Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

A lot of positive responses when the first episode appeared. I wanted it and I was left with mixed feelings. There are a couple of things that seemed rather strange that I would like to have seen changed, but okay.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kunThe artwork is alright. It didn’t blow my mind when I started watching. I do believe the characters, including the heroine, look a tad bit plain. Maybe my standards are too high, I don’t know.

The story is what I have problems with. This girl, Chiyo, has no problems going to a guy’s house, helping him with his work or go for a bicycle ride with him, yet she falls to pieces whenever she tries to confess to him? I find that very strange.

It’s a strange show that will undoubtedly require the viewers’ patience. Things will not be progressing smoothly and I doubt there’s ever going to be any major progress at all (just like with Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou). Watch this if you like to laugh at pointless romance.

Plot Summary: Sakura Chiyo confesses her feelings to her schoolmate Nozaki. Due to a misunderstanding, Nozaki thinks Sakura is just a fan. She then discovers Nozaki’s other identity; a shōjo manga artist. As she gets closer to Nozaki, she befriends Nozaki’s quirky acquaintances who assist him and serve as inspirations for his manga.
