Seirei no Moribito

Oh wow. I just finished watching this anime today and I have to say that it’s absolutely great! I watched this anime because a friend of mine recommended it. Which reminds me, I have to buy that bastard a six pack to express my gratitude, damn.

The story is very good, unique and exciting. It started out pretty good when that female spear wielder saved the prince, but the story just kept getting better and better. I watched the first ten episodes in a row because I just couldn’t stop watching. So I watched the remaining episodes within the next couple of days, at a steady and healthy pace, lol.

As for the artwork? No complaints. I was really fascinated at how they drew certain things, but I do feel that the “La Lunga” could’ve used a bit more imagination, they just look like mutant crabs.

All in all? A definite must-watch anime! It has it all; a great story, great artwork and the chemistry between characters is excellent. At the end (don’t worry, I won’t spoil the end) I actually cried a little bit, seriously.

Plot Summary: Balsa the spearwoman is a wandering warrior, who takes on the task of saving lives, in atonement for a past sin. On her journey, she happens to save a prince, and is tasked with becoming his bodyguard. And he is going to need one, for his own father, the emperor, wants him dead.

Balsa, the spear wielder and bodyguard, is visiting the New Yogo Empire. She is hired to protect the Second Prince, Chagum, who is endangered because he is possessed by a being despised by his father, the Emperor, who ordered his assasination. The two go on a perilous adventure for the survival of the prince. Throughout the story, Balsa’s past will come to light and they will uncover mysteries about Chagum’s condition while developing a family-like relationship with each other and others.
