Shin Strange+

I really do not understand the average Japanese mind at all. Strange+ was poorly received in the west and the average ratings for the show are all but good. Why create a second season? How is this stuff getting funded? I am really curious…

Shin Strange+The only good thing I can say about Strange+ is that the artwork is better than most anime shorts. Really, it is. That’s pretty much it though.

No bother with the story. You won’t be watching anything with a decent story if the episodes end after a couple of minutes.

I won’t waste my time with this stuff, so why should you? This is entirely up to you.

Plot Summary: Kou is searching for his older brother Takumi, who left home and has gone missing in the city. Worried that he’s in trouble, Kou decides not to go home until he’s found him, only to find him all too easily. Takumi, it turns out, has become head of the Mikuni Detective Agency, and has no intention of going back home. Kou decides that if he can’t make Takumi return, then he’ll join the agency himself.

Persona 4 The Golden Animation

Another anime adaption from a well-known game in Japan. I won’t fall for it this time. I probably won’t even bother watching this stuff. My problem with the Persona series is that they always start off strong (although pretty much the same). They start good but become rather dull and uninteresting after a couple of episodes.

Persona 4 The Golden AnimationNo much I can say about the artwork. It’s the same old style. They focus a lot on the characters and details. That is why I can say that this is clearly not a budget production.

The story is a problem for me. It usually starts off like any other Persona anime and becomes, just like any other Persona anime, rather dull and uninteresting because the pattern never changes. That is why I usually stop watching after the fourth or fifth episode.

I will play it safe and recommend this only to Persona fans. I cannot see myself watching more than three or four episodes of this before I’m tired of it. It’s the same old thing under a different name and wearing a different jacket.

Plot Summary: In the spring when the cherry blossom petals fall, Yū Narukami moves to Yaso Inaba to live with his uncle and cousin due to his family’s circumstances. He transfers to Yasogami High School, where his event-filled school life begins. However, when serial murders begin occurring in the peaceful town, Yū is awakened to the power of his heart turned to physical form: A Persona. Within these new mysteries is Marie, a resident of the alternate world, the Velvet Room, who has no memories of her past. Together with his friends, Yū must solve all the riddles set in front of him and save Yaso Inaba from further violence.

Zankyou no Terror

I hit myself when I finished the first episode. I thought for sure that this was going to suck. I thought it was going to be rather stupid and filled with pointless action. I ended up loving it. In fact, I want to see more of it right now.

Zankyou no TerrorI do have to be honest in saying that I have to get used to the artwork. I find that Touji and his expressions quite gross at certain points. Not because he’s supposed to be scared or insane, but because the artwork is a little… weird. Not a bad way though. It all looks good.

I won’t go in to details, but I am drawn in by this story. A girl becomes an accomplice after she finds out that her two classmates are terrorists. Does she not realize that those two held her hostage there for a minute? Hmm…

Either way; yes. Watch this. I don’t care if you don’t like horrific action where characters die or act all insane. Get over it. Get over it and watch this right now.

Plot Summary: One summer day, a terrorist attack strikes Tokyo. The perpetrators are two boys who call themselves “Sphinx.” The attack was just the beginning of the grandiose game they are playing that will envelop all of Japan.

Yama no Susume 2

Really? This got a second season? It received such poor reviews worldwide? Not only is there a second season, but this season has a lot more episodes and they are longer in duration. Is this really a hit in Japan? Seriously?

Yama no Susume 2To be fair; I always thought the artwork was rather good for an anime short. Then again, I don’t suppose I can call this an anime short anymore, can I? I think the artwork’s best features are its characters. They look alright.

It’s really the story that never cared for. It never interested me and I never found it amusing. In fact, I got bored quite quickly and just stopped after the fifth episode of season one. I knew it was only a couple of minutes, but I didn’t want to waste them.

Yama no Susume is mediocre at best. I honestly cannot see myself watching this unless something really exciting happens. Unfortunately, I cannot see that happening in the near future. That is why I suggest that you look for something else.

Plot Summary: Aoi and Hinata are childhood friends. Aoi prefers staying indoors and is afraid of heights, whereas Hinata is outgoing and loves mountaineering. They both decide to climb a mountain, in order to see a sunrise they saw together when they were younger.

Hinata and Aoi made a promise to each other when they were very young to climb a mountain. Years later they get in contact again and start acting on that promise. However Aoi has developed a fear of heights, and Hinata has little patience for planning and even less caution.

Majimoji Rurumo

Oh my… Japan is on a roll with witch anime! With Craft Works was absolutely delightful and I am still hoping for some news about the possibility of a second season. Still, this, Majimoji Rurumo, was very nice, too. I really liked it and I think I might write about it as well. This was a very nice surprise.

Majimoji RurumoThe artwork is quite nice. It’s not amazing, but it’s not bad. They created this loli character with a poker face and an enormous witch hat. You want to pick her up and cuddle her until every bit of air has left her lungs. Good stuff!

I like the story as well. A perverted guy wishes for a pair of girls’ panties and sees his wish granted by a tiny witch whom gave him her own panties, only to be punished by her superiors because she is not allowed to give humans her property. Pretty interesting…

I honestly do recommend this. Don’t believe the user ratings. It really is funny and interesting and I believe it shows a lot of promise. It was the same with Witch Craft Works; people were put off at first but came to love it in the end.

Plot Summary: Shibaki is a high-school boy whose only interest is girls. Except he’s been branded as the most hentai boy at school and the girls avoid him like the plague. One day he finds a book in the library about how to summon witches. He tries it as a joke, but it turns out to be the real thing. An apprentice witch named Rurumo appears to grant him a wish. Shibaki helps Rurumo and she in return refuses to take his soul. (This part of this story happened before the start of chapter1) When the story starts, Shibaki wishes he could see Rurumo again. His wishes is granted immediately as Rurumo falls from the sky and crash lands in front of him. He finds out that as punishment for not taking his soul she’s been busted down to an apprentice demon. Now, she must complete the task of getting Shibaki to use up 666 magic tickets that grant wishes before she can become a witch again. However, what she doesn’t know is that each time he uses a ticket it shortens his life. When the last ticket is used up, Shibaki will die. Shibaki knows this because Rurumo’s familiar black cat Chiro tell him as part of the “contract” for giving him the tickets. Now, Shibaki has a choice, make a wish and help Rurumo become a witch again or resist the temptation and try to save his own life.

Momo Kyun Sword

Oh Jesus… This is some incredible stuff. The fan service is incredible. From start to end its nothing but big pairs of breasts bouncing all over the place. Perverts (you know if you are one) will probably love this one just for the artwork.

Momo Kyun SwordThe characters might as well just be completely naked. They are wearing so little and whatever it is that they wear doesn’t really cover anything up. What’s more, I have a feeling that it’s going to get a lot worse as we come across new character.

Absolutely not original. The story about Momotaro, a boy that gets born from a peach and has a monkey, dog and bird as companions, is very old. The author just took that story and sexed it up beyond belief by changing the main character into a busty girl with very little clothing.

I cannot recommend this whatsoever. It kind of rapes a good old story in a very nasty way. I doubt this story will ever turn out to be interesting or even remotely good, so I cannot recommend this.

Plot Summary: Based off the Japanese folktale “Momotaro”, the story features a girl named Momoko who was born inside a giant peach. She was adopted by an old couple and grew up to be a voluptuous teen. Her three friends are animal Gods Inukami (dog), Sarukami (monkey), and Kijigami (pheasant) who she can fuse with any of them to become a powerful magical girl. The demon king’s army is searching for fragments of a treasure that protects the land. Momoko must find the “peach fragments” to save her loved ones from the clutches of the demon king.

Love Stage!!

What is going on with this year’s summer? There’s so much gay stuff goin’ round this season… Is it gay pride year in Japan or something? I don’t know if I am comfortable watching a girlish boy cross-dress in order to fool the TV industry.

Love Stage!!The artwork is just insane. They focussed a great deal on the characters to make them stand out. They succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. That really did one hell of a job on Izumi, the guy that looks like a girl.

I foresee some awful stuff. It’s only a matter of time before either one of those guys find out that their cute colleague doesn’t really have a nice, little, damp cave between his legs. I’m just saying… When some guys haven’t had “it” for some time and they come across a very attractive guy that looks like a girl… Well…

I don’t know how I could ever recommend this. This is the type of show that you have to check out for yourself. Watch the first episode, endure it and try to not to get uncomfortable as you, too, foresee some incredibly nasty stuff.

Plot Summary: Izumi was born in a family of celebrities. His father is a singer, his mother and artist, his older brother the lead vocalist for the popular band Crashers. Izumi himself, however, is just a nerdy college student. He loves the manga “Magical Girl Lala Lulu” and dreams of becoming a manga writer himself. One day he is roped into filming a commercial where he wears a dress. Another actor on the set, Ryoma Ichijo, mistakes him for a woman and falls in love at first sight. As it turns out, though, they met ten years in the past. And Ryoma feelings don’t change when he finds out Izumi is a boy.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei!

I never really took any notice if this spinoff. I thought it was too focussed on comedy. It damaged the image that I have of Fate/Stay Night. There’s nothing funny about fighting against a couple of maniacs to the death in order to have your wish granted at the end.

Fate kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei!The artwork, I think, is still very different from your average Fate/Stay anime. This seems a lot more cheerful when the regular anime is quite dark and filled with action and drama. This is just, as I said before, a spinoff.

I suppose there’s some kind of story going on here, but hell if I know what it is.

I cannot recommend this to Fate fans. Those series are just too good to ruin by watching some spinoff that focussed on comedy instead of hard-core action where characters die almost every episode. Yeah… This is not for me.

Plot Summary: It has been a month since Illya and Miyu became magical girls and sealed all of the Class Cards. Rin and Luvia have been forced to remain in Japan to clean up the aftermath, such as the now-unstable magic in the area’s ley lines. While helping with the cleanup, the seal on Illya’s mysterious innate magic goes berserk and she loses control of her transformation. By the time she has realized what happened, a mysterious girl who looks eerily like Illya appears, apparently bent on bringing destruction down on the original whose heart she seems to have spawned from, and making matters worse she holds the power of the Archer Class Card, with which Illya holds a special bond, within her body.
