First Pretty Rhythm Shoujo movie green-lit
The cast members of the Pretty Rhythm franchise announced on Sunday that an anime film will open next spring. They made the announcement at the Pretty Rhythm Christmas -Prism Stage- event at Tokyo’s Takeshiba New Pier Hall.
Although toy maker Takara Tomy and game developer syn Sophia have been running the franchise continuously since the 2010 arcade game Pretty Rhythm Mini-Skirt, this will be the first anime film. The film will compile Prism Show scenes from all three television anime series.
The arcade games are targeted towards elementary school girls. The stories center around aspiring idols who compete in Prism Show, a new kind of event that combines skating, dancing, singing, and fashion.
The first television anime, Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream, premiered in 2011. Two more television anime, Pretty Rhythm Dear My Future and Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live, have since followed. Here is a promotional video for the ongoing Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live anime:
