Fate/Zero 2 episode 06

Here it is again. I guess I have a lot to make up for, as I kind of screwed up during my last Fate/Zero post. Don’t blame me though; I skipped most of last week’s episode. I just wasn’t interested. I’ll have you know that this week’s episode was a whole lot better. It actually piqued my interest.

I just finished watching it and I finally realized how Kiritsugu got to be so heartless. He killed friends, family and a whole lot of other people he probably didn’t even know. The man has seen it all, done it all and probably killed it all. He went from a little boy that killed his father, to a young man that blew up a ghoul-infested plane with his ‘fake’ mother in the cockpit. Killing his one thing, but killing friends and family is something else entirely. You have to be pretty twisted to be able to do that without hesitation. Sure, he blew up that plane because he thought that it would save lives, but did he really do it because of that? I wonder…

It was all very weird and very dark. What’s even weirder is that Kiritsugu actually fathered a son later on. My whole image of him completely changed. How can such a man raise a child? He said it himself several times during the show; “I only know how to kill”. This, if you think about it, makes him no different than Caster or Kayneth. He killed a lot of people. His reasons for killing people don’t really matter at this point.

This makes me think completely different about Shirou, Kritisugu’s son, who is said to have been raised by his father. Sigh, why do these things have to be this complicated. I’ve already seen this week’s episode, and yet I’m still trying to figure these things out. It’s maddening. I just hope that the next episode will shine a little bit of light on what is going on.
