Nice ending for a second season! Not so much for a whole series. I am definitely expecting to see a third season. Magi is very popular, the manga is very far ahead and I’m pretty sure the DVD boxes and Blu-Ray sets will sell quite well. A third season is almost guaranteed.
You could already tell that things weren’t going well. Think about it, it took seventy-two Djinns to take down that evil in the past, but not there were about a dozen of them present. That’s not even a quarter of all the Djinns. I knew that it wasn’t going to be Kouen, Sinbad, Alibaba or any of the other fighters that would take that thing down.
Aladdin, the one Magi that possess Solomon’s wisdom, managed to use his unique ability to approach old man Matal inside that evil Djinn. It was somewhat expected that Matal regretted his actions. He has been feeling sorry for himself for a long time, but I don’t care… He’s still the one that unleashed that evil upon the world. He should pay for it (and he did).
The ending was quite pleasant. I knew that Hakuryuu wouldn’t show up to fight. I thought that he would go after his insane mother. But no, he chose to watch the battle from afar as he witnessed how Titus was reincarnated as a Magi the battle was over. The good guys win again and the bad guys will have to try again in the future. Also, Leam has officially become part of the Seven Seas Alliance and Scheherazade is officially dead now. All that’s left is to defeat Hakuryuu’s mother in the third season in order to stop this great evil once and for all.Read More
Yeah, it’s safe to say that my predictions were spot-on. I should’ve known that they would try to end things this way. In fact, do not be surprised if they are going to continue with a new arc in the form of a third season. The animation is certainly successful enough.
The mayhem continues as the enemy is getting stronger with every passing second. Yeah, Aladdin, Alibaba, Kouen and his family tried their best to stop it, but it was useless. They launched one attack after the other and where the only ones that ended up getting hurt. Their enemy instead got stronger as he absorbed the rukh of every single thing it touched. The ocean, the earth, wildlife, everything was absorbed in order to make that thing stronger and bigger. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that thing was capable of absorbing magical attacks, too. As long as its hands touches it, right?
It’s always a kick in the balls, no matter when or how, when things go exactly the way you expect them to. I hate that. It was too obvious that Morgiana, Sinbad and the rest of his friends would show up at the end to save the day. I don’t I need to point out that they will be successful. It always ends with a happy ending unless there’s another season in-coming.
My final prediction would have to be about Hakuryuu… Yeah, I’m pretty sure he’s going after his mother. Perhaps with the help of that evil Magi that has taken an interest in him. Most might think that he’s going to the battlefield, too, to help his friends in their time of need, but I for one think that he’s going after the one person that he hates most; his mother. We’ll see…Read More
I don’t get it anymore. There is something seriously wrong with this story. Will two more episodes be enough to cover the entire story? Doubtful. I don’t think the next episode looks quite promising in terms of completing the story. A third season might be necessary.
Where are Sinbad and his warriors? Where the hell is Hakuryuu? Where is Morgiana after she travelled far and wide to look for her people when a lot of them are on the battlefield with Aladdin and Alibaba? Seriously, what is going on? It doesn’t make any sense right now. Don’t tell me that they’re going to squeeze all of that in during the next two episodes? I’d rather have the season end without those characters showing up at the very, very last minute to save the day. Just make a third season and solve the remaining few mysteries during that time. Just don’t rush the ending…
Status report: Titus is as good as dead, Scheherazade will soon follow him after she decided to protect the innocent people of Magnostadt and Kouen, after agreeing to help Aladdin in return for the world’s secrets, summoned the rest of his brothers and sister to his side in order to help him fight against that dark entity that’s currently invading their world.
The episode ended with Alibaba’s and Kouen’s combined attack. To some it may seem that they were successful, but those that have been paying attention know that it’s not. Those dark ‘priest’ characters that were watching will surely do something about it, not to mention Kouen’s mother. It’s only a matter of time before they join the fight, too.Read More
I’m going to have to schedule this week’s Hajime no Ippo review by yet another day. I don’t have it in me right now. I’m completely out of energy and writing this particular episode is draining whatever energy I have left. God, I’m truly, truly tired…
I must not think about the mild predictability I’m currently experiencing in Magi. Thinking about that might put me straight to sleep. You can already tell what’s going to happen next week. It’s a good thing that the ending had a nice little twist. I would’ve been pretty disappointed if it didn’t. How else could the story make any sense at this point?
So we finally get a brief estimate of how Kouen acts in the heat of battle. He seems overly confident and quite level-headed. He doesn’t seem to make any rash decisions and seems to care for his family and troops. I don’t know if that’s just because he has plans for them or because he’s genuinely concerned for their wellbeing, but something doesn’t add up.
Matal may have been defeated by Titus, but the real enemy finally shows his face (kind of). It finally starts to make a little sense. Just a little. It seems that Hakuryuu’s insane mother tried very hard to resurrect her father. That just sounds a little strange. That big ball of dark Rukh is supposed to be her father? Perhaps her husband? I don’t know. I hope to learn a bit more about the next week.
The real question being right now; where the hell is Hakuryuu, where the hell is Morgiana and where the hell are Sinbad and his team of elite warriors? They should’ve been here a few episodes ago. Hakuryuu will undoubtedly show up to stop his insane mother, Sinbad and his men will probably show up at the end to fight off Kouen and his men and Morgiana will probably show up with that Magi to fight off that evil being together with Aladdin. Pretty good guess, no?Read More
Yet another episodes arrives (late) and the same question keeps popping up in my mind. When exactly are the rest of the characters showing up? There are only a couple of episodes left and the war seems to have reached its final stage. Hurry up…
So old man Matal finally made his way to his underground complex. He saw how old those non-magical people were begging them, the magicians, to keep them safe so that they can continue their pathetic lifestyle as they are being drained of energy during every single minute of every single day. But that’s not why Matal went down there. He doesn’t care about their wellbeing of their wishes. They are just livestock to him, nothing more. He went down there to use all of the black Rukh that he had been saving up. Fighting off countless of evil Djinn-like creatures isn’t going to be easy, not even for the Kou Empire’s army.
That being said, Alabiba destroyed one of those Djinns like it was nothing. Not to mention Kouen, the eldest son of the Ren family, rulers of the Kou Empire, and his followers. They showed up and annihilated all of those evil Djinns with only one attack. There is once again a huge shift in power taking place. Don’t be surprised if some of the main characters start looking weak again.
That being said, what about Aladdin? He managed to hold off the Leam Empire’s Fanalis squad, but now he seems like he’s out of juice. Fighting those evil Djinn-like creatures and/or the Kou Empire’s strongest warriors might be too hard for him. I dare call it impossible right now. I’m pretty sure the rest of Aladdin’s allies will show up next week. They have to…Read More
Why, Magi? Why? Why did you have to disappoint me so much!? Is this what I can look forward to after forcing me to wait yet another week? The fight might as well have ended during last week’s episode so that I could’ve been spared from this annoying feeling of pure disappointment.
I remember how the Fanalis commander held up his sword to use his Djinn equip. I remember that very well. So yeah, I was smiling when I finally saw him in that cool-looking mode as he was about to carve his way into the city of Magnostadt. Aladdin probably had no way of stopping that attack until Alibaba, late as hell, drops in and stops him from attacking. This eyesore of a character might have done something terribly wrong by stopping that guy. It’s quite obvious that Matal is still hiding something and it might’ve been better if the city was breached by the Leam Empire. I’m obviously only saying this because it might have stopped Matal’s plan, whatever it may be, from coming into fulfilment.
What do we have now? We have a bunch of pissed of characters and we have a dying Magi, Scheherazade. It seems that she, too, is just a copy of the original, and that it’s the original body of Scheherazade that’s actually dying, which means that all the copies, Titus included, will soon perish when the original body breathes it’s last breath.
What are we left with? Well, we are left with two strong characters, Aladdin and Alibaba, an empire that’s basically been defeated and on its way home, we have a Kou Empire that’s about to start its march towards Magnostadt, and Morgiana and Sinbad and his crew are still nowhere to be found. I’m guessing that Hakuryuu will show up when the Kou Empire does.Read More
What is going on with Magi? First they rescheduled the series a few days later and now it’s back to its original program? That is quite confusing. Maybe it’s because they needed to air one episode a little earlier in order to ‘sync’ with the rest of the shows?
Anyway, all hell has broken loose and people are dropping like flies (literally). It was quite awesome to see how overpowering the Fanalis are, which makes me wonder how their numbers have decreased to only a few dozen. They seem powerful and very adaptive. They can fight head-on, from a distance and they seem to endure pretty much everything you throw at them. It really makes me want to learn more about their tribe and about what makes them so ridiculously strong. Also, a small history lesson on what happened to them would be nice, too. They haven’t told us enough about the Fanalis if you ask me.
So Aladdin finally removed that gem, huh? The smile on my face was so tremendous that even the Joker from Batman would shamefully back away. Aladdin finally showed people that he is a true Magi. I was actually surprised to see that old man Matal didn’t know that. I thought that he knew pretty much everything about Aladdin. That was nice!
The ending left me unsatisfied. Yes, the Fanalis are not done fighting, although the Leam Empire’s morale has been completely shattered. Where is the Kou Empire? Where is Sinbad and his crew of elite warriors? It looks like the war is almost over and most of the (known) characters haven’t even shown up yet. Perhaps Alibaba will make it in time to show us how much he’s improved…Read More
I really expected a lot more after last week’s episode. This episode was like a preview of what’s to come. A taste of action before the real thing starts. It made me think about the remaining few episodes… They will not be sufficient to cover everything… Perhaps they’re already discussing a third season?
The reason this all started is because old man Matal is being a selfish pain in the ass. He thinks he knows everything because his friends and family were treated like dirt during a time where stuff like that was normal. I was actually surprised that he thought that a couple of magical barriers and long-ranged attacks would be enough to stop his enemies from reaching his magical city of death and destruction. Either he really is a fool that thinks that magicians are the strongest and smartest out there or it’s another one of those tricks to fool the viewers into thinking that that’s really all there is to it. That would certainly be very disappointing after all we’ve seen.
I’m also a little disappointed that Aladdin is still fooling around. There’s a war going on right now. He still isn’t using his Magi powers even though Matal probably already knows who he is. Who cares if he doesn’t? It won’t matter if Aladdin doesn’t stop him in time before more people die because of that old man’s foolish desire to create a world where he and his magicians rule.
I’m just happy that those Fanalis characters are raising so much hell. It’s really no wonder that their kind is nearing extinction, even though more and more of them keep popping up all over the place. Those characters are really overpowering. I definitely wouldn’t mind watching what kind of damage a whole group of them could do against a city full of magicians.Read More
