Karneval episode 05

I know I won’t make any friends by saying this, but I’m really starting to lose interest in Karneval. It’s slowly getting to the point where I would call this show overrated. I was fun and interesting at first, but it has become rather predictable and dull, even when there’s a lot of action going on.

[Anime-Koi] Karneval - 05 [h264-720p][2C4D5F3B].mkv_snapshot_05.48_[2013.05.03_23.11.45]Remember those twins from Gareki’s past? Everyone knew that they were caught up in this mess as soon as we learned that they were test subjects. Some doctor had been giving them food with experimental drugs in it. Nothing is for free, people. There’s always a price attached when you look at the big picture.

Anyway, that male twin had been consuming those drugs for years, including his sister’s portions. It made him a monster, a monster without self-control that would only listen to his master (that doctor) commands. It’s quite cheap when you think about it; feed a few straights for a couple of years and earn yourself an obedient slave for as long as he or she lives.

[Anime-Koi] Karneval - 05 [h264-720p][2C4D5F3B].mkv_snapshot_16.46_[2013.05.03_23.12.32]Anyone could’ve seen this coming. I knew it was coming, but I had thought that they would drag it out for another episode, so that they could deal with him during episode six. Things took a slightly different turn but it’s not over yet. There are many more of those monsters out there and they need to be killed, so it’s only to be expected that that’s what we’re going to be seeing in the near future. Oh, and the funny thing about this all is that there’s usually an organisation behind this sort of thing. That’s (sadly) how it usually goes I’m afraid.

Karneval episode 04

I knew this would happen, I just knew it. Watching Karneval has taken a weird turn now that I keep thinking of a white, hairy, gay-looking rat with red eyes every time I see Nai. I can only hope that this is a temporary thing.

[Anime-Koi] Karneval - 04 [h264-720p][FC7501E6].mkv_snapshot_05.16_[2013.04.26_23.30.12]I thought that they would use this episode to focus a bit more in that island and everything it contained. That doctor was fascinated by Nai’s old house, the animals and the creatures that attacked them, so I thought for sure that we’d have to watch twenty minutes of him going snooping around the place.

They wouldn’t even have survived if it wasn’t for Iva, one of Circus’ members. She showed up at the last minute to prevent Gareki from getting killed by those things. I’m not a big fan of her abilities though. I suppose the author tried to create something that appealed to both sexes (he succeeded if I may say so).

[Anime-Koi] Karneval - 04 [h264-720p][FC7501E6].mkv_snapshot_15.02_[2013.04.26_23.30.40]The episode was mostly about Gareki and his past. He decided to go back to the village where he was once saved by a kind woman, only to find out that things had changed a bit. He even encountered a few familiar faces during his time there.

I know this sounds strange, but I’m not that interesting in Gareki. I’m not a big fan of arrogant little pricks that aren’t even half as strong as they make themselves out to be. He has a big mouth, a little brain, and very little to no strength. He’s fine if he has a gun, but it ends there.

Karneval episode 03

Huh…? Wait, what in god’s name did I just watch? Was this really Karneval? I must say that I’m getting really nervous now that I’ve seen something I don’t like. It’s almost a given that, if I’m right, the ratings will drop like a huge rock would sink to the bottom of the ocean.

[Anime-Koi] Karneval - 03 [h264-720p][DE3A3CAA].mkv_snapshot_06.20_[2013.04.19_23.50.42]The episode started out normally (or as normal as it’s ever going to get). We got to know this very old doctor, a character that somehow reminded me of Dumbledore from Harry Potter (I know it’s sad). This doctor did all sorts of tests on both Nai and Gareki, and came to the conclusion that there’s more than meets the eye with Nai. That doctor is under the impression that Nai isn’t human at all, but some strange-looking creature with a lot of fur and big red eyes. This creature is somewhat rare and has the ability to transform, obviously. That’s when they got interested in Nai, because they know nothing of him and his abilities.

[Anime-Koi] Karneval - 03 [h264-720p][DE3A3CAA].mkv_snapshot_12.43_[2013.04.19_23.51.33]Really? Nai is supposedly a creature that goes by the name of Niji? My god… Was it really that difficult to come up with something better? It’s bad enough that Nai booth looks and sounds gay, but now it seems that he’s actually a gay-looking fur ball with big red eyes? Couldn’t they have made him a demon or an angel instead?

I’m not so sure what to think about Karneval’s future after this episode. Every time I see Nai I’m going to think of him as that gay-looking rat. The fact that they’re spending so much time on him right now doesn’t really help much either. I can only hope that things will pick up soon, and that this Karoku character joins the big picture soon.

Karneval episode 02

I cannot believe I’m actually writing about this. I’m hooked, dammit. I still dislike Nai’s absurd hairstyle, but I’ve learned to look passed that. Right now I’m more interesting in the organisation that calls itself “Circus” and the people that work for it.

[Anime-Koi] Karneval - 02 [h264-720p][FA8C2E20].mkv_snapshot_11.23_[2013.04.13_00.02.28]I’m pretty sure that we’ve all realised that Nai isn’t an ordinary guy. I’m sure that we’re all aware of his ability to hear certain things that others just can’t. Those abilities may look amazing to some, but I doubt it has much impact for those Circus guys. I’m pretty sure that those guys are ‘special’ in their own ways, and that Nai’s ability pales in comparison.

Maybe I’m wrong though. Maybe Nai’s ability is pretty special after all. It would explain why he’s so sought after. People tried to capture him throughout the episode, which is something they wouldn’t do if he didn’t have something they want. It depends on what he can hear though. Can he only hear dangerous things like bombs? Can he hear whatever he wants if he trains it? I don’t know. That’s what makes it so interesting!

[Anime-Koi] Karneval - 02 [h264-720p][FA8C2E20].mkv_snapshot_18.47_[2013.04.13_00.04.31]I must say that I’m looking forward to the rest. Nai’s become a very big target now and his friend, Gareki, is caught up in the middle of it because he doesn’t seem to want to leave his friend’s side. Maybe I’m looking into it too much. Maybe Gareki is sticking with him because he still wants that bracelet. I won’t speculate too much right now. I just want to know more about Circus and the people that work there. It seems so interesting, because they actually pretend to be a circus, even though most people probably know they’re more than that.

Is this clandestine advertising I sense? I actually got in the mood to go to a circus or something. How sad… To think that a show, which turned out to be quite amusing, would make me want to waste money to see a bunch of weird stunts.

KarnevalThe one thing that I would’ve changed right away would be Nai’s hair. I don’t like those purple-highlighted hair-horns sticking out at the lower part of his head. The rest looked pretty good, especially the backgrounds. I was really enjoying that train scene.

I’m liking the story so far. It’s a nice change of pace. No sci-fi death lasers, giant fighting mechs or demons popping up all over the place. It’s a nice, classic scenery with a lot of unique and gifted characters. That’s definitely a nice change of pace.

I recommend this for sure. It looks like it’ll get a lot better, plus it’s a type of show that could run for quite a number of episodes. I’m kind of glad that I’m not that big a manga fan, because it would’ve killed if I had read this manga (with this being a mystery-genre anime and all).

Plot Summary: Nai searches for someone important to him, with only an abandoned bracelet as a clue. Gareki steals and pick-pockets to get by from day to day. The two meet in a strange mansion where they are set-up, and soon become wanted criminals by military security operatives. When Nai and Gareki find themselves desperate in a hopeless predicament, they encounter none other than the country’s most powerful defense organization—”Circus”!!
