Ajin

Okay, I was going to watch the movie, but when I heard that there was also a regular anime adaption coming that was to follow the story accurately I decided not to. And I am kind of glad that I decided that now that I’ve seen the first episode.

AjinI think the animation is great. I don’t know which studio made this, but I like that 2.5D style ever since I saw Knights of Sidonia. It looks very nice and I have very high hopes for this. Very promising indeed.

The artwork is good, but the story just finishes it for me. It clinched my interest in one go and I don’t think I’ll be getting tired of this any time soon. The story is very interesting and I especially like Kei, one of the main characters.

I really do recommend this. Why not indulge in a little supernatural horror with quite a bit of mystery? I think it shows a great deal of promise.

Plot Summary: 17 years ago, immortals first appeared on the battlefields of Africa. Later, rare, unknown new immortal lifeforms began appearing among humans, and they became known as “Ajin” (demi-humans). Just before summer vacation, a Japanese high school student is instantly killed in a traffic accident on his way home from school. However, he is revived, and a price is placed on his head. Thus begins a boy’s life on the run from all of humankind.

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!

I have been reading a lot about Ajin and I thought that it would air today so that I could write about it right away. I guess that’s not happening today. But hey, this makes up for it. Yet another anime about an RPG game world done right.

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!The artwork really surprised me. I thought it was going to be a little bit childish at first. Imagine my surprise when I discovered how wrong I was. The characters look great and the level of detail is absolutely nothing to complain about.

This time it’s not about a guy that logs into a game and can’t log out anymore. It has an interesting story that makes you want to watch more. It is funny, adventurous and it has a lot of potential for a great romance story.

Recommending this show seems like a safe bet to me. I enjoy it very much and I have a feeling that it will only get better from here on out. Go ahead and give it a chance!

Plot Summary: Kazuma Satō is a hikikomori (shut-in) die-hard fan of games, anime, and manga. A traffic accident brings his disappointingly brief life to an end, or it should have, but he wakes up and sees a beautiful girl who introduces herself as a goddess. She asks him if he’d like to go to another world but he can only bring one thing with him. Kazumi chooses to bring the goddess. With that, he is transported to another world and his great adventure subjugating the demon king begins, but first the hard work of finding food, clothing, and shelter begins. Kazuma wants to live in peace, but the goddess raises one problem after another, and then the demon king’s army has its eyes set on him.

Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm

What is going on? People sound so excited about this one and that continued even when the first episode finally arrived. I just finished watching it and I honestly think it’s mediocre at the very best. Surely it can’t be just me?

Ao no Kanata no Four RhythmI’ll be honest; the artwork looks good. There are a few things that could use some improvement, but the overall level of detail is pretty impressive. Even the characters look nice.

That being said; I do not really care for this story. It did not pique my interest at all and when the episode had finished I asked myself what the hell I just watched. Is it really all about flying shoes and how high schoolers use them?

I cannot recommend this. It could be the first episode that’s weak, but first impressions are very important where I come from. I’m simply not impressed.

Plot Summary: In a world where flying is as simple as riding a bicycle, there is a popular sport called “Flying Circus” (dogfight race). The protagonist who once hoped for a future in this sport suffered a setback due to an overwhelming defeat, and withdrew from the sport for this and some other reason. However, he met the transfer student Asuka Kurashina, and in teaching her to fly the skies, the old passion returned. He takes part in the Flying Circus again.

Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut

‘Okay’ is really the only word that I can use to describe this show. It’s not extremely interesting and, although this is just my personal opinion, I think it looks like a slightly cheaper version of the Infinite Stratos: IS series.

Saijaku Muhai no BahamutThe artwork is alright. The characters look pretty cool and the mechs so far look pretty good too. Yes, there are quite a few things that I would’ve done differently, like making that thing with the swords a little less obvious, but oh well…

Story-wise it leaves a bit to be desired. It’s kind of predictable and it doesn’t really make you want to watch more of it.

If you loved the Infinite Stratos: IS series then you might want to check this one out. I for one will wait for the second episode to see whether or not I will continue following this show.

Plot Summary: Lux is a former prince of an empire named Arcadia that was overthrown via a rebellion five years earlier. Lux accidentally trespasses in a female dormitory’s bathing area, sees the kingdom’s new princess Lisesharte naked, and incurs her wrath. Lisesharte then challenges Lux to a Drag-Ride duel. Drag-Rides are ancient armored mechanical weapons that have been excavated from ruins all around the world. Lux used to be called the strongest Drag-Knight, but now he’s known as the “undefeated weakest” Drag-Knight because he will absolutely not attack in battle. After his duel with Lisesharte, Lux ends up attending the female-only academy that trains royals to be Drag-Knights.

Akagami no Shirayuki-hime 2

I grossly underestimated this show back when the very first episode aired. I thought it was a cheap rip-off with a weird spin. I humbly admit that I was horribly wrong and that this is not at all like Disney’s story.

Akagami no Shirayuki-hime 2The artwork is very good. I know that Bones is working on it and those guys have an incredible pedigree. They are responsible for many top-quality anime over the years. It goes without saying that I have no complaints about the artwork.

I was mistaken about the story. This is completely different. It is filled with betrayed, love and action. I honestly cannot see this get any better than it already is.

I really do recommend this. It’s very amusing to watch and there’s hardly ever a dull moment. I have yet to come across an episode where I actually got bored.

Plot Summary: This is the continuation of the story about Shirayuki, a young independent and persistent girl with rare red hair who is under training as the palace herbalist, Zen Wistalia, second prince of the kingdom of Clarines, and the journey and struggles that they all go through in dealing with their new found love for each other and the unwanted attention that Shirayuki brings due to her hair.

Nijiiro Days

It’s technically not an anime-short since it’s at least ten minutes per episode, but that does not change the fact that I’m kind of writing this against my will.

Nijiiro DaysThe artwork is so-so and that’s me being quite generous. I am not a big fan of pretty-boy anime because those characters usually end up looking gay or so random that you couldn’t even tell them apart in a ten-character line-up.

The story just doesn’t do anything for me. It’s so boring and pointless. I’m not a huge fan of slice of life stuff to begin with.

I don’t see myself watching this next week and I don’t see why I should tell people to do otherwise. It’s just not interesting.

Plot Summary: Natsuki, Tomoya, Keiichi, and Tsuyoshi are high school students and close friends: The four boys have no club activities, and they hurry through their studies so they can spend their days having fun. Their main topic of interest: love. Natsuki has an unrequited crush on Anna, a girl from another class, and his friends keep meddling in their relationship.

Hai to Gensou no Grimgar

There’s always one of these shows but it seems that this season has at least two of them. That’s right; characters find themselves in a different game-like world where they will have to survive if they ever want to get out.

Hai to Gensou no GrimgarI honestly can’t flame about the artwork. It’s not at all bad. The characters are pretty darn good, the level of detail is very satisfying and something tells me that we haven’t seen the half of it, that it gets even better than this.

Story-wise it’s very interesting. It’s not very original, but they did take that extra step by making the characters choose individual classes and masters. I like that.

I certainly enjoyed the first episode and I will certainly be watching the next one. I suggest you give this a chance. It may not be as good as Sword Art Online, but it’s still pretty good.

Plot Summary: When Haruhito awakens, he’s in the dark. He doesn’t know where he is, why is he here, and where he came from. Around him there are several men and women who have the same circumstances. Haruhito and his companions find themselves in a “game-like world” called Grimgar and must form a party, cooperate, and learn new skills to survive the harsh environment together.

Schwarzesmarken

Okay, it’s not exactly Gundam-worthy, but I must admit that it managed to pique my interest. I have been told that this is basically a Muv-Luv Alternative copy with a different story. Well… We’ll see.

SchwarzesmarkenI am definitely not going to blow air up their behinds. The artwork is nothing special. I find the mechs ‘okay’ and the characters rather boring.

Story-wise it’s a minefield. I was aware with the Japanese’s obsession for German crap, but this is really out there. It’s actually in Germany (two sides) and yet they speak Japanese. That’s rather weird.

If it’s a good mecha-genre anime you want then I suggest you check out Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans instead. If you have nothing else to do then you might want to give this one a shot.

Plot Summary: Germany was divided into East and West after WWII, where citizens of either treated the other side as enemies. In the midst of Cold War, however, the Earth was invaded by an alien life form landed on Kashgar, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, known as “Beta.” Now, ten years after the first contact, East Germany, formally German Democratic Republic, has become the front line.
