Hajime no Ippo: Rising episode 17

Okay, I’m short on time and I really don’t have much to say about this episode. I kind of saw it coming and knew that it would only end up giving me stomach pains. The comedy in Hajime no Ippo is really powerful, my god.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 17 [720p].mkv_snapshot_15.35_[2014.02.02_23.25.03]The first match was bearable. Tatsuya had a decent match against a decent opponent. You could easily tell that it wasn’t all that serious. His hair was pretty much all he could think about. The next match was simply brutal. It’s bad enough that Masaru likes to mess about in the ring, but now another one jumps in and they’re actually fighting each other using the same ridiculous style. It was truly brutal. Watching that Papaya’s face was more than my poor stomach could handle. I laughed so much that I actually had to skip a minute to spare me any more stomach pains. I really hope that the next few episodes will be a bit more serious.

Hajime no Ippo: Rising episode 16

Jesus… Not this again. Enough with the fishing! It ends here! I love the comedy in Hajime no Ippo more than I do regular comedy anime, but it gets rather annoying after four weeks. It’s time to return to their world of action.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 16 [720p].mkv_snapshot_07.41_[2014.01.26_23.00.16]

Yes… This must’ve been the last episode where the comedy kills your stomach. I can’t take it anymore. That scene where they showed Tatsuya and Masaru’s opponents was a sure-kill scene. I laughed so hard that my sides started hurting. I had to pause the episode because I was missing too much.

I’m just glad that both Tatsuya and Masaru as still hanging in there. They are both senior boxers and both of them have an average boxing career. I don’t think either one of them has ever won a title of any kind. Of course, title isn’t everything, but I sure think it would be nice if they, too, would win something for once.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 16 [720p].mkv_snapshot_19.39_[2014.01.26_23.01.08]Quick question: would you consider me to be a bad person if I told you that I’m actually hoping that they will lose? I think it would be nice if they won a title for once, but to see those two with strange haircuts would be absolutely hilarious. I wouldn’t mind sacrificing another action-filled episode to see something like that.

Still, my mind is completely focussed on Mamoru’s match. He will be fighting a very strong champion soon. It seems that he is Brian Hawk’s friend and is coming to fight Mamoru to find out first-hand how strong Mamoru really is. Just think about it; another title match with Mamoru in it… Things are about to get very epic!

Hajime no Ippo: Rising episode 15

… I am speechless. I am absolutely speechless. They leave me no other option… I will have to cut this post short because I truly am speechless. The only way I can truly start this post is by asking myself what the hell kind of episode I saw this week.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 15 [720p].mkv_snapshot_05.44_[2014.01.19_22.44.09]I knew that things would get a strange turn after seeing last week’s episode. These episodes usual go in pairs. In fact, do not be surprised when next week’s episode turns out to be even worse. But come on, fishing? Really? I must admit that it was hilarious to see everyone fish like that, but come on… I try to make my posts serious here…

I can’t wait for the match between Ippo and his archenemy, Ichirou. Ichirou’s main focus are his counter punches. He does his best to hone them in order to dominate in the ring. Will it be enough to stop Ippo? Will it be enough to put down a man whose fists feel like they are made out of steel? That’s what I want to know!

Hajime no Ippo: Rising episode 14

To think that I would end up writing a short post about Hajime no Ippo… This episode was really uninteresting. It’s not the type of episode I would expect to see after one of Ippo’s nerve wrecking matches.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 14 [720p].mkv_snapshot_14.49_[2014.01.12_22.26.11]I’m ignoring the fact that we heard the same thing again about Ippo’s overstressed muscles. I just want to b*tch about the fact that Ippo got the play mangaka this week. What the hell is up with that? I understand that his friend is helping out with his family business, thereby allowing him to continue boxing, but to see Ippo drawing is really strange.

I also can’t appreciate the bad comedy at the end. I certainly can’t appreciate all the recaps. This episode was one big waste of time if you ask me. I dare say that it was nothing more than a filler, which is explainable since we just had two episodes in one week. I really hope that this was a onetime thing.

Hajime no Ippo: Rising episodes 12 & 13

I’m really glad that they released two episodes at once. Not because I wanted to catch up the episodes I missed, but because I didn’t want to have to wait yet another week just to look at that annoying monster’s face. I’m glad it’s over now.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 12 [720p].mkv_snapshot_07.05_[2014.01.05_22.47.26]So Ippo’s Dempsey Roll was stopped yet again. Yet another blow that Ippo did not need. Still, he made up for it in the end. I’m just pissed off at the fact that his opponent still resorted to unfair tricks, like hitting Ippo’s back with his elbow or using the referee as a human shield against Ippo’s destructive blows. I was pissed off that the referee didn’t just disqualify him for grabbing him like he did. I know that’s what I would’ve done if someone put my wellbeing on the line like that. Ippo’s blows are no joke, a normal person won’t be walking away normally after being hit by one of those.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 13 [720p].mkv_snapshot_13.53_[2014.01.05_22.48.20]Anyway, Ippo has been training his body in order to stop the Dempsey Roll mid-motion. This puts a tremendous amount of pressure on his muscles and it could very well lead to the end of his career as a professional boxer. It’s amazing enough that his legs didn’t snap like little twigs after having used that move more than once.

Yes, Ippo won again in the end, and his condition? Muscle damage and quite a few nasty bruises. His opponent? Three broken ribs, four front teeth knocked out and a fractured skill that lead to an immediate operation to save one of his eyes. Am I happy with this result? You bet I am! He should count his blessings that he might still be able to box after all of this. Can’t wait to see whom Ippo destroys next.

Hajime no Ippo: Rising episode 11

Hajime no Ippo: Rising returns! It been quite a few weeks since I last saw Ippo’s roughed up face in the ring. I just hope that the next episode will meet my expectations because this one kind of didn’t, which is kind of difficult take after having to wait for it for so long…

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 11 [720p].mkv_snapshot_05.12_[2013.12.29_15.57.04]So Ippo is fighting against a guy that likes to play very dirty. He will do anything he can to stall and catch his breath. It’s very difficult to tell if he’s just stupid, a dirty fighter or actually pretty talented. He packs quite a punch and those lefts of his are no joke. Even Ippo has a hard time getting close to him and gets punched away when he does. It’s a mystery, people… Why would someone with an arsenal like that resort to such petty tactics? He seems to be capable on his own without having to punch someone’s loved ones or nearly break the rules to win.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 11 [720p].mkv_snapshot_20.38_[2013.12.29_15.57.48]Anyway, Ippo is in a tough spot. He hardly get close due to his opponent’s sharp and heavy blows. When he does get close enough to punch, which seems like quite the accomplishment on its own, he gets blown away again. It’s what makes this whole match so strange… That guy doesn’t need to use dirty tactics in this match when he has a combination that effective.

Do not forget that Ippo is a close-range fighter. He has a few nifty weapons of his own, some of which are most effective when executed mid-range, but long-range? No. Ippo needs to find a way to close in before one of those rights takes away his champion belt. I’m pretty sure that this is where he starts to use his improving Dempsey Roll. I don’t see how else he can win right now.

Hajime no Ippo: Rising episode 10

I’m guessing that Mamoru’s conquest to role yet another weight class has been put on ice until Ippo’s match is over and done with. Too bad, I was actually looking forward to witness yet another one of his dominating rampages in the ring.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 10 [720p].mkv_snapshot_01.02_[2013.12.08_23.43.34]So Ippo realized one of his fatal weaknesses and decided to fix it, huh? Well done, shorty. He decided that he would still use the Dempsey Roll’s initial pattern, which would be a figure eight movement and blows from blind angles. He thinks that the problem doesn’t necessarily lie with the Dempsey Roll in general. He intends to train his muscles so that he can stop the Dempsey Roll’s attack pattern when he’s already in motion and change direction, allowing him to disrupt the Dempsey Roll’s usual movement and land lots of punches that his opponent wouldn’t expect at the time. This, from what I could tell, puts a lot of strain on person’s muscles.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 10 [720p].mkv_snapshot_11.44_[2013.12.08_23.43.58]There’s one thing that I just can’t figure out. The pace was pretty darn high when the season first started, and I liked that a lot, but the pace has dropped and we’re still wasting time on that dreadful character and his big, Kanye West-like ego. Is there seriously anyone out there that gives a damn about this character?

Mind you, I got pretty excited when he almost hit Kumi-chan in the face. It would’ve done a lot more damage if Ippo didn’t step in when he did, but that’s not the point here. The point is that he harmed Ippo’s girl, making me hope that he’s going to be mad as hell during his next match. I think it’s awesome to see that guy fight when he’s angry as hell.

Hajime no Ippo: Rising episode 09

I fail to understand this episode. Honestly… What was the point? I don’t think it showed anything of importance that we didn’t already know. Last week’s episode pretty much ended where I stopped reading the manga, because I knew back then that a third season was only a matter of time.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 09 [720p].mkv_snapshot_02.19_[2013.12.01_22.42.34]I’m happy that we got to see Alexander again. He was a very tough opponent for Ippo to beat and he can teach Ippo a lot of new thing about himself in order to prepare him for his next match. Alexander, after being taken care of by the Makunouchi family, would probably be more than happy to do as much as he possibly can to help him. That being said, why did they cover the one thing that Ippo already knew about himself? I fail to see why they would take things to such extreme levels when Ippo already realized that his Dempsey Roll needs improving.

[HorribleSubs] Hajime no Ippo - Rising - 09 [720p].mkv_snapshot_12.15_[2013.12.01_22.42.58]The sight of Ippo being knocked out by Alexander’s Dempsey Roll counter was pretty devastating. Yes, it gave Ippo what he needed to realize the Dempsey Roll’s flaw, the fact that its movement is easy to predict and counter, but that was something we all already knew, just like the fact that those punches come from blind spots.

It was a very strange episode. I can only hope that the next one will be better, especially since they are really building up to a perfected Dempsey Roll. Ippo realized what was wrong and is not going to work on improving it. I would be lying if I said that I’m not interested in what he comes up with. I definitely want to know.
