Heavy Object episodes 02 & 03
The first episode wasn’t really anything special. It didn’t strike me as something that I would love to see, but the two episodes that followed really changed my mind. The setting is quite interesting and the action is just superb.
I think the whole idea is just good. We have a story about a world where nations with these so-called ‘Objects’ control the world. These weapons, strange-looking mechs, are supposedly so powerful that any nation that possesses one can be considered a superpower. It makes it quite a bit different than your average mecha anime. It’s not about quantity in this case. You can have a thousand tanks and they will still get obliterated by an object. If one of those weapons is seen as a powerful force, can you imagine how powerful a nation with two or more objects would be?
Of course, that’ll change. We are following a couple of guys that just destroyed one of those giant mechs by tampering with its parts. This will lead to many more attempts (by different characters) in order to reduce the amount of objects and perhaps to prove a point; man will always triumph. That is pretty much what piqued my interest. I don’t care for cute girls piloting mechs. I care more for a good story and well-timed action, which this show seems to have plenty of. It is for that reason that I chose to write about Heavy Object and I probably won’t end up regretting it either if things keep going like this.
