Fate/Zero 2 episode 12
I finally remembered! Shiro, Kiritsugu’s son, wasn’t actually related to him by blood! He was found amongst the rubble after the explosion. I completely forgot about that, how silly. I have been thinking about it non-stop, wondering who the mother was. Damn.
I always knew that Saber didn’t actually destroy the Holy Grail. Yes, she was ordered to, but she never actually destroyed it. Saber got defeated, leaving Archer as the final servant alive. That is why he was able to stay behind, and why that bastard Kirei was still alive in the future. It all makes sense now. This story was absolutely brilliant. I thought about it long and hard, but I just couldn’t figure it out complete until I actually saw it at last. I’ll admit that I’m not exactly happy about the ending, but hey… I knew from the beginning that Archer would win. I’m pretty sure we all did.
I have to admit that I felt a little bit for Saber though. That character didn’t have it easy. She had to face many hardships to get there, only to be betrayed by her master as the end. That was definitely a tough pill to swallow. Still, Kiritsugu had it the worst. He wanted to help the world by getting rid of the Holy Grail, but only ended up making things worse by killing a lot of people in the process. And yet he still managed to raise a son. Nuts.
I would like to end this (short) post by saying that I’ve loved this anime. It’s been dark and chaotic at most times, which is something I rarely show interest in, but I loved it. I think I might fire up Fate Stay/Night next weekend and watch it till I drop. I’ve forgotten too much about it. Then again; It’s been years since I’ve seen it. I suggest to all that you watch Fate/Zero before Fate Stay/Night. It’s worth it!
