Photokano

Rather a dull first impression if you ask me. I just expected more, that’s all. It’s like the exact opposite of Oreimo; all of the girls love the protagonist, which makes it so much easier for him. I don’t like that. Things shouldn’t have to be that easy.

PhotokanoFrankly speaking, I don’t think it’s the artwork that’s at fault here. Sure enough, the characters aren’t that impressive and don’t have any distinctive features, but they still look pretty good. Same goes for the background, no complaints about that either.

It’s definitely the story, if anything. The protagonist, Kazuya, is loved by pretty much all the girls. I don’t know if it’s his personality, his little sister or if he’s simply handsome, but it seems way too easy. He can easily communicate with pretty much any girl, get their picture taken and god only knows what else.

This is going to be a close call. On one hand it’s a pretty amusing watch, to a degree, but on the other it’s rather dull and not that interesting. The first episode just didn’t leave much of an impression, that’s all. That is why I can’t recommend this. I suppose romance fans will watch this either way.

Plot Summary: Kazuya, a mild-mannered high school sophomore coming to the end of a very average summer break, receives a digital single lens reflex camera as a gift. His nerdy fascination with its design soon turns to wonder when he realizes this little gadget could really give his social life a shot in the arm!
