Fate/Zero 2 episode 08
Oh, how nice, yet another great episode. This episode is the sickest yet. It was very difficult to watch, seeing as I’m someone that doesn’t normally like to watch these types of scenes, but hey… It goes with the territory.
The story continues with Saber’s pursuit to retrieve Irisviel. She was under the impression that Rider abducted her and held her hostage on his chariot. That’s when Kiritsugu found out that it was Kariya and Kirei all along. Berserker, Kariya’s servant, has the ability to shape shift, allowing him to change into Rider (or any other servant/master for that matter). They probably did it to start a fight between Saber and Rider, hoping that they would take each other out. Very clever, and it would have worked if Saber wasn’t so smart. She realized that Irisviel wasn’t abducted by Rider when she was nowhere to be found when she caught up with them.
Meanwhile things got very complicated between Kirei and Kariya. Even Kariya’s father got involved, which was something that Kirei clearly didn’t like. Kirei promised Kariya that he would hand over Tokiomi as well as the Holy Grail to him. Kariya was supposed to come back to the church at midnight, where he was supposed to meet up with Tokiomi, only to find his corps. Kirei arranged it so that Aoi, Tokiomi’s wife and Kariya’s beloved friend, would arrive to find Kariya and her husband’s lifeless body. However, I never would have guessed that Kariya would’ve strangled her to death after that. See what I mean when I said that this is definitely the sickest episode yet?
Like I said; this episode, for me, was difficult to watch. I won’t lie by saying that I didn’t enjoy it, but it’s normally not my cup of tea. I’m just waiting for Kiritsugu to reunite Saber with her scabbard, which should give her a huge power boost. Ahh~ that brings back so many memories. I can remember just how many times that scabbard saved the life of Kiritsugu’s son, Shirou. It makes me feel a little nostalgic. It won’t be long now before other servants and/or masters get beaten. The end is clearly getting close and I can’t wait to see how it ends, even though I already have a theory worked out.
