Maken-Ki! episode 05

Oh happy day! It seems that other subgroups are finally picking up on Maken-Ki! I’m very glad to see that NicoNico, a subgroup known for their pretty accurate and fast subs, decided to make this anime one of their projects.  I knew that this anime had some potential. Also, I received an E-mail from one of the Hatsuyuki members thanks to my Thank You post.

This episode was pretty good. This episode contains more action than comedy, which is fine once in a while. It’s nice to see that Takeru still gets into trouble thanks to his ‘accidental’ trip, fall and grope style. I would be thrown in jail if I tried to do that, life is so unfair! I want to slip and fall face-first into a pair of big breasts too.

It was awesome to see Haruko’s Maken. Her sword, Murakumo, is said to be the strongest of all eight original Maken. That’s why she has the nickname “Tenbi’s strongest maiden” ever since she enrolled. She had to use it when Takeru and that crazy little girl both got captured by this female Maken user. She has the ability to capture people using her Maken, completely disabling their movement. She can only capture people in her web if she knows the name(s) of her target(s).

This week’s episode was pretty fun. I can’t wait for next week, especially know that other subgroups are all over this anime.

Maken-Ki! episode 04

Dear readers forgive me, for I have sinned. I couldn’t wait patiently for this week’s episode of Maken-Ki! I lost to my impatient side and read the manga to date. I’m sorry! I couldn’t help it, I had to know more about Takeru’s Maken. The manga is pretty far ahead and very detailed, no way could they cover the entire manga to date in just twelve episodes. I just hope they will animate the good parts!

This week’s episode was hilarious, interesting and had some pretty nice action scenes. Takeru ended up going out on some sort of a date with Kodama due to circumstances beyond his control, it wasn’t your traditional date though, or maybe it was for some. Takeru was basically the mule during Kodama’s shopping frenzy.

It’s getting late so the two decided to go visit a maid café to get something to eat, where they “happened” to come across Azuki wearing a cute maid outfit. Kodama knew she worked there, yet she still decided to go there with Takeru. Azuki didn’t like it and practically threatened Takeru to keep quiet about her part-time job. Too bad that Haruko, Inaho and that jealous pervert was following both of them during their date, those three now know about Azuki’s job as well.

The day finally comes to a climax when Kodama suddenly realizes that she had lost sight of her true objective; investigating the mark on Takeru’s chest. She suddenly makes a move for it, when suddenly a bunch of geeks from her fan club interrupt their little moment. She soon sends those three idiots flying when another guy, a dangerous guy, suddenly pops up and attacks Kodama. Takeru wouldn’t stand for it; he came between them, went berserk and ended up beating the crap out of that guy. Kodama, as well as those three stalkers, were surprised by Takeru’s sudden display of strength.  Kodama was happy that Takeru protected her and rewarded him by giving him a kiss on the lips. Those three idiots were shocked, mad and completely jealous of what just happened between them.

Man, I really laughed a lot during this episode. I seriously can’t wait for next week. It has also caught my attention that other subgroups are now paying attention to Maken-Ki! I like that. I just hope that one of the bigger ones decide to take interest in this anime, it’s getting hard to wait two extra days for a subbed version.

Maken-Ki! episode 03

About time, I was getting really impatient. The third episode got aired two days ago, but the subbed version finally appeared earlier this evening.  I don’t want to have to wait two extra days every week, that would suck so hard. I wonder why Maken-Ki! is only being subbed by Hatsuyuki, because it’s pretty good. People who like hilarious ecchi animes, like me, would love this one.

I’m very curious about Takeru’s Maken. Takeru came between Azuki and her opponent, catching his blow head-on. Not many people noticed, but Kodama, as expected, realized what was happening. I hope that we’re going to find out about his Maken in the next episode. I’m guessing that the ability of his Maken has something to do with the absorbing or deflecting the energy released by other Maken. Mind you, this guess is only based on what I’ve seen during this episode, I’m not actually one hundred percent sure.

I’m rather confused as to why this anime is not popular enough to be subbed by other groups. Still, I like Hatsuyuki, they provide many people pretty good and accurate subs. What’s more confusing is that this anime, although not as popular as some of the other anime released this fall, has some really well-known voice actors and actresses. Most of those voice actors and actresses all have very impressive résumés.

I liked how they threw in that big breasted teacher. I think her presence could really spice up the story, providing she’ll play a part in the love polygon that revolves around Takeru. Apparently Haruko took notice of Takeru’s interest in huge breasts, which is probably why she was wearing breast pads, although I don’t think that she needs them.

And finally I would like to end this post by expressing my gratitude towards Hatsuyuki. They have done one hell of a job so far, and not just with Maken-Ki! Their C3, Fate/Zero and Persona 4 subs are also very good. Keep up the good work! Their only flaw is their speed, it takes them slightly over a day extra to release something. I guess they simply prefer quality over quantity. I can’t blame them though, I’d rather wait another day than having to watch something with bad and/or incomplete subs.
