Garo: Honoo no Kokuin
I am really doubtful about this one. I really liked the rough action, the sex and the whole idea of having to defeat an entire empire to set your people free. Then the protagonist started to fight and I started to doubt the whole thing.
I somewhat like the artwork. It’s dark and quite detailed. However, I do not like that golden armour of the protagonist. It looks cheap and it make me think about Majin Bone, which is lacking on many departments, artwork being one of them.
I must also be honest in saying that the story isn’t anything special either. A baby, born from a witch, gets saved by a mysterious knight before he got burned to death. He grows up to become a hero that will eventually save his kind from a horrible fate. Interesting, but by no means special.
It all comes down to personal taste. I will give the second episode a try because I want a better idea of what I can expect from this. You might as well give the first episode a try, unless you don’t like action anime with demons and magic in it.
Plot Summary: Mendosa, the chief adviser of the king of Valiante, begins a campaign to hunt down “witches,” resulting in the deaths of many magical knights and their sorcerer assistants. Anna, a sorceress married to the knight Herman Lewis, gives birth to a son before her execution. Herman takes their child, Leon, and flees, raising him to be the heir of the legendary Golden Armor. By the time Leon grows up, Valiante is completely in the control of Mendosa, who drives out Prince Alfonso and his mother. Alphonso decides to seek out the man who inherited the Golden Armor to reclaim the throne and save his people.
