Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai

I had my doubts about this when I read about this in the 2011 fall chart, but it’s not that bad at all. Sure the story may not be all that unique, but there are things that make up for that. Even my girl found it amusing, even though she doesn’t normally watch these types of anime.

The artwork is superb; it is very detailed, I like that. The characters look really good, especially their heads, well done. No matter what scene you watch, you can tell it’s very detailed. Especially when you compare this with some of the anime from last summer, you’d be surprised. This anime, for some reason, reminded me about the anime Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko, graphically that is.

Despite the lack of uniqueness in this story, as I stated above, I still think that this anime has a lot of potential. It’s funny, very well drawn and above all this anime exists mainly out of well-known voice actors and actresses. I’m definitely watching this.

Plot Summary: Hasegawa Kodaka has transferred schools, and he’s having a hard time making friends. It doesn’t help that his blond hair tends to make people think he’s a delinquent. One day, he runs into his bad-tempered solitary classmate Yozora while she’s talking animatedly to her imaginary friend Tomo. Realizing that neither of them have any actual friends, they decide that the best way to alter this situation is to form a club and start recruiting.

That is how “Rinjinbu”, The Neighbours’ Club, was formed, a club specifically designed for people who don’t have very many friends. As other lonely classmates slowly join their little club, they’ll try to learn how to build friendships through cooking together, playing games, and other group activities. But will this group of relationship-challenged misfits really be able to get along?
