Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo Returns
Quite the unexpected announcement this turned out to be. I never even expected another one of these series. The first series had over one hundred episodes I believe, but I remember that the last couple of DVD releases didn’t sell well back in the day. Perhaps that’s why it took so long for another series to be green-lit.
I’m not really impressed by the artwork. Hajime looks okay, but Ran looks like a cheap egg-head character. I don’t like the way she looks at all. I remember her looking a bit dull back in the day, but I actually think it got worse. I’m just happy that the rest seems to have improved.
I’m really not all that bothered by the artwork right now. The story is what’s important in this case. It’s a mystery-genre story about a genius kid that goes around solving things. The story should be the top priority here.
Do I recommend it? I’m not sure. Old fans will surely watch all twenty six episodes. New viewers might not be all that interested because of the artwork. I suggest you give the first episode a try.
Plot Summary: Hajime Kindaichi may look dumb, but he is one of the smartest you will ever see. He encounters mystery after mystery with his good friend, Miyuki, and he swears to solve them in the name of his grandfather, who was a great detective.
