And yet another show ends. Time really goes by fast. The summer here is as good as over since it’s already getting cold. What a lousy summer this turned out to be. At least I had some really good shows to keep me occupied.
I’ll just come out and say it; I’m a little disappointed in Himouto! Umaru. I expected so much more from this show. It was fun to watch and all, but I really lost my motivation to keep writing and I am certain that it showed. There just wasn’t a good enough story. It was a bit of a mess and it lacked in content. I just watched the final episode and I asked myself only one question; what the hell was the point?
Three months of this and we’re pretty much where we started. There were no major events, we still don’t know anything about their situation or their background and I don’t even know what the point of it all was. It looked like one random slice of life episode after the other. You could watch the episodes in any order and you’d be none the wiser. That’s a little disappointing…Read More
Well, I think I can say that this week’s episode was a little better since they didn’t give that blue-haired girl a decent chance to annoy me this time. But still, I think the show has declined a little. It, for me at least, lost that spark that made me want to watch it ASAP.
I still like that cute girl and her interesting dialect. I wish she would talk like that all the time instead of just a word here and there. I said it before; I don’t mind watching episodes with her in it. She’s actually a delight and I think that Umaru could do some funny stuff with her around. And I’m also pretty sure that she would accept Umaru’s true nature.
The question most fans are asking themselves right now probably involves Umaru in a bathing suit. I’ve seen a few disturbing comments from users with bizarre desires when it comes to fan service episodes. My god, would that really turn anyone on? I honestly can’t see myself fapping over a bunch of anime characters in bathing suits, but maybe that’s just me. Just keep it to yourselves, folks.Read More
Well, this episode was a lot better than the last two, that’s for sure. It’s a shame that I’m running short on time again since I wouldn’t have minded to write a decent post for this week’s episode, but oh well… This’ll have to do.
This episode didn’t look like it was pasted together with a bunch of random scenes. It was actually quite nice. Umaru-chan broke her modem and had to go to a manga café, which is something that I just don’t have here. In fact, manga in general simply isn’t popular here. Just general western cartoon magazines with annoying nonsense.
What I loved most about this episode is that I got a good look at a younger version of Umaru. She was cute back then too. She looked absolutely adorable. I mean, that one scene made this episode worth watching even if the rest of it was horrible. I wouldn’t mind to see a bit more of little Umaru during next week’s episode.Read More
Fine, I’ll admit that I regret writing about this show. It’s fun to watch, sure, but it’s really not at all fun to write about. It’s always the same thing and nothing ever really happens. We are just going in circles. It’s just a little disappointing.
I just don’t know what to say anymore. We are just going all the basic things like with other clichéd shows; Christmas, Valentine’s Day and various other Japanese holidays or customs. There’s always that obvious pattern in a lot of shows. I thought that this one wasn’t like that at all. I guess I was wrong by the looks of it…
I’ll do my best to see it through to the end. I hate to pick up a show and not see it through to the end. I only do that rarely with long running shows like Naruto Shippuuden. I can only hope that they stop with these weird episodes where it looks like they just pasted all kinds of different scenes after the other. It’s like an animated picture book. I would like to see some progress.Read More
I am running out of time but I still want to schedule this post for tomorrow. I hate days where I don’t even have time to watch all the episodes that come out. Someone screws up at work and I, the usual hero, have to fix it all.
I do have to admit that I liked this episode. I saw a chance for Umaru’s brother to have a girlfriend of his own. His childhood friend obviously has a thing for him and she has no trouble showing it. Why not just give her a chance? It would be way better to be a two income family when you have to take care of an otaku sister.
The rest wasn’t all that special. It turned out to be a Christmas episode where they were all enjoying the holidays. I have no problems watching characters enjoy traditional Japanese culture. There are times where I actually learn a thing or two. I wouldn’t mind seeing another one of these episodes next week, provided that blue-haired girl gets as much air-time as this week (or not at all).Read More
Was Himouto! Umaru-chan always like this? I honestly did not notice that. It’s like a bunch of little stories that they just looped together. Mind you, this episode was significant better than the last one if you ask me.
I have come to accept it. I simply do not like that blue-haired girl. She’s annoying. But I do like Nana-chan. She’s cute, kind and shy. Besides, she has a crush on Taihei and I would grant that guy all the happiness in the world for having to put up with his hellish younger sister. During some scenes he doesn’t look as much as a brother as the does a slave. It’s insane. The poor guy is being drained physically, mentally and financially, which makes me curious about the rest of their family and if they help out or not.
I got to see their mother briefly. She looked like a slightly older version of Umaru. Is she still alive? Do they have a father? Is Taihei really supporting both of them all on his own or is he getting financial aid from (one of) their parents or other relative(s)? I have so many questions and only a couple of them have been answered so far.
But yeah, they can stop with that blue-haired girl now. I don’t care for her. Replace her with Nana-chan or Kirie if you must. I prefer Nana-chan personally. Scenes with new characters like Taihei’s colleague, Kirie’s older brother, coming over to look at Umaru was pretty funny as well. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of that.Read More
I don’t know what is going on with this show. It’s like they’re stuck in a rut or something. It’s like the author had all these little side stories and merged them altogether to make one strange story. I think we are going off track here.
I mean, the start was just funny. Umaru went out late at night without her brother knowing and that ended up being quite the interesting scene. Then they decide to put a curtain in the room to make a place for both of them, so that both of them can have a little bit of privacy. You’d think that something like that would lead to an interesting event, but no….
Then we suddenly dove right into another one of Umaru’s games followed up by yet another little story about her birthday. Each episode is roughly twenty minutes. Are they going to make four stories that last five minutes each or is the main story going to continue? Is Umaru’s secret going to leak out? Will she graduate? I am really starting to wonder what I should expect from this…Read More
I knew it. I just knew this would happen. They focussed more on that girl whose name I just can’t seem to remember and I am honestly quite done with her. It is for that reason why I’ve decided to keep this post short.
That blue-haired monstrosity returned to that game centre in order to have a few more battles against an undercover Umaru. This is fine and all, but the problem is that I just can’t seem to like that character. I don’t like her. The only thing I like about that character is her voice, kudos to the voice actress, but her personality is just annoying.
The only thing that made this episode worth watching was Umaru. I can’t seem to get enough of her. I want to see more of her lazing around, annoying her brother, whom, I if I might add, truly has a heart of pure gold, and god only knows what else. Basically; Umaru makes things fun and interesting. She’s a rare occurrence that made watch and write about anime with chibi’s in it.Read More
