Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna

Well, well, what do we have here? I have seen several episodes of Lupin 3, which aired many, many years ago. I, as to be expected, dropped it because I couldn’t find myself watching something old, not after having experienced modern anime. It’s a shame, but I can’t force myself to like something.

I must say that I’m a bit surprised by the artwork. I knew that it was going to look old-school, but this is actually pretty impressive. It has a sort of ‘dark’ feeling to it, and I for one like that. It’s definitely a very unique style that will probably draw in a lot of people. However, I do feel that some of the voices do not match the characters though, which is a shame, because it would’ve been absolutely perfect.

Luckily the story doesn’t fall far behind. It’s a very pleasant story that keeps you interesting throughout the show. That’s right, a lot of violence, adventure, comedy and a slight hint of perversion. Isn’t it marvellous? It’s by no means the best anime I’ve seen so far, but it’s definitely not something that you will easily forget.

I do recommend this show, to be honest. I think it has a great deal of potential. Something tells me that it will only get better from here on out.

Plot Summary: Many people are falling prey to a suspicious new religion. Lupin III infiltrates this group, hoping to steal the treasure their leader keeps hidden. There he lays eyes on the beautiful, bewitching woman who has the leader enthralled. This is the story of how fashionable female thief Fumiko Mine first met Lupin III, the greatest theif of his generation.
