Diabolik Lovers

Disappointment thy name is Diabolik Lovers. I expected so much more from a show with vampires. It’s like the Japanese tried to copy Vampire Diaries, an American show about vampires for women and gay guys.

Diabolik LoversThe artwork is okay. I would’ve changed their eyes immediately. I really think that they messed up on that. It just doesn’t match the rest of the artwork. Also, I wouldn’t have minded if it was a little bit ‘darker’ since vampires are involved.

The story… I don’t care for it. I don’t get it all. A bunch of vampires that keep a girl close to suck her blood. They insult her, call her ridiculous names and try so hard to look badass. It’s not sadistic at all… It’s just plain sad.

I cannot recommend this to anyone. I got bored after the second episode and barely managed to work my way through the third episode before I finally decided to drop it. I might print the DVD cover out later so I have something to wipe my ass with.

Plot Summary: Yui Komori’s father moves abroad, so he sends her to live in a new town with the six Sakamaki brothers. When she arrives at their mansion, she discovers that they are vampires. They abuse her psychologically and physically, often feeding off her. While she optimistically accepts her situation, she unravels mysteries both of their past and her own.

Bottom Biting Bug 2

I postponed writing about this as long as I could, but I guess I might as well since there’s no Naruto Shippuuden this week. I didn’t bother watching season one and I cannot be bothered to watch season two either.

Bottom Biting BugThe artwork is just annoying. It’s standard quality for an anime short, yet it annoys the living hell out of me. It’s supposed to be funny and adorable, yet I can only think of it as dreadful and a waste of precious time.

I know that they made this show for kids, obviously. There are many anime for kids that even I find enjoyable, but this isn’t one of them. I can’t even imagine that kids would want to watch this. Even kids have some standards these days.

Don’t bother with this one. An anime adaption of this was a big mistake, not to mention another season of it. It’s like sentencing someone to hell twice.

Plot Summary: B.B.B. (Bottom Biting Bug), his family (who have just opened a Bitery), and friends (mostly other bottom biting bugs), encounter daily situations in which bottoms are bitten.

Kakumeiki Valvrave 2

I’m afraid that this is another one of those reviews that will cause my cheeks to glow red. I, during my review of the first season, made a premature judgment by comparing Kakumeiki Valvrave to Gundam Seed because they had similar beginnings. I was wrong in the end.

Kakumeiki Valvrave 2I have seen most (if not all) of the Gundam series, and I can honestly say that these Valvrave mechs look a lot better than most of the mechs in the Gundam series. You tell just by looking at it that they worked a lot on these series, no doubt about that.

I made a mistake before because I thought that the story looked way too similar to that of Gundam Seed. That was absolutely wrong. They’re nothing alike. This story is packed with action and mystery, I love it!

I absolutely recommend that you give the Valvrave series a try. Watch the first season if you haven’t already and prepare yourself for something good! They are definitely worth your time.

Plot Summary: Thanks to the development of the Dyson Sphere, The majority of the human populace lives in space. The Dorssia Military Federation, and the Atlantic Rim United States exist as major Military countries, while JOIR is a neutral principality, the story follows Haruto Tokishima as a normal boy going thru high school in T.C (True Calendar) year 71. This all changes when Haruto meets the humanoid weapon Valvrave.

Galilei Donna

This certainly was an intense way to start a show. Off to a good start I’d say. The first episode was a very interesting watch and I’m kind of anxious to see more. It hasn’t even been a week since and I already see dozens of topics everywhere about how great the OP is.

Galilei DonnaIt’s a very detailed show that focusses on advanced technology. You need to have a lot of creativity to make something like that work, and I think they succeeded quite nicely by the looks of it. I have almost no complaints whatsoever when it comes to the artwork.

The story is like a little puzzle. It’s interesting and fun, but I have no idea where they’re going with this. What is it that they’re after? It’s still very vague right now, so I’m kind of hoping to learn a bit more during the next episode.

Is it recommendable? I think so. Action and Sci-fi fans will probably love this sort of thing. I’m not a huge sci-fi fan, yet even I found myself amused by the first episode.

Plot Summary: In 2061, global warming is a thing of the past as a new ice age covers the world. Hozuki, Hazaki, and Kazaki Ferrari, three descendents of Galileo, live in Tuscany. A mysterious organization is searching for the “Galilei Donna,” and put out an international arrest warrant for the three sisters. The sisters must put aside their differences to join forces in fighting the organization and learning their true destiny.

Yowamushi Pedal

Nice! I absolutely loved Over Drive, another sports anime where characters race using bicycles, so I’m not surprised that enjoyed the first episode so much. Hell, it even has a little dude in it that’s way too fanatical about anime and manga.

Yowamushi PedalThe artwork is superb. It’s very nice, very detailed and the characters look great. That pretty much sums it up. I don’t think there’s anyone out there with any reasonable complaints about the artwork.

The artwork is definitely something, but I like the story even more. An anime and manga addict realizes that he’s good at riding his bicycle? That’s funny! I definitely sense an underdog story coming up, which is something I really enjoy.

I recommend this for sure. Comedy and sports fans will eat this stuff up. There’s also no doubt in my mind that Over Drive fans will watch this no matter what.

Plot Summary: Sakamichi Onada is a wimpy high school freshman who loves anime. He initially wants to enter the anime club, but winds up joining the cycling club after meeting two classmates who are already famous cyclists. He undertakes the grueling training to compete in races, and discovers his own hidden talent in cycling.

Samurai Flamenco

This is really messed up I don’t think I can get used to this one. It would’ve been ‘okay’ if this show featured real superheroes, I think. This is just way too childish for me.

Samurai FlamencoThe artwork really isn’t bad. I have very little complaints about the artwork. The characters are okay, the suits look pretty cool and they haven’t messed up on any details so far.

It is really the story that’s pushing me away. I really can’t see myself watching a comedy where one of the characters believes he’s a superhero. It would’ve been fine if it was all in his head, but he actually dresses up and goes out on the street to, and I quote; “fight crime”.

I don’t know how to recommend something when I can’t even see myself watching it, sorry. You’ll get a laugh out of it I guess, but it’s just too childish and too embarrassing for me to watch.

Plot Summary: Masayoshi Hazama has decided to become the superhero Samurai Flamenco in spite of having no special abilities or modifications. Hidenori Goto is a police officer who learns his secret identity by chance, which causes him all sorts of trouble.

This certainly turned out a lot better than I had expected. I might actually have enjoyed the first episode a bit too much, does that make me weird? Oh, why bother, the whole world knows that I’m as weird as it gets.

NouKomeI’m surprised by the artwork, actually. I read the plot summary and a few other related articles about this show, so I had an entirely different impression. I thought they were going to cut a lot of corners with this being one of those ridiculous comedies, but no… It was actually quite nice.

I was really skeptical about the story, too. I wasn’t sure if a story about a boy with a mental condition was going to be worth watching. I certainly didn’t know that there were going to be times where I almost laughed my lungs out.

I do recommend this. It’s funny, it promises to be romantic and it’s like one of the thousands of other anime that follows the lives of high school students. So yeah, give it a fair chance.

Plot Summary: The story centers around Kanade Amakusa, a boy cursed with the mental power of “absolute multiple-choice”—a multiple-choice quiz will suddenly appear in his mind, and the choice he makes will become his reality. For example, he would have to choose between going nude from the waist up or the waist down in school. While in school, he is given another choice: 1) A beautiful girl will fall before him or 2) he will fall from the rooftop in female clothes. He chooses option 1, and a blonde girl named Chocolat falls before him.

Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta

Boy… I expected more from this. I read the plot summary and did a little bit of reading on this particular series, seeing as I’ve watched Yozakura Quartet, but I must say that this wasn’t as good as I thought it would be.

Yozakura Quartet Hana no UtaThe artwork is definitely not high budget quality. It lacks details and the ‘effects’ just don’t measure up. Hell, the artwork itself just doesn’t measure up to the story. It’s quite clear that this is one of those shows that you watch because of its story.

The story has demons that (try) to co-exist with humans. It allows for a lot of action and mystery. I suppose the mysteries will have to suffer because of the comedy, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing in this case.

You don’t really need to watch any of the other series to be able to follow this one, I think. The first series where average, too, yet they sold pretty well in Japan. I suggest that you give the first episode a try because I really don’t want to recommend this.

Plot Summary: The town of Sakurashin is connected to the demon world by seven sakura pillars, allowing humans and demons to live together. The four members of the Hiizumi Counseling Office help and protect its citizens.
