RDG: Red Data Girl

Hey now, this wasn’t that bad at all. I’m usually a bit suspicious of net anime, but this turned out to be freakishly interesting. I definitely don’t mind saying that I’m honestly looking forward to seeing the rest in the near future!

RDG Red Data GirlThe artwork shook me at first. I didn’t expect it to look so good. Frankly, I was expecting something like Beast Saga, a quick way to get migraines. It wouldn’t be much of an exaggeration to say that I fell in love Izumiko the moment I laid eyes on her (translated to normal English: I like the way she looks, I don’t actually love her). Even the backgrounds looked pretty good, even though this was just a pre-aired episode.

The story isn’t bad either. It’s a neck and neck race between the story and the artwork. The artwork got me watching and the story kept me interested. I have a feeling I’ve seen something similar before, but I don’t mind. I’m already sold!

Do I recommend this? Surprisingly, yes. I imagine that there are loads of viewers out there that disagree with me, yet I cannot help but recommend this. You have to have an open mind when watching this, that’s all. Do you like fantasy? Give it a shot!

Plot Summary: The story is about a 15 year old girl named Izumiko Suzuhara. She was born and raised at Tamakura Shrine, and always destroys any electrical device she touches. She decides to try living in the city, and enrolls in Hōjō High School in Tokyo. With her are her guardians son and Izumiko’s childhood friend Miyuki Sagara. While she’s there, an entity called “Himegami” appears. She learns she something called a “kami” a vessel for a shinto spirit, while Miyuki is a “yamabushi”, a warrior meant to protect the “kami.”
