Naruto Shippuuden episodes 327 & 328
Oh no, did I jinx this week’s episodes? Is it because I praised Naruto Shippuuden in my last post for having a good streak going? Oh, who am I kidding? There’s no way that someone as unimportant as I could ever cause an episode or two to suck as much as these.
The first few minutes of these episodes consisted of recaps. Recaps, recaps, and more recaps in episode 327. I was about to punch myself in the face when the story finally started again. Bee, Kakashi and Guy were holding off Tobi and his tailed beast puppets so that Naruto could focus on releasing one of them, a four-tailed monkey by the name of Son Goku.
It was ingenious to see that Naruto had still one clone inside of his body so that the original could pull out that stake from the outside whilst his clone helped him by pushing that stake out from the inside. Naruto may not be a smart guy in general, but he is pretty reliable when it comes to battle. It’s like he was made to fight.
It was awesome. We had to endure a few minutes’ worth of fillers until the story picked up again, that’s what I thought as I was watching naruto’s awesome struggle to free Son Goku from Tobi’s control. That’s what I thought, yeah, but then we were ambushed by even more recaps. This went on for both episodes.
I suppose that’s what you can expect from two episodes a week. I suppose the animators can’t keep up, so they throw in a couple of recaps to fill it up a bit. Recaps normally service a certain purpose. Sometimes it’s to draw our attention to a certain event that affects the future, sometimes it’s to make us remember something specific, but most of these recaps served no purpose whatsoever. Such a darn shame…
