Damn you, Kyoukai no Kanata! Where do these Japanese get the nerve to scare me twice with the same thing? It wasn’t funny the first time and it certainly wasn’t funny this time either. I must be really stupid to have fallen for it again.
So Akihito returned to Mirai-chan’s side after having absorbed part of Kyoukai no Kanata in his right arm. They both made it their mission to get to the Youmu’s core in order to try and stop it. I never thought that I would see Akihito fight. I never even thought that he could be as powerful as (or arguably even stronger than) Mirai-chan.
I have to give him my compliments for not giving into temptation. He had a cute girl right in front of him and her skirt was going up and down. Did he pick? Maybe, but he chose to ignore and focus on the matter at hand. I like that! No ecchi comedy during a very important action-filled scene. That is how it is done, people.
Now, they managed to make their way to the core, fight off thousands of Youmu and allow Akihito to reabsorb Kyoukai no Kanata into his body again. I guess this means that Akihito is back to being a wild card. But, and I really can’t appreciate this, they made it seem as though Mirai died. She disappeared after Akihito fused with Kyoukai no Kanata and they created a scene so dramatic that I actually believed that she had gone for good. That’s why I was pretty annoyed (and happy) when Mirai-chan reappeared during last 2 minutes. I should’ve known that these stories always have a happy ending. Still, I’m grateful for having seen such an amazing show. Thank you!Read More
Great, a slightly less confusing episode after last week’s utterly confusing episode! Oh well, at least a few good things happened during this episode. I was starting to think that I had lost my favourite character on the show.
I thought Mirai was dead. Akihito regained consciousness and everything in his life was a mess. His friends couldn’t really help him, everyone was acting strange and he kept hearing sounds that nobody else could. It even got to the point where his strange mother made her first live appearance instead of sending another one of those strange letters. The fact that she herself showed up to help her son in his time of need surely means that something’s about to go down. Why else would she, also a known warrior, show up right after Akihito lost his girl? She truly is an annoying mother.
I still refuse to believe that the Nase family doesn’t know anything. They are holding back information. Izumi is holding back information. She could’ve told everyone what Yayoi, Akihito’s mother, just told them a long time ago before any of this even started. She knew all along, yet she chose to keep her mouth shut.
Anyway, Mirai and Akihito have been reunited. That’s what’s important right now. I’m also kind of hoping that Akihito becomes capable of controlling his Youmu half. I saw a few interesting things when he rushed to save Mirai-chan, so I’m kind of hoping that my theories (I’m not going to post them to avoid spoiling the ending) are fairly accurate. I can’t wait to see what happens next!Read More
What in heaven’s name did I watch? Was this really a regular Kyoukai no Kanata episode? It was so unnecessarily confusing that I almost stopped watching. It’s strange to see this episode after we just finished watching two filler-like episodes that had no real impact on the story.
Some would probably describe this episode as an amazing and/or interesting twist. I don’t know about that. The start was confusing as hell and in my humble opinion they didn’t really explain it very well. There are still pieces of the puzzle that are missing and I can only hope that those are found during the next couple episodes, otherwise the story just doesn’t make sense anymore.
The start was completely off. I have been paying close attention to Mirai-chan, one of the cutest and more interesting characters on the show, so I immediately noticed her strange personality. She was so focussed on being with Akihito that she did things that she normally wouldn’t dare to do. Mirai has never been that aggressive.
It became even weirder after that when it became known that Mirai isn´t exactly ´there´ anymore. Akihito was dreaming all this time after Mirai extracted that youmu from his body. I´m not sure if that youmu escaped or simply used Mirai as a host for now, but things have gotten really weird and I´m not at all sure I like it.
I didn´t get the ending either. What was that supposed to tell me? I don’t get it at all. The only thing that’s going through my head right now is that Mirai-chan might be gone for good even though it was everyone’s plan to kill Akihito instead of her. I’m not sure if three episodes will be enough to answer all the questions that this episode caused. We’ll see…Read More
Kyoukai no Kanata Daisuki! This is yet another good example of how all anime should be. I have very little to no idea how this is going to turn out. I love it! I can only hope that this passes by fast this week so that I can watch the next episode.
Honestly, I have no idea what’s about to happen. I know that the four-eyed pervert, or Akihito as you may know him, will undoubtedly survive this thing. I have no idea how, but that’s the only thing that’s pretty obvious. The main character rarely ever dies in these types of stories. How will he survive? I don’t know. Will he remain half human and half Youmu or will they somehow remove that evil half of his? I don’t know. I have no idea how it’s going to happen or what is going to happen next. That’s how it should be; very difficult to predict.
Also, which characters are we supposed to like and which are we supposed to hate? Is there still a difference between friend and foe? I can’t tell anymore. I don’t know if Izumi is planning to use Akihito’s powers somehow or if she’s trying to stop Miroku and the organisation that’s backing him from doing so. Either way; she’s serious about wanting Akihito dead.
Like I said, Akihito won’t die. Mitsuki doesn’t want him to, Hiroomi is trying to protect him and Mirai, because she actually likes that pervert, will not kill him. I suppose that she’s going to do everything she can to get through to Akihito, hoping that he snaps out of it. Part of me wishes that Akihito goes completely berserk and destroys that entire organisation and everyone in it.Read More
My weekly dose of Kyoukai no Kanata left me satisfied once again. Every time I think something’s about to happen in a certain why, which is something I do every time, the story simply makes a sharp turn and goes in an entirely different direction.
I knew from the first few minutes that something was wrong. Akihito is a true pervert that things about nothing other than girls with glasses. It surprises me not that he thinks of them at night, too, but I refused to believe that he could not keep his eyes open during the day because he was being a little pervert at night. There had to be a lot more to it than that, especially since the last few episodes involved a lot of hard-core action, including an episode where he himself lost control to his youmu half. It’s safe to say that he, being half human and half youmu, stands in the centre of all of this. I’m pretty sure of that.
I may not be able to say this with utmost certainty, but I am pretty sure that Miroku is trying to gain power for either himself or his superiors by capturing youmu during their time of weakness. Maybe it’s to create a powerful weapon, maybe it’s to enslave youmu, but it’s almost certain that he and the organisation that he works for are up to no good.
Waiting for the next episode is going to be a royal pain in my near-perfect ass. I need to know what’s about to happen to Akihito. Is he going berserk again? Is he going to maintain control because his youma half isn’t strong enough right now? I need to know! I just hope that Ayaka survives. She is too awesome for me to describe with mere words.Read More
Last week’s comedy-inspired episode was great, but I really think that Kyoukai no Kanata thrives because of well-balanced episodes. There has to be action and well-timed comedy throughout the episode. I’m sure the story will take care of everything else.
I can still remember when Mirai-chan was too scared to look at Youmu for too long, let alone come close enough to kill one. Nowadays she rushes into bad, Youmu-filled situations without thinking it through. Her progress has been remarkable, although her cute attitude towards people still remains unchanged. It has to be, if her attitude or even her personality were to change even a little bit than the story might fall apart. Mirai really does stand in the middle of all of this, which makes her a very important and unreplaceable character. People always tend to favour the main characters because they get more air-time.
Anyway, I’m guessing that Sakura’s going to join the party soon. She met up with Akihito after he carried her to his room when she passed out. I’m pretty sure that she doesn’t see him as an enemy, even though she knows that he’s friends with Mirai. I can only guess that she’s going to join their little ‘club’ sooner or later, especially since she’s now attending the same school.
I want to end this post by sharing some of my thoughts on what may come soon. We learned that it was Miroku, the guy with glasses that entertained Izumi a few episodes ago, was the one that gave Sakura that mysterious weapon. I don’t know if he wants to hurt Mirai or just draw out her real powers, but it’s obvious that he’s planning something. The part that worries me most is the possibility that Izumi might be in on it, too. It’s getting really interesting!Read More
I somehow already expected that they would mix in an episode where no progress was made. This episode was just one big tribute to comedy. I don’t think a single minute passed when I didn’t have a smile on my face. Two thumbs up for this one!
The first thirty seconds or so were absolutely hilarious. You see a frustrated Mitsuki in the shower, hoping to get a squirt of shampoo from an empty bottle. Now, I have no idea why this happened, but her fat rat-like creature was dancing to the beat that Mitsuki was making. I watched that scene like five times and I cannot stop laughing at it.
So yeah, Mirai-chan got her license to kill back. She can official start hunting Youmu again. Keep in mind that Mirai is a strange girl that’s always in need of money in order to support herself. She has an apartment, she needs food, and, although I don’t know why, she wants to ensure that her Bonsai trees get the highest quality care.
Living costs money, we all know that. So Mirai asked for some help on locating a valuable Youmu, after which it turned out that a valuable Youmu was close by. We’re watching a funny episode, so you kind of already know that it wasn’t going to be a regular Youmu. No… It was some kind of one-eyed plant that has a thing for cute girls. A perverted Youmu was this week’s target.
All the ingredients for a hilarious episode are there. They decided to add yet another scoop by making the Youmu explode whenever it feels threatened, covering everything in some kind of smelly goo. To summarize this episode in one go; a lot of pointless action and shower scenes. That’s basically what it comes down to.Read More
Yet another good episode from yet another good anime. I seriously believe that many other shows could use this as an example when it comes to (secret) organisations. They don’t scheme out in the open. Everything is still as mysterious as ever. That’s how it’s done!
I just got over last week’s episode and my Goosebumps were almost gone. I think it’s safe to say that watching this episode didn’t help much. I’ve got Goosebumps all over again. We all knew that Mirai-chan would join their strange club eventually, even before she saw Akihito lose control. It was one of those things that everyone could see coming.
However, I think the Nase siblings, Mitsuki and Hiroomi, are actually quite glad that she did. Now they can both keep an eye on Mirai and Akihito without too much of an effort. We already knew that those two were being monitored “for the greater good”, but it has to be a lot easier now that they’re all together in the same club.
I also found the idea of Mirai losing her license to ‘hunt’ quite troubling. How exactly does a person decide? Where does Izumi, the eldest of the Nase family, get the idea that she can just forbid someone from hunting Youmu? I am fully aware that there’s an organisation that pretty much backs them, but it’s still quite odd that she has the ability to do that.
Now, I’ve decided to skip that part about Mirai’s photo-shoot and the fact that Ai-chan has posed naked in front of a camera several times. I just want to go straight to the point where everything is pretty much hanging by a thread. Mirai needs her income, Akihito needs his space now that he’s lost control again and figuring out the Nase family’s operations is too hard for me to even try right now.Read More
