I don’t get the Japanese, I just don’t. They start off great sometimes, but why is it these things end so poorly? I never really understood that. I’m not saying that’s always the case. I’m just saying that it happens a lot, about seven to eight out of ten times.
This is the final episode, we all know that, yet nothing gets resolved. Mori is still alone, just as usual, Yuriko and goggles Daichi won’t be getting together any time soon, and Haruka and Yoshihisa aren’t doing that much better either. What is with this ending? It started out perfectly; lots of drama, romance and new-found friendship, but it ended very abruptly. I’m very disappointed.
I must say that I always knew Mori would kind of be a loose end when it came down to the romance department. You can’t have five characters when it comes to a romantic comedy where all the characters have somebody. At least one of those characters will be left out of the loop and end up alone. That’s just how it goes, unless there’s some twisted story where the protagonist ends up with two girlfriend (that know about each other). I would definitely watch that.
Anyway, I was also disappointed when Haruka’s mother, Kumiko, tried to get into contact with her again by paying her a surprise visit. Man, that woman is so annoyingly weak. She clearly wants to be with her daughter, yet she chooses to be aggressive and rude, just to keep Haruka at bay. That’s just sad; to be afraid of your own daughter.
So yeah, the ending was rather disappointing. I had hoped to see at least one good kiss, just one, but no… Not even that much happened. It is really sad how Kotoura-san dropped in ratings during these past few weeks. I guess people are quite disappointed in this show as well, and who can blame them?Read More
Kotoura-san, not unlike a heavy rock, is sinking at an extraordinary speed. It’s rapidly becoming boring, predictable and uninteresting. It’s safe to say that the first episode was by far the best. The rest were just disappointing.
So yeah, Yuriko was being assaulted by that, ahem, ‘mysterious’ criminal, when suddenly her friends, whom were all miles away at first, come to her rescue. Is there no bound to the laziness in this story? What happened to all the excitement? This show is like a slide; you start up high and you end up all the way down. Such a shame…
Things got even worse when they messed up that panty shot. This show really needed an innocent panty shot. Why is it that Hiyori covered it up and made a cute “hyaa” sound in the middle of an attack? You just don’t do that when a crazy criminal tries to beat you and your friends up with a weapon.
It got even worse when Kotoura actually went with Aki, the female police officer, to her home. It doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to figure out that Aki was actually the criminal. They have the same hair, the same height and the lower part of the face was in both cases the same. They definitely didn’t put too much effort in covering that up.
It probably won’t get much better, but I’m hoping for a little bit of romance next week. Kotoura-san is ending and I would like to have seen one romantic episode, at least. Is that really too much to ask? Or will I have to be satisfied with comedy alone, even though the drama and romance played a great role during the first episode? Either way; I’m disappointed.Read More
Have they given up? Have they seriously given up on the romance? They used to try with a few awkward scenes, but now it just seems like they’ve just stopped trying. It’s all comedy and disappointing drama nowadays.
How can there be romance when they’re still focussing on recent events involving that criminal. That’s just stupid, trying to get an incredibly shy and fragile girl to track down a criminal that specializes in hurting high school girls. What fuels this madness? The need to help her future boyfriend and a forceful tomboy that only recently became her friend. Need I say more? Need I say that Kotoura suddenly needs to focus in order to read people’s minds? That’s right, I noticed. It used to come naturally to her, even if she didn’t want it, but now she has to close her eyes and focus in order to read a specific person’s mind.
I also noticed that that female police office is rather forceful. She appears to be an airhead, but is she really? It’s usually these types of characters that have a hidden agenda. I would not be surprise if she’s actually really smart and in control of the entire operation, despite her grumpy boss. In fact, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she herself was actually the criminal.
I did like the fact that Yuriko’s the target though. I’ve never liked that character’s personality. I like her looks though, seeing as she’s the one with the big breasts (love me or hate me for it, ladies). She won’t die though, we can scratch that out. She hasn’t abused Kotoura’s abilities for her own personal gain yet, so the story isn’t over. I’m guessing she’ll be in the hospital for a few days, at beast. We’ll see…Read More
Kotoura-san dropped in ratings, what a shock. It started out great, but it’s becoming more and more of a burden to watch. There’s never really anything romantic. It’s only funny at times, that’s it. The rest is declining very fast.
The episode looked pretty good at first. They were having a discussion about a murderer that’s been going around the neighbourhood, looking for high school girls and whatnot. It seems that Kotoura may have met him briefly. She is convinced that she heard his thoughts at one point, but she just cannot remember whom it was.
This was a great lead-in for Yoshihisa to spend the night with a very scared Kotoura-chan. Did anything happen? No. Hiyori continues to interfere with them. I sincerely hate that character. She hasn’t contributed anything. She’s not even funny. That thing with her family name and that picture was briefly funny, but that’s it.
However, things soon got even worse when the only thing that made this show great seemed to fade bit by bit. The drama between Kotoura and her mother was what gave us, the viewers, such an amazing impression of that show. It left quite the impression on me, too. But now that’s about to end, it seems. The drama is rapidly decreasing and the tension between Kotoura and her mother is slowly fading. It won’t be long before they make up, thereby ending any and all drama in this show. Watch; the ratings will continue to drop for as long as things don’t change soon. We need more romance, that’s for sure.Read More
Okay, this episode pretty much confirmed my previous statements about the show. You should watch Kotoura-san if you are satisfied with the comedy alone, because it’s quite rare to see drama and romance. They kind of used it all up during episode one, it seems.
I knew Yoshihisa didn’t have it in him to be aggressive, which is incredibly disappointing, because you need to be a little bit more aggressive when you’re trying to establish a relationship with a girl like Kotoura. She’s shy, scares easily and gets easily embarrassed. Oh, did I also mention that she can read your freakin’ mind? Yeah… Funny stuff. Good luck being spontaneous when dating a girl like that.
I still can’t believe it. Kotoura was sick in bed with a nasty case of the flu. Her psychic abilities were rendered useless and she was in no condition to think rationally. He could’ve just kissed her, hugged her or at least tell her how he feels about her. What did he do? Nothing. He ran outside like a little child when he realized that a golden opportunities had presented itself.
It’s quite sad, but the club president really does want to be friends with Kotoura because of her abilities. She was getting nervous and distant when she realized that Kotoura had (temporarily) lost her psychic abilities. That’s just sad. Nobody needs people like that as a friend. Those people are users, nothing more.
I can only hope that pace picks up soon. Progress is being made, sure, but in mouse steps. It’s ridiculous. I cannot believe how slow the pace is here. I think I could get myself a genuine harem before Yoshihisa and Kotoura become an actual couple. I’d need what, like six women? No problem. That, at least, seems doable.Read More
And so the stale romance continues… Why? I cannot believe how many opportunities there are during each and every episode. It’s pretty much a comedy now. The romance is declining very fast, and that’s actually the biggest reason as to why I started watching this in the first place.
The beginning was absolutely perfect; everyone was enjoying their vacation at another one of the Kotoura family’s spots, so I thought “this is it!” But no, it was one long train of never-ending comedy. I don’t get how that’s even possible. Yoshihisa was practically naked and Hiyori wasn’t far behind. How could nothing have happened after all that?
I thought I saw some promising scenes after Haruka’s mother showed up again. I thought that the comedy was going to be swept away by a flood wave of drama. What happened instead? She made a rotten remark about how those two make each other unhappy and left. I was truly disappointed when that happened.
Still, I had faith in the show. It was summer vacation, so all of the characters would get lots of opportunities to hook up. Haruka and Hiyori would both get shots at Yoshihisa and Yuriko would probably continue to find a way to get Daichi’s attention. It just seems like nobody’s relationship is working out in Kotoura-san.
I suppose you could say that they saved the best for last. It was Haruka’s birthday and Yoshihisa came prepared. I thought for sure that something would happen, but no, everyone entered and left that room as friends. I could definitely see some progress between Haruka and Yoshihisa, but even that was minimal. This show really needs to pick up the pace in order to keep things interesting, because comedy alone isn’t what made this show great in the first place.Read More
I don’t know what to think anymore. I had high hopes for Kotoura-san, but it just isn’t going anywhere. Am I merely supposed to laugh during funny scenes? Am I supposed to enjoy the plain romance, of which there is little, without wondering when things are going to get better? I don’t know anymore…
Why aren’t things progressing anymore? All the characters had golden opportunities during this episode. A nice private resort, private theme park and a private beach. What more could you possibly want? A giant mansion to sleep in, a private theme park to enjoy yourself and get comfortable and a private beach to execute whatever (perverted/romantic) plan you might have.
Needless to say that I’m very disappointed in Yoshihisa. There was one moment where he could’ve made a move to finally make Kotoura his girlfriend. A nice quiet place with a scared Kotoura-chan… What more could he want? He was on a damn boat with no one around him to disturb him. Hell, she was freakin’ hugging him. What did he do though? Nothing.
It’s a given that I’m going to receive an e-mail from someone that read this post and disagreed with it. I get those a lot. In fact, those e-mails are one of the primary reasons why I continue writing these posts. I like it when people disagree with me. It gives me an opportunity to listen to someone else’s opinion. However, if you find fault with my opinion about Yoshihisa not making good use of that golden opportunity in that boat? Don’t bother. Yoshihisa is a first class pervert, quite possibly the only reason why people like that character so much, so I don’t think he had any problems with landing a kiss during that time. He just chickened out. It has nothing to do with being a gentlemen. Sadly, I don’t think next week’s episode will be that much better.Read More
Oh no, the predictability level of Kotoura-san is rising. It’s not fun anymore when you can predict what’s going to happen in a romantic comedy that features a psychic girl. Please fix this! I need my weekly dose to be good!
I knew that Hiyori was going to be part of the gang. Not just because that character’s on pretty much every piece of Kotoura-san content, but also because they’ve focussed too much on that character. Shows don’t focus nearly that much on characters if they don’t plan on making them appear regularly. Let’s just say that I’m not a big Hiyori fan.
Who cares anymore? Haruka is back! Everyone’s favourite mind reader has once again returned to raise some hell. Yuriko, the one that plans to exploit Haruka’s abilities in order to clear her mother’s name, must be ecstatic. I bet she’s a lot happier than Yoshihisa, Haruka’s future boyfriend. And yes, they are going to be a couple. It is only logical.
There is only one character that keeps shoving question marks in my face. What is Daichi’s deal? Is he in love with Yuriko? Is he staying by her side because he feels obligated as her childhood friend? That guy is one big mystery. He even joined Yuriko and Yoshihisa on their quest to bring Haruka back, even though he has nothing to gain. I really want to know more about that guy.
Right now I’ll just focus on Haruka, my favourite character on this show, obviously. I want her to grow up a little. I want her to admit that she has feelings for Yoshihisa. Basically, I want her and Yoshihisa to be together. I just can’t get that dramatic beginning out of my head where Haruka ended up all alone without as much as a friend in her life. She deserves this!Read More
