Devil Survivor 2 The Animation episode 03

Devil Survivor 2: The Animation continues to amaze me even now. The drama is terrific and I love how they’re not afraid to show how characters die. Makes me wonder why I spent so much time watching Digimon when I could’ve been watching stuff like this (in the future).

They can have multiple and, from what I’ve seen so far, characters get a new one when a demon gets destroyed beyond repair. That’s a pretty interesting system, a system that resembles MMORPG’s, games where the player can create multiple character, level and gear them up to make them stronger.

It got me thinking; Hibiki has Byakko, a very rare demon with incredible powers. It’s safe to assume that there aren’t many of them out there, which is why Hibiki got recruited right away. I wonder… Will Hibiki lose Byakko when he gets destroyed? Or is that demon permanently bound to Hibiki? One thing is certain; one can own more than one demon.

Keita went out to find Fumi, their long lost professor, when suddenly a video of his death surfaced. Everyone, of course, rushed to his aid in order to prevent him from dying. It seemed to work at first; Hinako and her demon managed to save him from being impaled, only to see how he died after the battle was over. Fumi was being controlled by some kind of demon, the same demon that attacked and killed Keita near the end. I was truly amazed by that twist, because I thought that Keita’s death was avoided when he was saved by Hinako’s demon. Damn, I can’t wait for the next episode…
