Phi Brain episode 08

You people have no idea how glad I am not to live in a world like that. I hate puzzles because I can never solve any of them, but the world in this anime seems to be based solely on puzzles. There’s even a puzzle resort now. That would’ve been murder on my sanity, having to give up on an all you can eat crab buffet just because I was unable to solve a little puzzle.

So Kaito once again gets invited to solve their puzzles, but this time he goes as “the puzzle king’s apprentice”. But in reality he just went to solve those puzzles because he didn’t want to see people get hurt, and because that “puzzle king” could never have solved even one of those puzzles.

Normally you’d be happy to go to a resort for free, but not when you think that you’re going to solve yet another puzzle where people’s lives are at stake. That was not the case, all the puzzles were friendly and, I quote; “warm”. The only danger there was that guy that kept following Kaito around as he completed those puzzles. He set a booby-trap near the end so that, if according to his plan, Kaito would plummet to his death. Good thing that Nonoha and Anna were close by with their suspicious looking deer to kick Kaito to safety.

They all gather as Kaito enters the passwords he obtained by solving those puzzles, therefor finishing the entire puzzle, only to find out that the treasure was ruined by none other than the resort manager. His grandfather left him everything, including this beautiful spot full of nature, which he ended up destroying in order to create this elaborate puzzle resort.

That guy, whoever he is, was pretty pissed when he learned that Kaito survived, even though he sent his men to finish him. I can only come to the conclusion that people merely want that bracelet of his. I don’t think people would want him dead just because he’s good at solving puzzles, it has to be that bracelet. Something tells me that we are going to learn a bit more about all of this in the next episode.

This episode was a bit of a disappointment. I had expected to see some more about the POG by now, but they keep putting it off. I don’t even think that it’s going to happen next episode.
