Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge episode 04

I just love how time is moving forward in Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge. Normally you’d watch a show where the characters pretty much say the same age and have the same looks, but not here. Iwai-chan has a different look in almost every episode, plus she looks a bit older now. Or is that just me?

They’re all a bit older, wiser perhaps, and they’re now also in the same class. That couldn’t possible go wrong… God… Iwai, Kiri and Yamane all in one class… It’s bad enough that Kiri has this perverted desire to cut Iwai’s hair, but now he has to be weary of Yamane as well.

I sense a disturbance in the force. That’s right, I just quoted a line out of star wars, just kill me already. It’s only a matter of time before Houko tells Yamane to do something that might harm Kiri and/or Iwai. Yamane might be in her way in becoming friends with those two, but at the end of the day she’ll do whatever Houko tells her to do.

All those murderers either are perverts or they attract them. During this episode we meet yet another murderer whose Killing Goods is a book, a book that allows him to kill criminals only. Kind of ingenious, but why the police lady? I know she probably has some sort of role, but did she have to be a pervert that gets off on getting choked until she’s unconscious? She’s funny, cute and has balls (it’s a metaphor, don’t worry), yet she turned out to be one of the biggest perverts in this show. I’m intrigued either way. Let’s see where they are going with this, shall we?

  1. Fukou da says:

I’m not reading the manga so I have no idea if my theory is wrong or not. But I’d think that you’re half-right when saying that perversion and murder goes hand in hand.

For one thing, the Killing Goods seem to have a slight sentience which they use to choose their Authors among the descendents of the original killers. My guess is that the Goods are looking for people with an obsession/interest that can be related, or even mirror the one of the original.

For example: The original user of the Crime Edge Norma Grayland used his Goods to “cut” people limb from limb as his signature as a serial killer. As a result Crime Edge chose Kiri, a descendent with an interest in “cutting” hair as it’s Author.

It’s the same for the Author of that book if I’m correct. From how I saw it, the original user may have had an obsession with “justice”. Enough so that he killed himself to make sure justice was served. As a result, the book chose someone with a mirror image of the original killers interest as it’s Author.

As for the Insteads. It would take a special kind of person to let some Authors pretend to commit murder. It’s easy for Kiri who can calm down the Crime Edge by “cutting” something that belongs on a human. But for Authors like Yamane who needs to harm their Insteads?

I have no idea if I’m right or not but it sounds possible to me.

    • I don’t know, man… It sounds a bit too easy. I think there’s more to it than that.

      • Fukou da says:

It probably is, we’re only four episodes into the story after all. This is just a theory I came up with using the info from these four episodes.

  2. GameDemon says:

I think it sounds a bit easy as well. But hey, like you said, we’re only four episodes in, so whatever idea you have may easily be changed during the next episode. That’s how these things usually work.
