Medaka Box

Now this was quite unexpected. I thought that, when I first read about this, it would somewhat resemble your average gag anime. I was so relieved that I was wrong! I actually ended up enjoying the entire episode, especially when Medaka-chan suddenly undressed and embarrassed Zenkichi, her faithful childhood friend.

The artwork is superb, I have no idea why. It doesn’t seem anything special at first, but it soon drags you in. It is very detailed and thorough, I really like that. Also, I like Medaka-chan, one of the main characters. Sure, she’s yet another typical big-breasted girl that doesn’t realize her own sex appeal. It’s really your average character, I suppose, but it was really fun to watch, despite all that.

The story is what pulls you in. It’s very unique and smart. A girl becomes student president by a landslide, only to help the students with their problems by allowing them to submit them anonymously via her submission box, which will later become known as the Medaka Box, huh? I like it. It shows a lot of promise, plus you could create a lot of new ideas with this story.

I recommend this show to all comedy, ecchi and romance fans. Some people like comedy and romance, but are put off by ecchi scenes. Well, that’s fine, but at least give the first episode a try, because it really does look promising.

Plot Summary: Kurokami Medaka, a first year, is elected as Student Council President, and the first thing she does is establish a suggestion box, later dubbed by students the “Medaka Box”. Medaka encourages students to submit any problem to the box without hesitation and promises to take on any issue from anyone.

Since Medaka won the Student Council elections with a staggering 98% of the vote, she ends up as the Council’s only member. She asks her childhood friend, Hitoyoshi Zenkichi, for help and he grudgingly agrees, becoming the Student Council’s lowest ranking member. Soon Medaka recruits two more people to the Student Council, the former judo club member Akune Kouki as secretary and the current swim club member Kikaijima Mogana, on loan for 300 yen a day, as treasurer.

Now the Student Council members spend their days solving the problems submitted through the Medaka Box, whether they be hooligans in clubs where they don’t belong, girls who need help writing love letters or people who’ve lost their pets, gradually earning the respect and admiration of the entire school.

  1. watched and loved it!
