Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT episode 06

I wish I could say I was happy with this episode, but the truth is that I came to an unfortunate realisation. Frankly, I don’t think this is going anywhere. I don’t think Kodaka is going to end up with any of the girls, not even his “childhood friend”, Yozora.

Everyone wanted to know why he was dreaming about Yozora. I thought I saw a glimpse of what might happen. Boy was I wrong. It’s too bad, but the comedy soon took over after that.

I have no idea how we ended up at Sena’s interest in competitions, and how everyone let her compete and win because of her big breasts that bounced all over the place. I can’t blame them. I would actually pay to see a ‘real’ version of Sena work out like that. Still, to think that it came to that after such a promising start is rather disappointing.

They have become a little more aggressive than before, especially when it comes to swearing and whatnot. Of course, Rika takes the cake here. She’s been trying a tsundere approach, hoping it might catch on. I like that just as much as I like her new look; it sucks. Perhaps it’s because I’m not that happy with change?

I just fear that it’s not going anywhere. It’s almost getting to the point where I would call this a waste of time if it weren’t for the fact that I actually still enjoy watching it. The fact that Yukimura turned out to be a girl after all is still number one here. I like that, but the story has become stagnant ever since.

  1. lol, I know she was tricking her. When I say Yozora was starting to get better, I was talking about the last couple of episodes where she was pretty likable. Her attitude was a lot better than in the first season. She was still teasing Sena but she didn’t go overboard. I thought she had finally learned her lesson after the hairstyle thing, but nope. Stopping at simply tricking Sena with that fake fortune telling would have been fine (it was also Sena’s fault for being so damn gullible, she never learns either), but she just had to pull a nasty prank on her by telling her to go on the roof at midnight and yell Sexy Beam loud enough for her father to hear, knowing full well it was going to end badly for her. The worst part is that she clearly derived a lot of enjoyment from it, and once again, she did not realize she went too far until after the fact. That’s why I was disappointed in her. Read my reply above. I actually agree with you on quite a few points. My main problem is that I feel Yozora’s character development effectively reverted in this episode. I genuinely thought she was past pulling that kind of mean prank on Sena already, since she should know she always takes them at heart. I was gravely mistaken. Now, I’m aware the “mean” final part of the prank was not what truly hurt Sena, but this is the one that personally bothered me. I can’t blame Yozora for the first part since it was Sena who misinterpreted everything (it wasn’t even supposed to be a prank initially, and she was even warned!), though she should have stopped once she realized Sena was buying everything she said. Instead, she went one step further and was laughing her ass off. This is what doesn’t sit well with me. I wish Kodaka and the others would also intervene rather than remain passive observers. Kodaka knows full well when Yozora goes too far and he always lets it happen.
