Problems with the website

Hello everyone,

MyAnimeBlog, as some of you already know, has been experiencing a lot of problems during the past twenty-four hours. Posts suddenly lost their tags and categories, pages suddenly stopped working and even opening up a post proved to be quite problematic at times.

That is over and done with. It seems our host had trouble updating their MySQL server, thereby corrupting some of our database’s tables in the process. We didn’t know what was going on at first, and we tried everything to solve this problem. Fortunately for me, after experiencing something very similar in 2012, that my system creates backups every single day, and that I was able to restore the website by using yesterday’s backup.

I got lucky this time. My insane desire to ensure that my system creates backups every day saved me from a lot of heartache. Not a single post, page, comment or e-mail has been lost.

I would like to apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused and I hope that you will continue to visit my humble anime blog.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas everyone and a happy new year! I know this post is a little late, but it’s better late than never. I was very busy these past few days. I was lucky that I managed to make time to schedule a few posts ahead of time.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you, my valuable visitors, for all the support that you have given me and for taking precious time out of your lives to visit my humble anime blog.

It’s been well over a year since I restarted my anime blog, and I haven’t looked back since. I always kept looking ahead. During this brief period of time the blog obtained thousands of followers via Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Stumbleupon, you name it! December has arrived once more!

Hello my dear, precious readers!

The time for joy, generousness, parties, lots of great food and pity sex has finally arrived once more! That’s right, we’ve entered December, a month of festivity and happiness, filled with beautiful trees, amazing foods, cheerful music, my birthday and a lot of women that have put on just enough winter weight to make them needy and vulnerable.

That is why I’ve switched to this red theme once more, just to get in the spirit of things. I hope you all enjoy it, and may you all have a great December!

A few more updates

Okay, it’s been a long time since I’ve made a post about the latest updates, but it had to be done. I have been working on the site when I wasn’t watching and/or writing about anime, so it’s only natural that there are a few updates that I need to point out.

First there’s the social network buttons. I replaced those annoying Twitter and Google+ buttons with smaller and better looking buttons. I have also added FaceBook and StumbleUpon buttons, and all of them are small and lined up nicely next to each other. Also, I’ve removed all social network buttons from all pages. They only appear on posts now.

The theme in general has been updated. The latest version is now active, which should have improved browsing, loading speeds, and stabilized the news rotator. And I have updated the site’s logo a little bit.

I have also applied lots of security updates, removed a lot of unnecessary plugins and deleted a few dozen of spam accounts that have been spamming the site with ridiculous, link-filled comments, not that any of them got passed the website’s security.

And finally; I have removed that sitemap page. Sure, I still have an XML sitemap, but I have removed that ugly sitemap that showed you nothing more than a page filled with text based links. I have replaced this sitemap page with the episode reviews page, a page that looks a lot better and clearer.

A few new updates

It’s been a long time since I’ve done some major changes to the website, which is why I never felt the need to post any updates. However, I’ve decided to alter my posts from now on. I’ve been getting a few e-mails about the images, despite the fact that I enabled the option for people to view them full-sized. I’ve been thinking it over and decided to add a general episode recap at the end of each post.

That means that you can now view all sorts of screenshots at the end of each post, handpicked by yours truly. You just need to click on “Read more” in order to see all the screenshots. Please keep in mind that not all posts have them, it’s too much work to edit hundreds of posts, so I’ll be adding these screenshots to all posts starting today.

Also, I’ve been working on optimising my user privacy. That means that your privacy on MyAnimeBlog has been improved. Your IP address is now encrypted and no longer visible, user e-mail addresses are no longer visible and last but certainly not least; passwords are no longer being stored permanently. Encrypted files are being generated temporarily for as long as you remain logged in.

That’s pretty much all the major changes, for now. I hope you all continue to enjoy your stay here, and remember; I’m always on the lookout for any tips on how to improve the website, so don’t hesitate to use the contact form.
