Fate/Zero 2 episode 05

What a strange episode this was. I thought that I would be happy to learn more about the past of certain characters. Was I wrong? I’m not going to dance around it; I didn’t enjoy this episode one bit. It was dull, boring and pretty pointless if you ask me. This will be quite a short post I’m afraid.

The episode revolved around a boy named Kerry. I can only imagine that ‘Kerry’ at one point grew into Kirei. Who else could it possibly have been? Those were the days were he was still innocent and harmless. Yes, apparently he had such days. Who would’ve known?

The episode showed us how Kirei became so twisted, how he came into contact with the concept of religion, and probably why he’s after the Holy Grail now. I believe that a person’s past has always got something to do with that person’s future. His choices in life could’ve very well been influenced by past experiences. He saw his friends go nuts and looked death right in the eye. That is bound to traumatize him.

Like I said; I’m not going into detail. The episode was really uninteresting. What can I say? I’m just not interested in that character. I skipped through quite a bit actually, which is something I rarely do.

Update: Meh, so several people have been E-mailing me, and one of which has actually commented. I didn’t know the character in this episode was actually Kiritsugu. Frankly; I don’t really care at this point. I had really high expectations for this week’s episode, but this was just a little bit disappointing. I love this anime, and I tend to raise the bar pretty high with shows I love. Forgive this fool.

Fate/Zero 2 episode 05 screencaps

  1. Fukou da says:

Kirei? Are you f-ing serious? That’s Kiritsugu, don’t tell me you didn’t hear that. He was called by his full name by his father near the end of the episode and they even explained that they call him Kerry because they can’t pronounce his full name right. I don’t really see how this could be seen as boring, what with the entire island being turned into Dead Apostles and Kiritsugu killing his father to make sure he can never do something like that again.
Besidees, if you found this uninteresting then I doubt you’ll like the next episode as it seems like they will continue with Kiritsugu’s past and how he became the assassin-for-hire he is in the Grail War

    • GameDemon says:

He looks a lot like Kirei.

Anyway, like I said; I skipped through the episode quite a bit. I just don’t like to know about his past at this point. It’s something I should’ve known earlier.

Maybe the next episode will be better, who knows? I had really high expectations and this episode just didn’t meet them. Perhaps that’s why I lost interest halfway through.
