Ixion Saga DT
Oh come on, another one? There’s a significant increase in game-based anime. It started with the dot hack series a few years ago, but soon came other anime like Accel World, Sword Art Online and many, many others. This season alone has about three game-based shows. It’s not all that surprising though, as all of them have been successful so far.
Anyway, the artwork is pretty average. It has lots of unique, interesting looking characters, so that’s not the problem. I personally would’ve changed that little princess though, seeing as I’m not entirely satisfied by the way she looks. No, it’s the scenery that holds this show back. I have paused randomly during several scenes to take a look at the scenery, but it looks pretty messy to be honest.
Unfortunately, the story isn’t much better. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty interesting, but by no means unique. Come on, a story about a guy that gets sucked into a game world? Sounds a bit like Sword Art Only and Btooom! if you ask me.
I will only recommend this show to all game and fantasy lovers. It has an interesting story, I’ll admit that, but it’s just not original enough for me to recommend this to everyone. Who knows, maybe this show will surprise us all in the long run?
Plot Summary: The game and anime follow Kon Hokaze, a boy who embarks on a journey from our world to an alternate world known as Mira, which is full a mysterious energy known as Alma. After saving Princess Ecarlate from attackers, he soon finds himself in the middle of a struggle around Alma.
