Free!: Eternal Summer
Why is it that stuff like this gets more than one season when other good shows don’t? I shall never fully understand the way the average Japanese mind works. All I know for sure about Free! is that it’s dangerous stuff.
Yes, it’s definitely dangerous. The artwork that is. You never really knew when and if these boys suddenly get their gay on. It’s truly borderline stuff. It makes it even worse when the artwork looks as good as this. Damn them!
It’s an interesting story. It always has been. That’s probably why it got a second season. I don’t like the image of boys in speedos as they frolic around in the water, but the story makes it bearable. Hell, it makes it quite amusing to watch.
Do I recommend it? Why not? I enjoyed the first season even though I was uncomfortable at first. I certainly didn’t want to watch this stuff in front of other people. In the end it turned out to be quite enjoyable.
Plot Summary: Four boys named Haruka, Makoto, Nagisa and Rin all participated in a swimming tournament shortly before graduating elementary school and later parted ways. Years later, they reunite when Rin challenges Haruka to a race and wins. Not wanting to be defeated so easily, Haruka gathers Makoto and Nagisa and a new recruit named Rei to form the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club.
