Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren
I knew it. I knew since I finished watching the sixth of seventh episode of season one that there was going to be another season. This sort of thing does great in Japan. Hell, it does great in the west as well. People love cute characters with strange personalities, especially if romance is involved. It was only a matter of time before this season was green-lit.
I have always loved the artwork. The characters look superb and it’s incredibly detailed, especially those ridiculous scenes where it almost seems as though the characters really do have supernatural abilities. This definitely is not another budget production. They go all-out with this one and it clearly shows in every single episode.
I actually have a feeling that the second season is going to be better. In season one it was all about Makoto and his desire to leave the past in the past. This season is about living with a ‘special’ girlfriend and trying to improve that relationship. This season’s story should be packed with romance and comedy. I can’t wait to see what happens.
I must ask you to watch the first season. I truly believe that this is one of those pieces that are worth watching. I, too, was sceptical at first but I do not regret giving it a try when the first season first started out in 2012. It’s been a joyous rollercoaster of comedy and romance ever since. So yeah, I recommend this to all.
