Medaka Box Abnormal episode 04

I can see it! I can finally see where they’re going with this! I was under the impression that they wanted Medaka in class thirteen, but it seems that there’s so much more behind it. It’s not just about the “flask plan”. It’s about Medaka as well. The way I see it, she’s standing in the middle of it all.

I couldn’t help but notice that Shigusa, Medaka-chan’s opponent this week, happened to mention that Medaka is the exact opposite of all the members in class thirteen. I couldn’t help but wonder why… Why is Medaka so different? I also remembered him saying that everyone in class thirteen is searching for the perfect human being. This just led me to believe that they think that Medaka’s the closest to being perfect. Let’s face it; every person in class thirteen has at least one flaw, yet they are all Medaka’s opposite. It’s strange, because I know for a fact that Medaka’s pretty flawed as well. She has her moments, definitely, but I’m pretty sure she has more flaws than any of those “abnormals”.

I haven’t even started about how Medaka defeated Shigusa. He was a tough opponent, but that didn’t stop Medaka from defeating him. It’s a shame that they lost the data though. It almost made this episode seem useless. Yes, almost. The amount of information one obtained during this episode made it all worthwhile.

There’s one small thing that bothers me… Medaka’s next opponent is Kei, an abnormal that is on the most wanted list for mass murder. I have no idea how I should respond to that. I mean, he’s a wanted man. How is it possible for him to enrol into a high school? I know Medaka Box isn’t known for its realism, but come on… At least give us a nice explanation during next week’s episode, please!

Medaka Box Abnormal episode 03

Huh? How can this be? Last week’s episode ended just as their training was about to start. I thought for sure that we would spend at least one episode watching their training. I was kind of surprised to see that they were done. We didn’t see any of it. Not even for a single second. It’s strange, especially when they stood their ground against that cocky brat.

I was shocked at first. Didn’t get to see their training, didn’t know how they improved, yet they were confident in confronting that guy. Sure, they didn’t kneel before him this time, but whatever damage they think they done was non-existent. It’s useless. He is still too strong for them. I guess that one night of training wasn’t nearly enough to put Zenkichi and Medaka on the same level as him.

Still, strength wasn’t the most important thing during this episode. Information was what’s important. Medaka and the rest of the student council set their sights on finding out more about the “flask plan”. They know the basics; they know that it’s supposed to turn “normal’s” into “abnormal’s” at the cost of many students.

Medaka and the rest of her student council made their way to their facility, only to find out that it requires them to partake in several tests to come closer and closer to their research. Secret codes, long walks and fights against members of class thirteen are the order of the day. I like that. I would love to see how Medaka would fare against regular members of class thirteen now that she finished her brother’s nightly training. Note: you are a pervert if you smiled during that last line.

Anyway, I’ll end things here by saying that Hansode is still my least favourite character. I don’t like the personality. She acts all cut in front of everyone, but in reality she’s just a little monster that likes to see Medaka-chan suffer.

Medaka Box Abnormal episode 02

Nice! Great episode! I’m very excited about this, but I’m also having mixed feelings about this. The artwork was the first and foremost reason as to why I loved the first season. That being said, one of the characters during this episode, Oudo, didn’t look that great. The voice just doesn’t match the character and I’m pretty sure they screwed up his eyes. His eyes look pretty bad.

Hell, let us focus a bit on this Oudo character. He’s cocky, overconfident and pretty clueless when it comes to modern society. He thinks he’s the king of the world. His overconfidence led to an unfortunate turn of events where both Medaka and Zenkichi ended up on their knees.  His eyes look terribly done and his voice just doesn’t match the character. You’re looking at a teenage character when you see that guy, yet you hear an old geezer’s voice when he speaks. It’s way too strange.

Medaka realized that she was out of league (strength-wise), whereupon she decided to pay her older brother, an infamous manager that’s known to be able to manage anything, a visit together with Zenkichi. I was rather excited when I they said that, as I have always wanted to know a bit more about Medaka-chan.

Yeah… I was excited… until I actually laid eyes on that guy. Maguro, Medaka’s older brother, turned out to be a huge “siscon”. Having a sister complex is one thing, but that guy is ridiculous. His entire room consists of Medaka items, items like Medaka posters, Medaka stuffed animals, Medaka mouse pads and a whole lot more. That guy is very far gone, seriously.

But anyway, it all comes down to this; both Medaka and Zenkichi are about to be trained by Maguro. I just hope that this training of theirs won’t take up too many episodes. This season consists of only twelve episodes, and I still want to see a little bit of kick-ass fighting. Who wouldn’t want to see that? It’s times like these that make me wish I could control time.

Medaka Box Abnormal

Woohoo, Medaka Box is back! The first season was very amusing and pretty interesting. And I must say that this season has a darn good start. It came as no surprise to me that Shiranui’s grandfather, the school’s principle, turned out to be such an evil man. It’s not entirely certain that he’s evil, but no good guy has eyes like that.

The artwork is still the same as ever, good! The characters were part of the reason why I love this show. Pick any character from Medaka Box, any one. I’m pretty confident that I would be able to pick that character out of a line-up. It’s simply that good.

I can’t say much about the story yet. It sounds pretty interesting, although Medaka-chan doesn’t strike me as the type that would hurt people to gain a higher position. I guess that’s why she declined the principle’s offer to become part of those thirteen “abnormal” students, also known as class thirteen.

Anyway, long story short; yes. I recommend Medaka Box’s season two to everyone. Be sure to have seen the first season before starting this one, otherwise you won’t understand a thing of what’s going on here.

Plot Summary: What started as a simple assistance program has escalated insanely out of control, and now Medaka Kurokami finds herself exposed as something far more than human. But that’s only the beginning of a new series of shocking revelations that lead towards a dark secret plan that not even the unbelievable power of her War God Mode may be able to withstand. Still, Medaka’s proving to be good at thinking outside of the box, and if she needs the full backing of every hidden resource of the Student Council to meet the challenge, then that’s what she’s going to get. Even the Abnormal ones!
