Hiiro no Kakera Dai Ni Shou
Well, I knew it would happen sooner or later, but I just don’t know why. The first season started abruptly, resulting in the episodes being released irregularly. I have to admit that I knew a second season was forthcoming. All the people that saw the first season knew. The question is; why? The first season was doing very poorly and the sales, from what I’ve read, were terrifyingly low. How could they possibly afford to fund yet another season? Only in Japan…
The artwork is still the same, I suppose. The lack of unique characters, the fairly detailed sceneries and even that little fox, one of the most unique things about this show, is still pretty much the same. Also, I noticed that they are still focussing way too much on character expressions. What’s up with that? A guy frowns and suddenly we have to look at a close up for roughly ten to fifteen seconds? Ridiculous.
The story, unfortunately, remains the same. Tamaki, the so-called “tamayuri princess”, is still busy trying to protect herself, her friends and the lands from enemies like Aria, a blonde loli that is supposed to be blessed by a god.
Do I recommend it? No, sorry. I found myself bored to death during the season, up to the point where I actually skipped through episodes, which is something I rarely do. The reason I give this a negative review, although it’s a new season, is because it started out poorly. It is absolutely unforgiveable to start a new season with a recap episode.
Plot Summary: Every girl dreams of being an enchanted princess, but how many stop to think about all the grim and horrible things that happen in fairy tales? That’s a lesson Tamaki learns all too graphically when she’s attacked by creatures she thought only existed in myths! Fortunately, she’s rescued by an extraordinary young man: one who’s not only part demon; but her future classmate as well, and one of the group of protectors that Tamaki will need if she’s going to fulfill her destiny as a Tamayori princess. A destiny that no one’s bothered to tell her she’s inherited until just now! And if it wasn’t bad enough to learn that every plan she’d had for the future has to change, to top it all off, Tamaki still has to start attending a new high school as well
