Nobunagun

Okay, second Oda Nobunaga-related anime of this season… Sigh… What a horrible, horrible title! That’s right, I said it twice. Nobunagun? Was the author drunk and/or high when he thought of this? It’s so incredibly lame and it sounds kind of lazy… But okay!

NobunagunI am not a huge fan of the artwork. Not at all. Is it better than Nobunaga the Fool? No, I don’t think so. Shio looks pretty cute and her “other side” looks terribly deranged, but detail-wise it’s pretty bad. I’m just happy the weapons were cool and Oda Nobunaga looked like a badass.

The story I like! It’s been done before and I still like it! Shio, a teenage girl, is supposedly the reincarnation of Oda Nobunaga and now wields a huge, magical gun that will help her destroy monsters? Yeah… It sounds a lot better than Nobunaga the Fool.

I’ll say the same thing I said in my other post: watch the first episode. I honestly can’t recommend this when I’m not even convinced. It’s going to take more than one episode in this case. I know where they’re going with this and I have a rough idea of what I can expect (monsters, people special power and organizations that try to control both). Do I recommend this to all? No.

Plot Summary: Shio Ogura is a Japanese high school student, who is visiting Taiwan on a school trip when she is suddenly attacked by monsters. Agents known as “E-Gene Holders” from the government agency DOGOO also arrive, who wield weapons infused with the spirits of historical figures. Shio is revealed to also be an E-Gene Holder when the soul of Oda Nobunaga awakens after she tries to rescue a friend.
