Naruto Shippuuden episode 253
I’m finally starting to remember how fun it used to be to watch Naruto Shippuuden before all those fillers started. It’s one of my favourite shows for a reason, a very good reason I might add. I do sometimes think that the episodes could cover a lot more ground if they didn’t add so much pointless dialogue that doesn’t make us any wiser, but that’s just one man’s opinion.
I waited all week for this episode. I wanted to see how the battle between Konan and Tobi would end. I always knew that Konan was pretty strong, but it seems that I actually ended up underestimating her. Her ultimate Jutsu caught Tobi by surprise, forcing him to use Izanagi to escape that deadly situation. Who knew that Konan had it in her to force him to sacrifice one of his eyes? I guess it proves that he isn’t actually invincible. He already lost an arm during the battle between Sasuke and Danzo. I’m rather curious; how much is that guy willing to sacrifice in order to persue his goal? We’ll see…
Izanagi is a Genjutsu that is cast on the user instead of others and is the most powerful amongst this type of Genjutsu when activated. The caster removes the boundaries between reality and illusion within their personal space. To a degree this allows the user to control his/her own state of existence. It is normally only active for the briefest of moments. However, Izanagi can only be used by those with the genetic traits of the Sage of the Six Paths. The Uchiha, descended from the Sage, are able to perform Izanagi with their Sharingan. In exchange for the brief control of reality that it allows them, the Sharingan with which Izanagi was cast becomes blind and therefor useless.
It was sad to see Konan die, it was sadder to see Tobi fulfil his mission, but I reached the top level of sadness when I saw Nagato and Yahiko lying there. That was a very harsh sight to see. Still, Konan didn’t die for nothing, seeing as she rendered one of Tobi’s eyes useless for the unforeseeable future.
It was a good episode. I really enjoyed it, up to the point where we saw that Kisame’s scroll with intel on Naruto had actually arrived at the Akatsuki’s hideout. I never knew that Konan and Yahiko were an item? That’s nice to know. Also, I think it’s sad that Konan will no longer be a regular character on this show. I rather liked her style. Anyway, enough with all the emotional crap! I’m looking forward to next week’s episode, where we will hopefully see more of Naruto and his new abilities.
