I am just going to put this out there right away; I will not be watching this. I probably won’t even other to try out the second episode. I’ll see what I’ll do when the time comes. Bakumatsu Rock is officially this season’s first lemon.
The artwork… Shoot me. What is this? Is Japan going to turn Wednesday into some kind of gay pride day? The characters just looks dreadful. It’s like they invested all of their resources into the characters instead of creating an all-round great show.
The story… Shoot me again! Incredible amount of bullsh*t going on with this one. Completely inaccurate story where characters have electric guitar’s in an era where electricity wasn’t even used yet. Not to mention all sorts of historical inaccuracies that, I think, disrespect the Japanese culture. This is like a bad Gintama replica.
I definitely won’t be watching this, so why would you? Of course, everyone has different taste, but I definitely do not recommend this. It was dreadfully uninteresting and painfully inaccurate. What a damn shame.
Plot Summary: In the Bakumatsu era, at the end of the shoguns’ rule over Japan in the middle of the 19th century: the Tokugawa shogunate uses the brainwashing Heaven’s Songs by the top idols in Shinsengumi to subjugate the country and its people. In this Japan, writing or singing any songs besides the Heaven’s Songs is a capital offence. Sakamoto Ryouma and the other rockers rise up and change the world with rock ‘n’ roll for freedom and justice.
