Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT episode 04

It’s been no secret that Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai always kept me a bit on the edge. They are a fan of throwing in gay stuff into their mixture, and that makes me feel uncomfortable at times. That is why I absolutely loved this week’s episode.

[Mazui]_Boku_Ha_Tomodachi_Ga_Sukunai_NEXT_-_04_[14FE887E].mkv_snapshot_07.01_[2013.02.03_00.03.32]These guys are evil. Take a busty blonde named Sena, a girl that has a thing for adorable little girls, throw in Kobata, an adorable little girl, and a couple of theme park tickets and what do you get? That’s right! You get an outing with the whole group, because we all know that Kobato isn’t nearly dumb enough to go anywhere alone with Sena.

I’ll be honest; I didn’t think anything special was going to happen. Everyone was having fun, even when going on terrifying rollercoaster rides, and it all seemed pretty normal. The Yozora versus Sena rivalry, the Maria versus Kobato rivalry, the whole world versus Kodaka rivalry and, surprise, Rika was still a pervert and Yukimura was still strange. It didn’t faze me, not even when Rika said “F*CK!” during that rollercoaster ride, which was kind of awesome to be honest.

[Mazui]_Boku_Ha_Tomodachi_Ga_Sukunai_NEXT_-_04_[14FE887E].mkv_snapshot_18.19_[2013.02.03_00.04.24]No… It was pretty normal… Until the second half started. Why wait till now!? My god, why? I won’t lie and say that I felt uncomfortable as I saw Yukimura’s desperate attempt to wash Kodaka’s back. I’m used to that, sadly. But to think that they turned the ship around and gave Yukimura a whole new gender. It was a brief period of time where I was the master of my fever, a moment where I could command my fever to get the hell out and get me a coffee from Starbucks. It was great. Not just the fact that Yukimura is a she after all, but also the way in which they cared to announce it. Absolutely brilliant. Go ahead, Japan, my faith in you guys has been completely renewed.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT episode 03

Now this is more like it! This is definitely an episode for the books! I’m also a bit relieved that they kind of stopped with that whole gay games thing. It was very uncomfortable to watch last week. But yeah, that’s pretty much a thing of the past now.

[Mazui]_Boku_Ha_Tomodachi_Ga_Sukunai_NEXT_-_03_[9EF5A349].mkv_snapshot_01.09_[2013.01.26_16.54.34]The first half of this week’s episode was by far the best. The idea of having Maria spend the night with Kodaka and Kobato was absolutely brilliant. Throwing Kate’s meddling attitude into the mixture made things even better.

The fact that Kobato and Maria don’t really get along made things even better. Their hilarious rivalry was the order of the day, and it made things a lot easier for Kodaka. Those two were tiring each other out, allowing him to do other things without having to worry about keeping an eye on them. I’m impressed though; he kept a straight face when Maria undressed and threw her underwear in his face. That guy is lolicon-proof! Well done, Kodaka!

[Mazui]_Boku_Ha_Tomodachi_Ga_Sukunai_NEXT_-_03_[9EF5A349].mkv_snapshot_16.09_[2013.01.26_16.55.30]The second half wasn’t that bad though. I like the idea of them playing the king’s game (a game where a random player gets the ability to command another player to do something without giving them the ability to refuse). That’s why I was pretty excited when Sena and Kodaka had to kiss. It’s too bad that Yozora’s jealousy got in the way of that, even though it was probably her that wrote that command in the first place. Talk about a plan backfiring…

Anyway, is Kodaka’s father finally joining the big picture? His called his son, which seems to be a rare occurrence, to ask if he’s planning to marry the chairman’s daughter, Sena. I simply have to know how this ends! It sure would be nice to have that guy in the spotlight for an episode or two. Another scary character to liven things up, right?

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT episode 02

What the hell was with this episode? It was very strange from the very beginning. I’m not complaining or anything, as I’m used to this sort of thing. After all, I did see the first season. It’s just that I wasn’t expecting this kind of… “Content”.

[Mazui]_Boku_Ha_Tomodachi_Ga_Sukunai_NEXT_-_02_[AA292D99].mkv_snapshot_09.25_[2013.01.19_22.22.27]The first half was very difficult for me. I have nothing against gay people, but I get very uncomfortable around them. I went absolutely nuts when watching “Just Another Gay Movie”. I refused to watch movies for a whole week. Imagine my surprise when Boku Ha Tomodachi Ga Sukunai took the gayest turn ever. I never thought that I watch be watching an episode about gay characters that wanted to make their own gay game. Really? It’s bad enough that’s an anime within an anime, but did it really have to be gay? Did those gay characters really have to make their own gay game? It seems a bit like overkill.

[Mazui]_Boku_Ha_Tomodachi_Ga_Sukunai_NEXT_-_02_[AA292D99].mkv_snapshot_13.30_[2013.01.19_22.21.21]The first half was a bit better, although I still didn’t feel very comfortable. Things got a bit livelier when Maria’s older sister, Kate, showed up. I would mind seeing more of her. We could always use a busty nun on the screen. Besides, it should be quite amusing with that character’s personality. So yeah, make me proud, Japan!

Now, the last bit was quite interesting. We all know that Yozora has a thing for Kodaka. It’s not a secret, but it was never this obvious before either. Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t her personality seem a bit different than in season one? It’s like I’m waiting a new character. She’s a lot more passive towards Sena now, too. I’ll just have to get used to this, I guess…

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT

It’s party time! Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai is back! I have been looking forward to this for months! I can’t believe the ratings though. The show barely has a six, what’s up with that? It has received nothing but good reviews so far.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXTThe artwork is still as good as ever, although I wish it was a little bit more ecchi every now and then. It’s nice that Sena can be so carefree, but at least show us a bit more cleavage or something. I’m sure Kodaka would like that, too. And, of course, we get to see Kobato again!

There’s no need for me to focus on the story, right? It’s still the same as ever; a rollercoaster of entertainment that never seizes to amaze. I can imagine people b*tching about the artwork, but definitely not the story.

I most certainly recommend this, providing you’ve already seen the first season. It’s filled with lots of entertaining situations that keep your eyes glued to your screen, so don’t hesitate to give it a shot!

Plot Summary: The Neighbor’s Club – a club founded for the purpose of making friends, where misfortunate boys and girls with few friends live out their regrettable lives.

Although Yozora Mikazuki faced a certain incident at the end of summer, the daily life of the Neighbor’s Club goes on as usual. A strange nun, members of the student council and other new faces make an appearance, causing Kodaka Hasegawa’s life to grow even busier.

While they all enjoy going to the amusement park, playing games, celebrating birthdays, and challenging the “school festival”—a symbol of the school life normal people live—the relations amongst the members slowly begins to change…

Let the next stage begin, on this unfortunate coming-of-age love comedy!!
