Dance with Devils

Saw the first episode and I ma, as I honestly already expected, very disappointed. This is almost like Diabolik Lovers but with singing. You’d have to be a pretty fruity guy to actually like this sort of thing.

Dance with DevilsThe artwork is surprisingly weak. The characters don’t stand out and the level of detail is rather disappointing. You could put any of the characters in a line-up and you probably wouldn’t be able to pick them out of there.

Still, the artwork I could live with. It’s the story that just kills it for me. There’s singing, pretty-boy demons and a helpless heroine that’s now under their care. It’s filled with so many clichés that it’s making my head ache.

I cannot recommend this. This just seems to me like another hit and miss. They tried, I suppose that’s all that matters in the end.
Plot Summary: Ritsuka Tachibana is a female second-year high school student who attends Shiko Academy in Shiko Town. She enjoyed her school life while living with her mother Maria, but one day, that balance fell into ruin when she discovers several of her attractive, male classmate are demons.

Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note

I saw this anime short and I was immediately reminded of Bakuman. In one of the Bakuman arcs there was a project that the boys were working on called “Perfect Crime Party” I believe. This anime short resembles that a lot. I don’t like that.

Tantei Team KZ Jiken NoteThe artwork is somewhat acceptable for an anime short. I have seen a whole lot worse. No idea which studio(s) made it though.

The story is a problem for me. It just looks too much like one of Bakuman’s little side stories. I’m not entirely sure, but I believe one of the characters’ names might be similar or exactly the same as those in Bakuman.

Either way; I won’t be watching it. Not only do I hate rip-offs, this is simply far too childish for me to enjoy. I might recommend this to a much younger audience, sure, but not for teenagers or older.

Plot Summary: Aya Tachibana is a sixth-grader who frets and obsesses over friends, family, grades, and more. One day, she joins the “Tantei Team KZ” with four very idiosyncratic boys she met at cram school. There is the glib and attention-grabbing leader Kazuomi Wakatake, the mysterious “expert of personal relationships” Takakazu Kuroki, the smart and stoic math genius Kazunori Uesugi, and the sweet-hearted Kazuhiko Kozuka who is good at social matters and science. Aya finds her place among them as the “language expert.” “Tantei Team KZ” gets involved in modern-day cases, and even if they bicker from time to time, they collaborate by pooling each of their talents and skills to solve these cases.

Hokuto no Ken: Ichigo Aji

I honestly hate this so much. They basically took an exciting story, which was a quite serious one with a lot of action, and they turned it into some kind of cheap comedy story.

Hokuto no Ken Ichigo AjiI am not a fan of the artwork. I have no idea which studio(s) created this and I honestly don’t want to know. Is it just me or do some of the characters look extremely gay? Wait. Don’t tell me. I don’t even want to know. The animation is simply mediocre at best.

There are several types of comedy. You have slapstick comedy, gag comedy and many other varieties of comedy. This is arguably one of the worst kinds. They took a good story and they turned it into this. Unacceptable.

I won’t watch this and I see no reason why I should tell people to do otherwise. It’s a waste of my time to watch a comedy when it’s just not funny.

Plot Summary: Serving as a spinoff gag manga of the original Hokuto no Ken series, the story is a parody of Fist of the North Star by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara. It consists of page-long gags centered mainly on Souther, both within his final battle with Kenshiro and inserting himself into other parts of the series where he doesn’t belong. One recurring gag involves the kid with a turban repeatedly stabbing Souther in the leg every time he climbs the pyramid’s staircase, and another involves Rei suddenly transforming into Souther in his iconic moments.

Kowabon

Just how many anime shorts are there this season? A new one showed up today. It seems there are still one or two more on their way that we haven’t seen yet. What is the point of all those anime shorts? I am really curious…

KowabonThis one’s a bit different since they apparently created this show by using the rotoscoping method, which is, for as far as I can explain it, having a group of real actors and actresses play all scenes out in real life only so that the animators can then use that footage to recreate it as an animation. I’ll admit that it looks interesting.

The story, for as far as there is one, is not that great. It’s supposed to be scary but it’s not. It’s not at all scary. My little niece probably wouldn’t even find it scary.

I suppose it might be interesting to watch this just because of the way they’ve created this, but it certainly wouldn’t be for a nice scare. That probably won’t happen any time soon.

Plot Summary: There are cameras everywhere in the modern world, monitoring our lives 24/7. Those “eyes” have seen the world you do not know.

Osomatsu-san

Wow, Jesus… Anime forum all over blew up over this one. I can’t really understand why to be very honest. I know that there was a similar show over twenty years ago in black and white, but this isn’t my kind of thing.

Osomatsu-sanThe artwork is not to my liking. They are simply trying too hard and, because it is pretty much a parody, it makes it all look a little cheap. It’s the kind of artwork that looks like it’s easy to draw, you know?

And this story… Fine… I’ll admit that I laughed. They basically make fun of other (well-known) shows in order to try and make you laugh.

Comedy fans that don’t mind watching some of their favourite shows get raped; eat your hearts out. This’ll be for you. I’m not sure if I will be following this since it isn’t my kind of comedy.

Plot Summary: Matsuno household has six naughty and mischievous sons (who are sextuplets), led by the eldest Osomatsu. They were grade schoolers back in the Shōwa period, but despite of still living in the same old household, the street view as well as the life style of modern day society have changed drastically.

Yuru Yuri San☆Hai!

This is a typical example of how messed up the Japanese are. They make something with girls as the target audience, only to find out later that the majority of fans are male. Can you really be surprised by that?

Yuru Yuri San☆Hai!Look at the artwork; it’s about a group of girls and their roundabout school lives. They will play, mess around and do all sorts of ‘cute’ and girly stuff and it’s that sort of thing that attracts girls, but also a whole lot of guys.

As I’ve stated in many of my reviews; I don’t particularly like slice of life anime. It’d have to be pretty darn good for me to be excited about it. This simply isn’t one of them. I find that the story becomes dull sometimes.

I understand the first season. I can even understand the second season and some of the specials, but I did not expect a third after it turned out that the second season did not do as well as they had hoped.  If you know the Yuru Yuri series then go for it.

Plot Summary: The middle school days of Akari and co. resume normally as they enjoy their fun times together again.

JK Meshi!

Another anime short and this is definitely one of those non-watchable ones. I thought it was going to be okay when I saw some preview content, but that changed when I actually saw the first episode.

JK Meshi! The artwork is just so bad. It looks cheap. It’s almost like it’s made by a group of chimps. It inspired me to find out which studio made this. I honestly have never heard of this studio before and I can honestly say that they haven’t made a single thing worth watching yet.

The story… It’s like a terribly bad version of Shokugeki no Soma without the competitiveness.

I cannot recommend this. It’s supposed to be funny but I didn’t even laugh once. I just sat in my chair for three minutes with a frown on my face. What a waste of time.

Plot Summary: Three high school girls have mastered the art of cooking simple, B-class dishes called JK meshi. The three girls — Reina, Ryōka, and Ruriko — are all classmates in their second year of high school. They often get distracted when studying for tests, and when they do, they cook JK meshi.

Peeping Life TV

I absolutely hate that we have so many anime shorts this season. It’s ridiculous. Only one or two out of ten is actually watchable and the rest is nothing more than a complete waste of time and money. But this time they actually turned an anime short into a regular show, which is absolutely the worst.

Peeping Life TVThis is one of those non-watchable shows. I mean, the artwork is just so annoying and so bad that I couldn’t even finish the first episode. After fifteen minutes I just called it a day.

The story isn’t any better. It’s basically a story (is it?) about bashing other stories. Nobody is safe. Black Jack, characters from beloved children’s stories and even characters from American cartoons (or so I’ve been told) get used in order to desperate try to make you laugh.

I won’t watch this. It’s dreadful and not even that funny. Hell, I can count the amount of times I cracked a little smile during the first episode on one hand. I absolutely do not recommend this.

Plot Summary: Heroes from worlds of Tezuka Production and Tatsunoko Production “evolved” for their TV appearance.
