anything else, watch this for the time being.

The story itself isn’t anything that special, sorry. I mean, come on… How many stories haven’t you heard about (ex) classmates getting killed, being able to see them, and things like that? Because I have heard several in my day! I can still remember some of them as they were being told around the fire during our annual school camping trip.

So the story isn’t anything that special, doesn’t mean it’s bad, not at all! I have a feeling that it’s about to get very interesting! Go check it out if you like horror, mystery and all sorts of supernatural stuff that makes your skin crawl!

Plot Summary: 26 years ago, in a third-year classroom of a middle school, there was a student named Misaki. As an honors student who was also good at sports, the charming girl was popular with her classmates. When she suddenly died, her classmates decided to carry on as if she was still alive until graduation. Then, in the spring of 1998, a boy named Sakakibara Kouichi transfers to that classroom, and he grows suspicious of the fearful atmosphere in that classroom. In particular, there is a beautiful, aloof girl named Mei Misaki who wears an eyepatch and is always alone drawing pictures.

Aquarion Evol

Okay, so I just finished watching the first episode, and I’m kind of confused. It was a very big episode (forty minutes) so I thought that it would be very explanatory, but that was not the case. I tried to follow the story to the best of my abilities, but there were one or two things that I just couldn’t understand.

The artwork looks very decent, I especially like the eyes. The robots, if that’s even an accurate description, look pretty good too. They look very good, unique and it shows just how creative those artists can be. It’s sort of like a Gundam, Linebarrel of Iron and Heroic Age mixture.

But I’m not too sure about the story. It’s very complex, farfetched and somewhat sexist. I’m not sure I heard correctly, but it sounded very sexist to me.  Also, I believe this is a sequel, so maybe that’s why I’m a little puzzled right now, as I haven’t seen the prequel. I’m not sure if I’m going to watch the prequel or not, I believe that every season should be somewhat explanatory.

Anyway, Sci-Fi fans must be ecstatic right about now. There are a lot of Sci-Fi shows going around now; I never knew that there was such a high demand for that? I recommend this so to all Sci-Fi fans, people who love lengthy and complex stories and Mecha fans. Enjoy!

Plot Summary: 12,000 years have passed in this world, the story of Apollon and Slyvie have become a children’s story called “Skies Of Aquaria”. The “Abductors” Invaders from Altea come to Earth with only one purpose, they invade to harvest humans. DAEVA the Aquaria Academy exists to train men and women to use Aquaria, but they cannot ever merge because of Guize stones., these block an “unholy union” The story follows Amata and Mikono in their unknowing enrollment into DAEVA, and fight the Abductors.

Brave 10

So it’s finally here, huh? You guys have no idea how much Brave 10 advertisement I’ve seen so far. I really started to wonder about this show, and why it’s advertised so much.

I saw the first episode pop up so I decided to check it out. I admit, I was entertained throughout the whole episode, but it wasn’t anything special. It resembles Naruto a little bit, you know, with all those techniques and such.

I have no complaints about the artwork, as they’ve been very thorough from the looks of it. I noticed that they’ve focused on little details, like wounds and torn clothing, so that earns some extra points. Still, it’s nothing special.

The story doesn’t seem all that unique though. It’s actually pretty cliché if you ask me. A young woman crosses paths with a young warrior, only to be rescued by him. Sure, there’s a lot more to it, but the foundations are pretty much done by many other shows. Still, it’s too early to say that this show has no original story, because we might just be in for a wild ride.

So it turned out to be a pretty ‘normal’ show, despite all that advertisement. I do recommend it to all action fans though. It’s not a bad show, it definitely has its moments, but you have to like this sort of thing.

Plot Summary: A year before the battle of Sekigahara that ended the Sengoku Period, the ninja Saizou Kirigakure meets the miko Nami Isa as she’s attacked by assassins. Her shrine was destroyed by Tokugawa Ieyasu for siding with Yukimura Sanada. Meanwhile, Sanada has been gathering ten warriors known as Sanada’s Brave 10, who have the power to change history. As they gather one by one, Nami’s own mysterious power awakens.

Zero no Tsukaima F

It’s been over three years, but it’s finally here! The final season of Zero no Tsukaima! You have no idea how many people here have been waiting for this, me included. Twelve episodes of pure amusement, I can’t wait to see them all!

The artwork is as amazing as ever. However, is it just me or do the characters have a lot more of cartoon-like expressions than in the previous seasons? Nothing wrong with that, but it would be a shame if it happens too often. The show has a certain comedy feel to it, but they mustn’t overdo it.

The artwork is still on the level, but I think the story has improved. The story has gotten a lot more complex and exciting, so I can’t wait to see how it unfolds. I especially liked that scene where Saito came crashing in when Tifania was trying to summon a familiar of her own.

So what do we have here? Well, A show with great history, amazing artwork and an even better story. Do I recommend it? Definitely! Seriously, go watch it. Have you not yet seen the earlier seasons? Lucky you! Go check those out first, they’re definitely worth it!

Plot Summary: After successfully rescuing Tabitha, Saito and gang return to the Magic Academy and their normal, everyday life. However, a secret order from Henrietta sends Saito and Louise to Romalia, with Tiffania also tagging along.

Poyopoyo Kansatsu Nikki

Oh come on, not another one. Seriously, this winter is filled with three-minutes-per-episode shows. Enough is enough.

I’ll be very brief. The artwork, to me, just seems lazy. Hell, it’s an eyesore. People who actually rate this show with a seven or high should quickly get to eyes checked out. I bet even my five year old nephew would hate this.

Also, the story is basically nonexistent.  The whole thing revolves around a family that takes in a fat round cat. Give me a loaded shotgun, a ten second window and I’ll get the job done!

As for my recommendation; you’re probably better off listening to Justin Bieber.

Plot Summary: A slice of life anime about the Sato family, who keeps a round shaped cat named “Poyo”.

Mouretsu Pirates

What a relief. We finally have Manyuu Hikenchou, an anime that revolves around big breasts, behind us. When I first read the title of this show, Mouretsu Pirates, also known as “Bodacious Space Pirates”, I expected to see characters with ridiculous big breasts, breasts that hang roughly ten inches from the ground. Man, am I glad that that’s not the case. I like my fair share of ecchi scenes, but that would’ve been overkill.

The name pretty much gave it away. The show is about a girl that lives in a world where technology far exceeds ours. That means that the artwork has to be great and very creative in order to pull off a great Sci-Fi show. Still, it’s pretty good from what I’ve seen so far. It was no bother to look at, in fact; I can’t wait for the next episode.

The story is pretty interesting. It’s unique, very creative and has the potential for a lot of successful episodes. The manga, serialized in 2008, has been pretty successful, so let us see if the anime adaption will be too.

One question remains; do I recommend this show? Hmm… Well, I would definitely recommend this to all Sci-Fi fans. But, I’m pretty sure that a lot of other people will find this show just as amusing. I wouldn’t put this show in my top ten, but still, it’s definitely worth the chance, so go try it!

Plot Summary: The story centers around a spirited high school girl named Marika. She keeps herself busy with the space yacht club and her part-time job at a high-class retro café. One day, two men suddenly appear and claim to be subordinates of her dead father. They demand that she assume command of the space pirate ship Benten Maru. A privateer ship’s compact was made during a war of independence a century ago, and according to that compact, the ship must be inherited by the captain’s next direct descendant. Marika finds herself embarking on a new life as a space pirate.
