I am once again short on time, yet I refuse to keep this Gate post short because of it. I never would’ve thought that I would come to love it so much, you know? I was looking forward to it but I never expected it to be this good.
So we picked up the story and started off with a desperate elf that wanted Japan’s help to save her people from annihilation. I’m guessing it’s the very same Fire Dragon that Youji and his men attacked to safe those villagers that’s now attacking that elf’s people. I can’t be sure of course, but it would make sense. They attacked that dragon and hurt is badly, so it goes without saying that they pissed it off to no end. It’s probably out for revenge and is going to city after city until it finds the people responsible for its pain and suffering.
Yeah, I know, I have quite the imagination, but it doesn’t sound wrong at all. In fact, it sounds quite logical. They made it quite clear that the Fire Dragon in question was already hurt when it attacked the elves. We know that those things are powerful and that there aren’t many people in their world that can take one down. Rory is probably the only one capable of fighting one.
We all know that she will eventually encounter Youji and that he’s bound to end up helping him. The thought of being responsible for the pain and suffering of her people is something that he doesn’t want to live with. I’m sure of it. I’m pretty sure he’ll enlist the help of Rory and the rest. I can’t wait to see how that’ll go down.Read More
I absolutely hate how Gate has been coming in late these past two weeks. I want to watch Gate as soon as it becomes available, but now it would seem that I have to wait an extra day. That’s a really hard thing to do.
Anyway, the visit to Japan is over and we’re back in the world of dragons, knights, elves and magic casters. The princess has seen what she’s up against and even she instantly realized that she has to do everything in her power to make sure that her beloved empire makes peace with Japan in order to prevent that empire from being destroyed within a day. I think a few bombs would be more than enough to level that city to the ground if push comes to shove. Those people haven’t even seen what Japan’s capable of yet. They have no idea.
And as for Rory? Yeah. She’s still awesome. Still the best. She really seems to have a thing for that Youji. At first I thought she was just teasing, but lately it seems to have gotten quite serious. I have a feeling that those two are going to become very close in future. She certainly won’t let him go just like that. She’s almost always with him.
I’m really looking forward to the next episode, too. That dark elf will try to get Japan’s forces to help her out and I’m pretty sure that Youji’s party is going to get involved seeing as they’re probably the ones that hurt that fire dragon in the first place. Now’s a good time to prove just how powerful Japan’s modern technology really is.Read More
Another very nice episode. And I’m truly very stupid. I was getting a little nervous about Gate ending, but I forgot that Gate has twenty-four episodes. The show deserves every single one of them. What a delight it is to watch.
I’ll get straight to what I want to say most: the princess realized her inferiority. She knows that her father’s beloved empire stands no chance against the might of the Japanese army. Their technologies are worlds apart and even though the princess has people on her side that can use magic and various other stuff, it still doesn’t make up for the fact that Japan has tanks, jets, helicopters and god only knows what else. They have a huge arsenal at their disposal and they are clearly not afraid to use any of it if it means that they’ll be able to secure that world’s resources and to prevent another attack.
I am actually a little shocked by how powerful Rory is. She went up against a lot of armed soldiers with automatic assault rifles and she killed them all. Yes, they managed to land a few hits, but she instantly regenerated. Isn’t she a huge threat to Japan? She’s on their side for now and she will always be my favourite Gate character no matter what.
I am looking forward to the next episode. It’s really hard to tell what will happen next. I’m sure Youji will get into trouble again. I just hope he gets more alone time with Rory. Those two are hilarious and quite interesting together. And just to be very clear: no, I’m not a lolicon. I just really, really happen to like Rori’s personality, appearance and fighting style.Read More
Boy, this episode was just one big rollercoaster ride. So many interesting and amusing scenes that I’m thinking about watching this episode again tomorrow. Gate is turning out to be quite the memorable show if you ask me.
We learned a lot more about Youji this week. Apparently he’s quite a skilled soldier if I am to believe the rumours. Why doubt it? I saw what the Japanese did to the Americans this week. It was hilarious to see American soldiers get slaughtered by Japanese soldiers, even though they had the advantage of outnumbering the Japanese. America, like many other countries, want access to that gate even though it’s on Japanese ground. They, apparently, don’t mind using force. The whole world seems to be scared of Japan getting a hold of all those resources.
It was also quite noticeable how the princess and her companion have changed since they came to Japan. They realized that Japan is way ahead and way more powerful. But instead of getting scared they actually seemed to be enjoying themselves, especially when they visited a hot spring. Japan might actual win that princess over to their side.
My attention is focussed on Rory though. Yeah, the episode ended with her forcing herself on Youji, but we all know that nothing will happen. Youji will do the ‘right’ thing and resist her charms. What I am focussing on is the idea of Rory attacking those cocky American soldiers. I can’t wait to see what happens if they actually stand face to face with Rory and the others.Read More
There is no denying it; this episode was awesome! I laughed so much and my eyes were glued to my screen the whole time. I could definitely do with one or two more of these episodes. I’m so glad that I picked Gate to write about.
I’ll just get straight to it; the group went back through the gate to visit Japan. They were all shocked by what they saw; strange constructions as far as the eye could see. They, and by they I mean the princes and her companion, immediately realized how inferior they are. They can send massive armies to battle the Japanese military, but even she now knows for sure that there’s nothing that she or her father could ever do. At least, not as they are now. They might be able to steal some of the technology and use it against Japan in the future, that’s an option.
Anyway, I also laughed (and cheered a little) when Rory took the mic. She kept calling that obnoxious woman ‘little girl’ because of their difference in age. That woman did not like it and got a nice burn when she found out that Rory is hundreds of years old. The look on all their faces as that became known was priceless and well worth watching.
I’m not even going to focus on the fact that this Otaku captain of theirs isn’t only a Ranger but a Special Forces soldier as well. That’s just too much to image. I’m just shocked that it turns out that he was married at some point in his life. To an actual woman. I honestly don’t even want to know why they broke up. I’m guessing it has something to do with anime and manga.Read More
This certainly took a strange turn. But I can see many new possibilities now, one of which really speaks to me. Still, I’m pretty happy with Gate so far. It’s been nothing but a delight and I’m pretty sure it won’t let me down any time soon.
I’ll admit that I’m a little disappointed at how that princess handled things. She could’ve at least gone on her knees to apologize to Youji on behalf of her knights. Instead she chose to hold her head high and send her main knight, that blonde one whose name I can’t remember right now, to sexually pleasure Youji in order to make up for that unfortunate incident. They even gave him several servants to cater to his ever desire. It would’ve been perfect if his men didn’t arrive just as he was about to have his one-in-a-lifetime-harem. Poor guy, he just can’t catch a break.
This is where it gets interesting though. The princess as well as that small group of refugees are all going to Japan in order to satisfy the public and other nations. This should prove to be quite interesting. The princess will see how advanced they are and think twice before she considers attacking them. Rory on the other hand is a wild card. There’s no telling what she might do.
It goes without saying that Rory is my favourite. She’s funny, looks amazing and she’s strong. She’s basically the whole package. The fact that she’s so unpredictable makes it even better. For all we know she could’ve played nice all this time in order to infiltrate their world and plunge it in to chaos. I wouldn’t put it past her. I can’t wait to see what happens.Read More
I had to redo part of my schedule since Gangsta got rescheduled to air on Sunday and that messed things up a bit. What’s worse; I had to wait an extra week for both Gangsta and Himouto! Umaru-chan. At least I get to schedule Gate a day earlier.
I particularly likes this episode. We got to see a clear battle between modern day warfare and medieval warfare. Those from the Middle Ages may have shielded their bodies with (impurely forged) metal, but they are no match for attack choppers and assault rifles. They died within minutes, all of them. The machine guns and rockets made sure that their enemy died a quick and painless death. In a way it’s far more merciful than being stabbed by a sword or pierced by an arrow so you can slowly bleed to death. Very merciful indeed.
Also, I think it’s quite bold how that princess had the nerve to name terms after what she witnessed. She knows that she and her so-called knights are powerless against Japan’s modern technology. I wonder how she will react if she finds out that her knights captured one of the captain’s that laid waste to an enemy that they couldn’t defeat.
I’ll just say one more thing; I hope they won’t negotiate. Japan has no reason to negotiate as they have the power to bring their solder back by force if they need to. A smart princess would release him immediately after what she witnessed. I just cannot help but wonder how this will turn out, you know? I’m kind of thinking about how the princess might deliver him to her father.Read More
I have a great shortage of time and my whole schedule if messed up now that both Gangta and Himouto! Umaru-chan have been delayed till Sunday (one of which, Gangsta, permanently). It’s a pain in the ass sometimes.
So the recon unit decided to go to the nearest city to trade some dragon scales. I guess those wizards need money too. The problem lies with the recon unit itself; they will insist on interfering with other people’s affairs. They do this with the intention to help others and spread peace, but they’re really only making enemies this way.
Nevertheless, the captain decided to help that princess, the same princess whose task it is to dig up as much information about the captain and their stronghold as she can, in order to prevent villagers from getting slaughtered unnecessarily. The princess made the wrong choice in using them as bait. We’ll just have to see and wait what the captain will do now that the city has been breached.Read More
