Hakuouki Reimeiroku

So we meet again, huh? This is the third season if I’m not mistaken, which means that the anime in general has been doing very well in Japan. I can’t fully disagree either. I too have seen the first two seasons. It’s definitely a quality piece, as I enjoyed almost every bit, even though I’m normally not a big fan of slicing and dicing.

The artwork is still good. No surprise there, right? Everything is always so detailed, I love that! Also, and this may be just my opinion, but I really think that the characters are quite well made. Almost all of them look unique and interest. That was one of the first things I noticed when I first started watching.

However, I think we need to focus a bit more on the story. After all, people normally care more for a good story than realistic artwork. I am one of those people as well. I don’t mind if people get a tad bit lazy on the artwork, as long as the story is interesting. Oh, and you bet it is! Yet another story about chaos, friendship and betrayal. Good stuff!

I do recommend this anime, but I insist that you watch season one and two first! There’s no point in skipping on or more seasons before watching this. You’ll miss critical information, after which you might decide to drop the anime when things get too complicated. This anime is definitely worth it.

Plot Summary: The beginning of Hakuouki Series. Foretells the story Ryunosuke Ibuki, a boy who is a son of a samurai, yet hates a samurai. He was pick up by Roshigumi (later Shinsengumi) other leader Kamo Serizawa, when he was robbed and left to die on his way to the Capital (Kyoto). After being rescued, he was forced to become Serizawa’s dog, and slowly, the mystery is starting to unfold.
