That mom… Seishuu’s mother is one hell of a messed up character. She truly managed to put a weird spin on the ending. Nevertheless, I don’t think I’d ever forget about Barakamon and definitely believe that it deserves another season.
That mother of his was crazy. She refused to let him go back to that island, so she decided to paste the walls of his room with little talismans that told him not to return to that ungodly island. Are they by any chance Jewish? I’m pretty sure only Jewish mothers cherish their children to a degree where they would practically force them to live at home for the rest of their lives. Can you really blame Seishuu for being a little bit strange? Just look at the characters that supposedly raised him. Both father and mother have got a screw or two loose. That poor guy…
Anyway, Seishuu decided that his last submit for this season would be that sign what all those people’s names one it. I found that rather precious. He probably didn’t win, which makes sense and kind of pisses me off, but I think it’s brilliant and really finishes things off nicely. Do I have any regrets? Hell no. it was great from start to finish.
Did you see the look on everyone’s face when he returned? Priceless. This is just one of those rare endings where things make sense. It’s an actual ending, you know? I have no complaints about it whatsoever. I’m just really glad that I decided to write about Barakamon from start to finish. It was worth it.Read More
It took us a couple of months, but I for one finally understand why Seishuu is so messed up. The guy is strange, cannot really deal with other people and is always overreacting. Now I finally realized that the guy never stood a chance.
So Seishuu returned home and took his latest creation with him. It was rare for him, apparently, to write something after being inspired by something. Can it really be that he became somewhat famous by creating uninspired work? Is it really that simple? Still, I could not believe my eyes when Seishuu lost control and actually destroyed the piece that he work so hard to create just because he was nervous about what that old man, the same old man that he hit in episode one, would say about it. How messed up is that? Why come home in the first place if you are going to destroy the piece that you were going to submit?
Now then, I am not at all surprised anymore that Seishuu turned out this way. His father looks old. Really old. And the guy has a messed up personality. His mother on the other hand looks really young. And she, too, has a messed up personality. It’s no wonder that he became like that with parents like that. Still, they do seem to love him very much.
Anyway, the next and final episode seems promising. Seishuu is going all-in with his latest work and I have this feeling that he will see his friends from the island soon enough. Also, I am pretty certain that he’s going to win the next competition. That would make for a good ending, don’t you think? A victory and a little reunion… Yeah, I’d like that.Read More
What’s this!? Could I have been wrong? Could it be that we’re getting a couple of serious episodes? Don’t get me wrong, these past ten weeks have been delightful. I just think that a few serious, progress-filled episodes would do this show a lot of good.
So Seishuu-sensei has been working on his calligraphy and experienced a lot of ups and downs. He finally got inspired and created something that he thought was good, after which he submitted it to some competition. Now we are saddled up with a nervous Seishuu-sensei and a group of people that want him back home.
So yeah, Seishuu seems to have finally gone home. Permanently? I don’t know. All I know is that he seems to have left without having said anything, although he did try to. Let’s just face it; a guy like that belongs in the city and not in some remote village with a few dozen local hicks. I doubt he would like to spend the rest of his days being dominated by little children.
So Seishuu left, huh? The end? No. I don’t think so. I actually thought about the possibility of Naru and the others visiting him in the city after they find out that he’s gone, but will they? Will they really? Those characters have gotten really attached to him so it’s definitely a possibility. I personally think it’s more likely that he will go back to his home city to attend that competition in person and listen to what people have to say. But after that I actually think he’s going back to that little town where he got inspired in the first place. I don’t know… We’ll just have to wait and see how this will play out.Read More
Yep. We probably return to the world of calligraphy at the final episode. Until then it’s all fun and games I suppose. I knew it was going to be this way so I am not at all upset. I’m fine with all of it as long as I can keep watching Naru-chan.
I fail to understand the first half though. I can’t at all remember my early days. My earliest memory must’ve been of me at age twelve or something. Was I just like that? I am aware that kids have the attention span of hummingbirds, but this was something else. They treat Naru like some toy and then start mouthing off Seishuu for being an idiot and whatnot, only to switch personalities and mood when one of their little friends show up. I am all but certain that I was not like that whatsoever. It just reminds me that children are stupid little creatures that siphon money from your bank account on a daily basis
I must admit that that bathing scene was pretty funny. I actually used to bathe like that, you know? My mother would boil a lot of water and pour it into a tub. I would wait until the water temperature had cooled down a bit and then jump in to clean myself. It just reminds me of how grateful I am for today’s technology. Most children nowadays don’t have to go through all that.
And I am not going to say it. I do not expect anything from next week’s episode. So what if Seishuu suddenly got inspired to do some work? He suddenly works for like half a minute and suddenly next week’s episode gets all serious? Nah. It’ll probably be the same story. Just let Naru tease him again or something. That’ll be fine.Read More
Seishuu’s friends have gone back to Tokyo after seeing how he was doing. This made me believe that Seishuu would start to focus a bit more on his work. Boy, it is quite painful to see how incredibly naïve I was. There’s no way that Seishuu will leave those kids alone or vice versa.
So it’s Naru’s birthday and the whole group is practically going nuts about getting her gifts and preparing a surprise party. Seishuu did not escape this insanity and joined a group of boys to hunt down insects to give Naru as a gift. You know, I’ve never once met a little girls that actually liked insects. To think that those exist…
I must say that it was quite painful to see Seishuu play along with those kids. He kept hurting himself, he couldn’t even catch a single bug and the one that he did catch ended up getting killed. You’d think that this would only be a scene of a couple of minutes, but no… This was pretty much half of this week’s episode.
I don’t care though. I learned a lot more about Naru and her charm just got bigger. She is still the most adorable character on the show and she just keeps getting cuter. I actually got a little choked up when she said that she got quite bored and sad whenever she has to watch over her grandmother’s grave during some kind of special day. It just got to me when she said that this year was so much better and enjoyable since she had Seishuu to keep her company. Her grandfather, supposedly her last blood related relative, won’t be with them for much longer if you consider his age, so I’m guessing that Seishuu will play an even bigger role in her future (not that something like that would actually happen on Barakamon, of course).Read More
I was surfing the internet a couple of days ago when I stumbled upon a Barakamon topic. It seems that there has been talk about a live-action series. Wouldn’t that be interesting to see “real” Naru on your screen? I might actually like that.
Anyway, the group decided to go fishing before Seishuu’s friends, Takao and that annoying little brat he brought with him, return back home to resume their own lives. You immediately know that it won’t be one of your regular fishing trips. Nothing has been regular in any of the episodes. I just laughed as they messed up even the simplest of things without worrying about what they’re actually doing. So what if they fish using strange equipment or methods? Everything will be fine as long as Naru is around to raise a little bit of hell. It keeps things interesting.
Quite frankly, I’m not into all of that melodrama crap. Let them shop for a few souvenirs before they go back home and say goodbye to them afterwards. No point in dragging out the inevitable. That’s why I couldn’t really understand that scene where they all had to go through that metal detector. I failed to find that funny. Perhaps I’ll watch that scene again after I finish writing this.
I’m hoping for some explosive improvement next week. Seishuu has his little reunion and he’s certainly had plenty of fun. Now would be a good time for him to grow a little as an artist and win something once again. After all, isn’t that the whole point of him being there? Would be nice to see if he actually improved on that island.Read More
Another amusing episode! The openings never fail to amuse, do they? You fire up the episode and you immediately start smiling even though nothing’s actually happened yet. You just know something funny’s about to happen.
Naru just never seizes to amaze. She will make you crazy, trick you and help you all at the same time. That scene with her selling seashells was hilarious. Even I would probably be a little startled if one of them were to open up in my hand. I think she would make a pretty good business woman by the way she dealt with Seishuu’s visitors.
I still cannot get over the fact that the characters are still bugging Seishuu. They come in without asking, eat his food (that, to be fair, was given to him in the first place) and they take it all for granted. That is why I’m hoping for a change now that these two characters have shown up. Do I expect much? Well, definitely not a lot.
They showed up and one of them, his editor or his manager I believe, was drunk as hell and messed things up quite a bit. He even brought a two-faced kid that defeated him in that competition a few episodes back. He claims to be a fan, but damn, he is two-faced like you couldn’t possibly believe. He is so full of sh*t that he would make a great politician. Just throw a few insects at him, leave him alone in the woods or booby-trap his stuff with creepy crawlers to make him go home. He serves no purpose right now. Might as well make him go away again now that he has given Seishuu something to think about.Read More
You know, ever since I saw that episode with a manly Naru, which was no easy task, I have been kind of on edge every time I start up a new Barakamon episode. I think I’m traumatized. I just took a sip of strawberry soda when I started watching that episode. A gulp of soda went down badly and I couldn’t stop coughing.
Anyway, I’m actually starting to doubt if that village is right for Seishuu. I understand that he needs to lighten up and relax for once, but it seems as though he hasn’t been working much lately. He’s just following those kids around every day. I don’t think that’s plan. I suppose it could be because they don’t show him working a lot as they did when the show first started.
It was also quite interesting to see how those girls showed interest in Seishuu’s private life. They all wanted to know if he had a girlfriend and what she looked like. Can you honestly see that guy with a girl on his arms? Not me. He’s too uptight, aggressive and kind of antisocial. He needs a loving and patient girlfriend that will mould him into a man (or something that comes close to one).
I wonder why Seishuu takes everything so personal. He sees those kids play and jump off of huge cliffs and the guy just simply freaks out. Those guys have been doing these strange things ever since they were born, so why panic? I’ll just use this opportunity to think that they all have become closer somehow. Everyone seems to be pretty comfortable around one another.
I hope next week’s episode will shed some light on Seishuu’s future. His manager (or something like that) arrived on the island with some guy (probably a creepy fan). This will probably become a little chaotic when those two show up and meet a few of the villagers. It sure sounds quite entertaining when you think about it.Read More
