Minami-ke Tadaima

Hmm, so it’s finally here, huh? The fourth season of Minami-ke… This just goes to prove that I still don’t fully understand the system behind the Japanese media industry. The Minami-ke series always had very average ratings. It was never really good, but never really bad either, and still we’ve reached the fourth season…

Minami-ke TadaimaThe artwork, as some of you may very well know, as the clincher here. The characters all look interesting (or should I say cute?) due to their cat-like features. Their cat-like mouths really took off in Japan, and although the ratings were very average, the sales hit the roof in Japan when word got out. That should explain the three other seasons, I guess.

Now, the story is nothing special. It’s very basic. It’s safe to say that they try to keep things interesting with comedy and good, realistic scenes. Of course, by “realistic” I mean scenes that make us think things like; “hey! I’ve done/seen that, too!”

Don’t misunderstand. This post may come across as a negative review, but it’s really not. Minami-ke has a lot to offer, and that is why I recommend it to all comedy fans. It has a lot of funny scenes with a lot of cute characters. What more could you wish for?

Plot Summary: There are three of the Minami sisters: Haruka, Kana and Chiaki, who have an average life. The girls only have each other to depend on and help each other get through everything from love confessions to cooking.
