Overlord episode 05

Okay, I am already getting nervous. I saw a lot of things that I simply do not like. Also, this episode raised a lot of questions in my case. A new bad guy appears and I’m sure that Momonga will have his hands full soon.

[Ohys-Raws] Overlord - 05 (AT-X 1280x720 x264 AAC).mp4_snapshot_07.59_[2015.08.05_23.41.03]The guy decided to go on a quest to gain information and obtain some of their local currency. I mean, he has heaps of gold in his stronghold; is it really that hard to melt it down to make new, local coins? And why start out as a copper plate warrior? Just show your skills and rise to the top instantly to get the best quests…

What pisses me off is that I see nothing but headaches ahead. I mean, a group of somewhat experienced adventurers have invited Momonga and his servant to join them on a question. Why? Why invite complete noobs on a quest? It’s obvious that they have an ulterior motive for doing so. It’s hard to believe that there’s such a thing as charity in that world.

He gave one of his superior potions to some girl and that eventually ended up in the hands of a very questionable character. She became instantly interested in that potion and its origin and she probably sent her grandson to lure him into a trap or something. It’s painfully obvious. It is by no means a coincidence that Momonga, whom only arrived a day earlier, already got a personal request after having parted with that potion. It’s only a matter of time now.

Overlord episode 04

Okay, I’ll admit I got a little nervous there. I really want Momonga or Ains as he prefers to be called now to remain the overpowering character that he is now. There is a pretty good chance that that’s not the case anymore now.

[Ohys-Raws] Overlord - 04 (AT-X 1280x720 x264 AAC).mp4_snapshot_05.47_[2015.07.30_00.17.52]We learned that there are others that can use magical items that belonged to that game. They can summon stuff, watch people from afar and god only knows what else. Ains had the advantage of being the only one with items like that, but not anymore. There are characters out there that know about that game and the items from the game. They are doing the exact same thing as Ains right now; exploring the world and making use of ignorant humans in order to obtain more information and power. That might mean that Ains is not necessarily the strongest.

[Ohys-Raws] Overlord - 04 (AT-X 1280x720 x264 AAC).mp4_snapshot_18.57_[2015.07.30_00.18.13]And what about that swordsman? He used some pretty interesting attacks against those angel-like characters. It was just like the moves you’d see in your average MMORPG. Are there others like him? Can that sort of thing be thought or do you have to be born with that talent? There’s just too much that we don’t know yet…

I like how Ains doesn’t get full of himself. He is currently still the strongest so far, but he doesn’t brag about it and he certainly doesn’t underestimate others. He fights carefully, thinking that there might be someone strong to beat him just around the corner. That’s really good thinking. I like characters like that a lot.

Overlord episodes 02 & 03

I was already considering writing about Overlord. It looked promising to begin with, but the second episode didn’t really give me a clear idea of what I can expect to see in the future. This episode made up for that and really liked what I saw.

[Ohys-Raws] Overlord - 02 (AT-X 1280x720 x264 AAC).mp4_snapshot_20.42_[2015.07.22_23.43.21]Last week’s episode was more like an intro. It was to build up a little suspense and show us the bigger pictures of the protagonist’s guild. He met them, verified their loyalty and gave them orders in order to secure their domain in case of an attack. It shouldn’t be all that surprising that he’s good at it; he’s been playing that game a long time and knows all about it. It’s like asking an old sci-fi die-hard to explain the Star Wars movies to you; he knows all. All he needed to do was make sure that everything was exactly the same or at least similar as in the game.

[Ohys-Raws] Overlord - 03 (AT-X 1280x720 x264 AAC).mp4_snapshot_21.49_[2015.07.22_23.43.55]This week’s episode was far more interesting because it showed us a great deal. It shows us that the protagonist doesn’t plan on killing all the humans in that world. He wants to become ally and probably gain control by helping them and winning their alliance. That’s one way to go; get people to worship and follow you because of your power.

But that’s not the real reason I decided to write about it; I just like overpowered characters. We have a character that can use magic of a level so high that he has no known equal. I simply cannot help but love a story like that, even though they sometimes tend to become a little bit predictable. That is why I am looking forward to the next episode.

Now this is what I call a tricky show. I’m giving it a fifty/fifty. This either turns out really well or it turns out sh*tty. Shows generally turn out pretty well when it’s about characters that get stuck inside games, so I’m kind of hopeful.

OverlordThe artwork definitely isn’t bad. That protagonist looks badass and I’m definitely into overpowered characters. The artwork definitely drew me in.

Like I said; it’s a story about a guy that gets trapped inside his favourite game. Now he has to find a way out. Stories like these usually do really well. It should be interesting to see how the protagonist plans to escape that world.

I think I can recommend this to be honest. I quite enjoyed the first episode. What I saw was quite good and it definitely has my attention now. In fact, I can’t wait for the second episode.

Plot Summary: In the year 2138, virtual reality gaming is booming. Yggdrasil, a popular online game is quietly shut down one day. However, one player named Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as “the most powerful wizard.” The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) beginning to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.
