Binbougami ga! episode 05

Oh god. Is it just me or are they focussing a bit too much on Dragon Ball Z parodies? Don’t get me wrong here, they are funny as hell. It just seems as though they are milking that particular option dry. I don’t mind watching that kind of thing, but at least focus on something else. They even mixed things up in Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, so why not do the same thing here?

So anyway, this week’s episode took a very strange turn. Momiji, with the help of another one of her godly friends, obtained this lunch box that had the ability to change a person’s age. Someone could become old as hell or as young as child with the use of such a box. Unfortunately, Ichiko wanted to outsmart Momiji by opening up her delivery, only to find herself trapped by one of those special boxes. So now we have a very young Ichiko (I’m guessing six years or so) and a fortune-hungry Momiji, fully willing to make use of that situation by draining some of her fortune. Things were pretty predictable at this point.

Both Momou and Bobby, as to be expected, got involved when Ichiko asked them for help. Those two were sent off to find another one of those special boxes to return her to normal, whilst Ichiko decided to sneak her way back inside of Keita’s home, hoping to get away from Momiji. Ichiko was too confused to realize her feelings towards Keita. Must be strange to have never loved, huh?

It came as no surprise to me that Momiji found her, and that those two idiots, Momou and Bobby, got distracted due to their own sick minds. However, I did not expect that Keita would fall off a cliff, so I’m rather curious in finding out how that ends. Ichiko will probably pop up somewhere and save him with her insane amount of good fortune.

And finally I would like to end this post by saying that I may have misspelled a character’s name. I’ve received two mails that it’s “Momo” or “Momoo”. Frankly, I will simply call that masochistic dog-god Momou. I don’t think it really matters that much, to be honest.

Binbougami ga! episode 04

I’m not sure if the line “another one bites the dust” applies here, but a few more shows got somewhat humiliated by this anime. Mind you, I do think that the story keeps getting funnier and funnier, especially when that new character, a dog god, showed up. Absolutely brilliant!

So yeah, this perverted dog god showed up to help Momiji with her mission, which would be to take away Ichiko’s fortune. Now, that’s when things took an unexpected turn. It seems that Momou, the dog god I mentioned earlier, turned up to help Momiji. Little did we, the viewers, know that this dog god is actually a masochist that likes it when Momiji practically tries to kill him. Apparently, he likes it when she hits him, pours boiling water in his mouth and does all sorts of unspeaking things to him. It’s truly an awful sight to see. That’s right, awful, but funny as hell.

Momou, after transforming into a Chihuahua, during which Dragon Ball Z got raped, he went out and made sure that Ichika took him in. Things soon got even stranger when he actually came to look Ichika a little. He even helped her find her butler’s letters when they got lost in the trash. Mind you, I don’t think she liked it when he changed back into his human-like form during their bath. Nice sight to see though.

Frankly, I have high hopes for next week’s episode. It’s a given that a few more (famous) shows will fall prey to Binbougami ga! However, I think that’s one of the reasons why Haiyore! Nyaruko-san turned out to be amusing as well. I can’t wait to see more of this dog god / god of misfortune combination!

Binbougami ga! episode 03

Oh god, the madness continues. I must say that this week’s episode was a bit more… serious. It didn’t focus as much on the strange relationship between Ichika and Momiji as one would expect of this anime. I for one liked it! Twenty minutes of pure slapstick comedy gets boring quickly.

I’m amazed, I really am. Binbougami Ga! raped both Lupin the third and Naruto within just the first five minutes. It makes Haiyore! Nyaruko-san seem ‘mild’ when it comes to parodies. Is that good or bad? Who knows? I laughed, and that’s all that matters. Though some (die-hard) fans might not like what they see during those first few minutes.

This episode focussed a bit more on Ichika’s luck. She has lots of it, plus she keeps absorbing other people’s fortune. Spending time with her classmate’s family opened her eyes to that. Ichika comes from a wealthy family and doesn’t know how it’s like to be poor, so she was kind of ‘derailed’ when she spent some with a poor family. She didn’t like all the misfortune she saw and made that very clear to that family.

It had gotten to a point where Ichika kept interfering with their lives. One could definitely see their fortune being drained from them, seeing as bad things kept happening to them. Hell, one of the children ended up in the sewers after he lost the card that Ichika bought him. Things became even worse when he ended up in the canal. The poor kid will probably need a psychiatrist.

Anyway, that’s when Ichika realized that there are consequences to her actions, and that her fortune-draining abilities are dangerous to others. Still, she jumped in the water in order to save that boy, which succeeded due to her absurd amount of good luck. It’ll be interesting to see what she will do from now on.

Binbougami ga! episode 02

Oh my god. Haiyore! Nyaruko-san really lives on within this anime. The similarities are mind-blowing. I can’t believe they already raped the hell out of Dragon Ball Z and Rosario + Vampire by showing us those messed up parodies. It makes you wonder what they’re going to mess up next.

Basically, this episode was just an introduction of characters, really. We already know Momiji-chan and Ichika-chan, but we were also introduced to some perverted priest and a whole lot of supernatural stuffed animals, summoned when Ichika learned how to use her “fortune”. I guess this is going to be thirteen whole episodes where Ichika tries to get rid of Momiji by using her supernatural abilities and vice versa. Kind of made me think about the Rise of the Titans, a movie where human beings rise up to fight against the gods. Good thing that this anime is a gag-like comedy, and not some overdramatic movie.

Anyway, Ichika’s everyday life will never be the same again. She has a god of misfortune on her ass that wants to kill her, a perverted priest that probably wants to rape her and now she also has a house full of supernatural beings that don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. It’s nice that she was able to summon those creatures, but it’s pretty pointless if she doesn’t know how to get rid of them afterwards. Unless she actually wants to live with them. Let’s face it; she’s a girl and a lot of girls are nuts about stuffed animals (say whatever you want, but it’s true!).

No doubt that next week’s episode will also contain a lot of comedy, messed up action and a scene or two where other great anime get viciously raped in the form of messed up parodies. Still, at least we don’t have to watch thirteen episodes where we constantly see the same handicapped Pokémon, unlike with Haiyore! Nyaruko-san. Binbougami ga! has potential, so I will be looking forward to the rest.

Binbougami ga!

What in the unholy hell did I see here? I thought Haiyore! Nyaruko-san had ended? Watching this was really strange. Was I supposed to laugh? Was I supposed to sit here in awe as I saw two strange girls fight over happiness and unhappiness? I honestly don’t know.

I won’t go into detail about the artwork. It looks like a gag-anime with a lot of pretty effects. The characters look pretty interesting and the surroundings aren’t that bad. I don’t think it’s the artwork we need to focus on when talking about this anime.

No, it’s definitely the story we need to keep in mind here. A story about a goddess of misfortune that was sent to stalk a girl with an abnormal amount of luck? Now that’s interesting, not to mention unique.

I’ll bet that all comedy fans would absolutely love the heck out of this one. Sure, it can get pretty childish, but you have to look passed that. Ignore that childishness and you can see an anime with quite a bit of hilarious potential. I’m quite interesting in seeing how this one turns out.

Plot Summary: At the expense of the people and things around her, Sakura has absorbed so much “happiness energy” that she has caused an energy imbalance in the world. In order to return balance to the world, the Poverty God, Momiji, sets out to take away Sakura’s ability to absorb this energy. Will Momiji be able to put a stop to Sakura’s absorbing abilities, or will the God succumb to her happiness?
