First personal post of 2015!

First personal post of 2015!

So Christmas has passed and we already started the New Year. I hope you all really enjoyed these holidays and that you all entered the new safely and in one piece.

So first I will tackle the last season. A lot of good ones, some bad ones and some that started out good but really ended up disappointing me greatly. Grisaia no Kajitsu was definitely the biggest disappointment of the season. Trinity seven was alright and Akame ga Kill! ended pretty badly in my opinion. But yeah, you have ups and downs. Things don’t always go the way you’d want.

I also want to point out that I kind of lost sight of my blog. In the beginning I had a clear image of what I wanted it to be. I wanted it to be a little personal where I could post whatever I wanted about anything. I even remembered posting about Japanese items and food that I made. I kind of lost sight of that, even though I eat Japanese food several times a week (mainly homemade sushi or other healthy treats). I will try to bring that back again.

The next season is about to start and I cannot wait. I will have to write many posts again. I also have my eyes on a few titles (Aldnoah Zero season 2, Saenai Herione no Sodatekata, Junketsu no Maria and one or two others) and I simply cannot wait for those to arrive. There are also one or two titles based on games, like Kantai Collection, that I am really worried about. Those don’t always work out and I would really hate if Kantai Collection didn’t work out.

Time will tell. Until then!

Merry Christmas once again and a happy new year!

Merry Christmas once again and a happy new year!

I won’t post today. I am going to dedicate this one post to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy near year! I already scheduled a few posts so that I won’t have to write during Christmas.

A lot has happened these past few years. The Facebook page, Twitter page and even the Pinterest page have all exploded for some reason and are going really well. More people keep visiting the website and more people keep sharing my posts. I am very happy about that and truly grateful.

My desire to keep writing is still as strong as ever and it’s all thanks to you guys. Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you all enjoy the next few days and that you get many great gifts!

“How To Get Published As A Manga Artist”

“How To Get Published As A Manga Artist”

I was asked to write about this book, “How To Get Published As A Manga Artist” by Christopher Hart. I initially just wanted to say no, but I gave it a try since this isn’t one of those books where you learn to draw manga characters. I’m no good with books like that. I tried it many times, and the things that I ended up drawing were… Well, you might want to gauge out your eyes before you actually look at my creations.

No, this book teaches you a lot about what it means to be a mangaka and it helps you on your way to become one. It teaches you what you need, what you can expect, what you have to do and a whole lot more. There’s a lot of stuff in it that I always wanted to know, which is why I decided to write this review.

I did not get paid to write this review, so don’t think that I’m sugarcoating it. I have to assume that the author, Christopher Hart, knows what he’s talking about and trust that his knowledge is reliable. That being said, he seems to have done a lot of work in the past. He has written many books and created many things. Besides, a lot of the information in this book makes perfect sense.

So, have you always wanted to become a mangaka or have you, like me, always wanted to know more about mangaka’s and the world they live in? Well, this book will definitely help you with that. I suggest you give it a try since it’s only twelve bucks on Amazon.

Another happy birthday!

Another happy birthday!

Three years… Three years since I restarted my anime blog… It’s quite scary and somewhat depressing how fast time goes by. Three anime-filled years. Not bad.

It is quite late so I am going to keep this post short for once. No point in boring you any more than I absolutely have to.

I want to thank all of the people that visit my blog, read my posts, follow my blog on several social media websites and actually share my pages on other websites. It’s been an absolutely delight and to see that my blog, in only three years’ time, managed to get such a huge crowd and get literally hundreds (and some days even thousands) of unique visitors each day… Well… It renders me speechless.

I hope my health continues to allow me to write these posts, no matter how bad they are, so that I could make yet another one of these birthday posts next year. That would make me very happy.

New Google Plus page

New Google Plus page

Hello everyone! It’s been a long time since I made another “personal” post. There’s a lot I want to say, but I am kind of forced to keep it short and simple since I’m not in good health right now. Watching anime, writing these reviews and work is what’s keeping me up.

I would like to share with your My Anime Blog’s latest addition – our official Google Plus page. It has been a long time coming and it’s a lot better than the custom-made page that I created. I hope you all enjoy it and decide to follow My Anime Blog there as well.

I would like to end this post by thanking everyone for their continued support and to apologize to all those whom I have turned down when they tried to donate money. I find that very heart-warming and kind, but please, keep your money. There will come a time in everyone’s life where money will be needed more than anything else, so it’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Thank you to everyone that reads the blog, that followers and retweets on Twitter, that follows and likes posts on Facebook, that follows and repin our Pinterest posts and to those that will hopefully follow our Google Plus page! Thank you!

Looking back on 2013’s Fall anime

Looking back on 2013’s Fall anime

No Kyoukai no Kanata or even Naruto Shippuuden this week. It’s a damn shame but what can you do about it? I don’t work on Christmas so why should they? I’m just glad that we will be getting new anime soon.

I’d like to dedicate this post to the shows that I either underrated or simply didn’t write about. My mistakes this season were definitely Yuushibu and Freezing Vibration. Yuushibu was pretty amusing and funny at times, but it’s a lot of the same thing. Freezing Vibration was simply a big letdown that never stopped to disappoint. It didn’t do the manga justice.

Looking back I would’ve rather written about Non Non Biyori, which is also a lot of the same thing, only better, or Outbreak Company. I kind of enjoyed Gingitsune a lot, too. The thing with these shows is that you never really know what to expect. Is the director any good? Are the voice actors and actresses? It’s basically a crapshoot. Sometimes it turns out great and sometimes it just doesn’t.

I think this season’s underrated show must’ve been Gundam Build Fighters. I expected a lot less and have been enjoying every episode so far. Yes, it’s a little childish at times and it could definitely use a touch of adult romance, but it’s very enjoyable nonetheless. This season most overrated show, no matter how low it has been rated, is definitely Meganebu. That has been a headache since the beginning. I dropped it after the second episode. I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Anyway, this is basically what I wanted to share today. There’s not much else I can do now that certain episodes aren’t airing this week. I just hope the new season starts soon. I can’t wait to check out the new season, especially the new Gin no Saji season.

The day before Christmas

The day before Christmas

So I just realized that Hajime no Ippo: Rising is not taking a one week break but a two week break. That’s pretty disappointing. Still, it allows me to write up another post right before Christmas. This is where all the fun starts, isn’t it?

So it’s December 24th, the day before Christmas and the day all hell breaks loose in your local shopping malls because of last-minute shoppers. Me? I’m sitting behind yet another screen with all my stuff already prepared. I’m going to drink, eat, game and watch a lot of anime with friends and family. That’s just how life should be.

I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and a very safe New Year’s Eve. I would also like to thank all those for reading my blog’s poor quality reviews and for enduring my annoying rants about this, that and the other. My Anime Blog is rapidly obtaining a dominative position in the search engines on all sorts of keywords, and it’s all thanks to you guys!

So, to all my visitors, readers, psychos that send me disturbing e-mails and pictures of themselves, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest followers; thank you and I wish you all happy holidays!

My attempt to make Tonkotsu Ramen

It has been a very, very long time since I created a post like this one. It’s a shame because I actually wanted this blog to have a more personal feeling to it, instead of spamming it with my many badly written reviews. I dare say that I lost sight of that and let myself go completely. I might as well do this now since there’s no Hajime no Ippo this week, but I certainly intend to make more of these posts.

Anyway, I decided to make a batch of homemade Tonkotsu Ramen (pork noodles). I had most of the ingredients lying around and decided to do it. I searched far and wide for a couple of Narutomaki slices but couldn’t find any. It’s too bad, but this will have to do. At least I managed to stumble upon a store that sold dashi stock (needless to say that I bought loads).

I basically sautéed the pork in a pan, boiled it in the dashi stock to make the broth and grilled it afterwards to add to the soup later. I then mixed in a little cabbage and bean sprouts and sautéed that in the same pan as I did the pork. Added a little bit of soy sauce and voila. All I needed was to add the cooked noodles into a bowl, followed by the broth, cabbage and bean sprouts, egg and of course the pork. It was absolutely delicious!
